      @@HearBetweenTheLines 24 (and 12) is unique in this pattern of moving every note in a chord up or down independently leaves you with a consonant chord. That's why I love 24 so much. 22 and a few others give you a really cool effect where you can change two notes of a triad and sustain one and you stay consonant. 31 is something like "if one goes up one step the others go down two steps" (I think it's that way around)

      @@FASTFASTmusic The great thing about 31 is that it's so versatile, sometimes you can pivot, sometimes it also works with moving both voices a diesis, it's really depends. But yeah, 24 is amazing.

    Have you guys also dabbled in mathematics? This is straight up group theory and it’s beautiful.

    • @HearBetweenTheLines
      @HearBetweenTheLines  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hahaha, not really, to be honest, but I'm talking a lot to e.g. Mike Battaglia, who thinks a lot in these terms :) Would you mind explaining about group theory and card games? db

    • @lachlangray8120
      @lachlangray8120 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah! Group theory is a part of a branch of math called abstract algebra, which I think of as ‘meta math’. It’s kind of like the math you use to get at why math works.
      Honestly this video will explain it a million times better than I could (but if u watch and have questions I’m happy to answer!):
      m.th-cam.com/video/g7L_r6zw4-c/w-d-xo.html&pp=iAQB
      Another longer, but also really interesting and friendly video talking about what group theory is about, and done by a channel close to the hearts of STEM folk:

      You guys have made a kind of triad algebra. The entire board is a “group”, and these 6 movements would be “transformations” (or “operators” in my preferred lingo). Opposite directions eg < and > are “inverses” of each other. The omitted movements >>> and

    Nice. If we introduce the 7th or more tensions, it's able to make more pattern of modulations!

      Yes you may - my dear friend and luthier Thomas Thämlitz ( www.holzblut.de ) is the wizard who made it. It's actually got exchangeable fretboards, so I can play any TET system on it :)

    In 24 equal, you can get within 19 cents of a 7/4. Better than the 31 cents difference of 12 equal at least. Scala:
    equal 24
    set tolerance 0.756
    show location 7/4

    • @HearBetweenTheLines
      @HearBetweenTheLines  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We don't really feel that 950 cents sounds like a harmonic 7th, even though mathematically you are absolutely correct, that's why we left it out of the intro :)
