the only reason im using flatpak bottles is because bottles only maintains the flatpak version and they dislike other distros maintaining bottles as a system package, lutris and heroic can work also either it be flatpak or not :P mangohud should be available in a gui store for you to grab so its not as horrible but as i said for me its showing the wrong version on the discover store there is a bit of a learning curve with flatpak because of its containerization but after you learn its not that hard to understand how it works but fair enough, i understand for new users it might be confusing but using flatpak is the default on most distros so the user should learn a little about it to get comfortable with it

proprieties elden ring on steam, app id in updates, find that appid in your compatfolder on where ever you installed elden ring for me its on extragames ssd then follow the same path for the save file as you would on windows you can also use protontricks and that will tell you the appid for each game on steam either it be a steam game or non steam game flathub.org/apps/com.github.Matoking.protontricks

@@linuxnext Im pretty new in Linux world with Nvidia, how often NV rollout new drivers ? Do they release some "hotfixes" or we have to wait half year for new rollout ?

@@mrkrenek93 so outside of nvidia drivers you have mesa which includes a multitood of drivers for different hardware this includes intel, amd and now nvidia with nvk Mesa has a feature release which is the new fancy features that improve different drivers inside of mesa every 3 months then they have bug fixes every couple of weeks to fix bugs on the last feature release that happened that being mesa 24.1 The next feature is mesa 24.2 and they also do RC releases meaning release candidate and that goes through testing and more rc releases until they think its ready in that 3 month span docs.mesa3d.org/release-calendar.html Nvk just became usable on the desktop with 24.1 and supports some vulkan extensions for basic vulkan tasks and some very light gaming for now You can test 24.2 rc versions or the git version of mesa from master meaning you will get the latest features that are in development but can cause issues as its the development builds you would be running On arch you can grab like mesa gaming from aur and use that as that maintainer updates his gaming mesa to the latest usually like 24.2 rc right now You will need to remove the nvidia prop drivers also so that you can use nvk and the vulkan-nouveau package for things like steam You can also look at the issues and merge requests if you know what your looking for gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa

where did i say that? edit: ah yes i see what i said, i stand by that ngl like my explanation right below of why they should you can use the native version but last time i checked there is a bug in the linux version of unity where the mouse cursor doesnt reset when building or checking the map so i recommend proton, its honestly pointless tho to create a native version for linux right now, proton solves this easily so devs dont need to waste money and resources

@@linuxnext might be hardware dependent my game runs perfectly fine or they fixed it! Howerver linux devs should ALWAYS upkeep their native ports!

changed back to native and i still get a similar issue, seems they fixed the old one but its not fully fixed, open up the build menu in a world, your cursor will be moving around in the background when playing so when you open your cursor you will be thrown off by the cursor not re-centering and instead where you last moved the cursor, its a little problem but when your building pretty fast it causes me to be thrown off multiple times as normally in games they will recenter the cursor when you reopen a build menu or map etc, on proton this is not a issue as its using the windows build which doesnt have that problem, this little issue has been a problem for atleast 1 year now valheimbugs.featureupvote.com/suggestions/436152/cursor-not-properly-captured-on-linux-multimonitor-after-0214300-patch they fixed somewhat of the problem where the cursor would escape in fullscreen and now just hits the monitor that the game is on when in fullscreen is should suggest this so it can be implemented in unity

What runner/proton/wine version are you using? I have made an updated guide for xdefiant, i just need to edit the video and upload but you dont need any environment variables anymore and you can use proton-ge so try that

The laptop scene with nvidia can be rlly bad as iv heard, on desktop is alright most things work fine but i agree i also moved to amd and its a night and day difference Im hoping NVK improves quickly as this is very similar to RADV in mesa and already works extremely well on the desktop side of things, excited for mesa 24.2 as this will improve nvk even more so that nvidia can be good on Linux like it is on amd so people dont have to be forced to buy an amd card

have you tried without the modengine to confirm if it launches properly?

@@linuxnext yeah just fresh installed it with only the seamless coop mod and no dice.

@@sorastereo7197 have you tried clearing your wine prefix of elden ring? On steam it names them your appid in the steam folder in the compatdata folder Check elden ring updates on steam properties and it will tell you the number it is then delete it, verify elden ring and try again if it doesnt work I'm sorry but there isnt anything else i can do for you :/ Also use latest proton either experimental or proton-ge if you have that installed also

That being said, I switched to Fedora 40 from Ubuntu because snaps brooooo. Ain't no way I'm cool with snaps and having to uninstall them, then stop them from re-installing on their own.
