a little off-topic maybe, but do you remember what you use to make ur little logs at the end of the vid for the AT vlogs? thinking of trying to make something similar
@@MrHalf1000 I just used Canva and made them from scratch!
You didn't start with your Garmin or other communication device? Please, if hiking solo, carry some sort of location/communication device.
This is so much better than TV! So many emotions, we are praying for you in Florida! You got this! What an inspiration you are for us couch potatoes.
Do not camp under trees in thunderstornlms. Camp AWAY from trees since lightning can strike them och then they break and you are burnt alive in your tent with a firy tree top on top of you. Thunderstorm can also bring sharp very strong gusts of wind and then you might be crushed under a huge rotten branch or tree top. A tree looking healthy from below doesn't mean it is not rotted through high up. Those kind of trees do not protect against rain either. When the rain is finished the trees will still drip on you. Large drops which are better att penetrating the tent cloth.
Come Malaysia marry me Jessie,i ❤ you so much
You're not complaining. You're keeping it real. Make smart and safe decisions for yourself. Think them through thoroughly. We don't want you getting hurt. You already know from hiking the AT that you have to be willing to be uncomfortable at times on trail. Don't let your mind win. You know you can do this. Sunny days are coming! Keep going!
This trail is not a solo hiking trail. When you get to the next town, adopt someone to accompany you for safety for both body and mind.
Yeah! Your back hiking again. Thanks for taking us a long on your trips. I am section hiking the AT again next year. Thanks for the inspiration.
Keep going kid. You got this.
The bad days make the good days even better
Rooting for you from Texas. I feel bad for complaining about the scorching heat outside here after watching this. Chin up and stay strong.
Definitely go to urgent care. And that will tell you to keep going or go home.
IDK if you read these comments, but here goes Jessie. Don't believe your thoughts. Zoom out of your head and become aware of just being aware. You can practice this, and before long, it will become easier and easier. You know this already, you yourself said you are stuck in the thinking maze. For a moment, just be aware of your breath, and not those thoughts that are swirling around in your head. Getting out of your head will vastly improve your mood and get you back into the swing of things. Hope this helps.
Make the decisions that seem right for your situation which you seem to be doing. Find your friend knowing that she is equipped to make the same decisions you are. Then decide how to move forward. No need to stop, just move forward knowing the conditions and adjusting for them.
Honey Bee, I have followed you from the beginning of your TH-cam "career" starting with your AT thru-hike announcement video, and have watched all your subsequent 180+ videos. That being said, I don't know you, but I've seen enough of what you have shared about yourself to say that you can do this if it's what you truly want to do. And if I may be so bold as to suggest a few things: If you're still feeling "under the weather" when you get to town, get checked at a medical clinic/urgent care. Avoid hiking alone when the weather and/or trail conditions are dangerous, especially without your Garmin. Get a lightweight hard-copy book to read when there's nothing else to do and you're stuck in your tent alone. Learn a little meditation/yoga/ breathwork (maybe that's what the book could be about) to help you deal with stress and calm your mind, etc. Sorry If I'm being too pushy or it seems like I'm telling you what to do (ask my wife about that😉), but I'm just trying to be "helpful." And finally, to quote Scarlett O'Hara's final words in Gone With the Wind, "After all, tomorrow is another day!"🌄
I section hike in 7-10 day increments. I always lose my appetite and find it difficult to eat. Since I'm overweight I actually welcome that.
IMHO, having watched two of these vids, you seem like the entirely wrong person to be challenging yourself in nature. I would suggest entirely shifting your mental focus AWAY from the myriad of negativity you appear to be steeped in.
You are doing very important work right now, it may just not be what you think or what you planned but nonetheless is the most important thing any of us can do and that is to work on our soul. You are exactly where you should be, because that’s where your soul put you. So if you are alone with time to think and feel, that is exactly what your soul needs in order to heal. It’s so important to feel whatever you’re feeling in the moment, if you’re angry then scream, if you’re sad then allow yourself to cry, don’t shy away from it, dive into it and surrender to your tears. Please allow this grief to come out of you, remember any tears you don’t cry now you will have to cry later, so don’t save them up, let them fall at your feet with each step you take. When you are alone it is a great opportunity to tell yourself the truth about your life where you are what you want, reflect on your life, what has happened to you through your life, what you have done and what was done to you. You have created through your desire, a perfect opportunity to heal the pain you have within you just trust in that and allow yourself to heal. This is something that we all need to do, so you are not alone, you are just courageous enough to share with all of us. Thank you Jessie
If Washington is to snowy flip down to Oregon, the Cascades are pretty much snow free, lots of easy crusin. Ive been out alot above 7000 feet and everything looks good.
It has been a rough start for sure. I sense you can do this trail though. I think you made great decisions on Hart's Pass. In 2022, I made it 14 miles before anxiety took over and I was not able to get past it.
Dear Honey Bee, I've been following you since you first set foot on the AT. Right now you are isolated compared to past experience. That will change. You are the solidest human being I have seen on this thing we call social media. It's fun to watch you do what you feel you need to do. I'm sure your family, your dog and your friends miss you even more than you miss them. Just keep moving.
So sorry to hear you are having such a rough start! Some mountain trails (I live in mountain West area) are not hikeable until mid July due to the snow (which you show for your hike in vid). Next year I plan to hike the Colorado Trail and recomended start date is 3rd week of June or in July due to snow conditions on the trail. Hope and pray things are working out for you now and you found your trail buddy again. Keep on keeping on
You should just push forward. Other people cross the snow and live, you can too. Believe in yourself girl, I believe in you! The Garmin will give you more confidence.
Oh, Jessie! I am praying the Lord comforts and sustains you. It has been so hard for you this time around - but you are not alone. God is with you. Cast all your worries upon him. Get some rest - and do not quit when you are feeling emotional. Blessings!
Gosh….what a terrible few days. And don’t worry about complaining…..this is your hike and you’re just telling it like it is. We should all see how real this can be. Hoping for better days for you!!
I agree! It is not all sunshine, rainbows and unicorns. This is reality. Smart decisions were made in those few days, as far as I see.
I hope you could optimize your way of moving in the meantime and that you made great progress as fire season is upon us and there are trail closures already. Hopefully you made it to Stehekin before the fire as right now you could not go to Rainy pass from Harts pass. If you have let's say a 2 week delay with the videos you are probably fine. Generally, the PCT is so much nicer to hike than the AT. It may be a little bit dusty right now and you need to be comfy with sun exposure the entire day, in a heatwave, but once you figure this out it is smooth and fast sailing every day. The altitude of the PCT helps a lot as it is cooler in the mountains.
Covid sounds like a real possibility with those symptoms, and especially after a flight. You've got this, although it doesn't feel like it at the moment.
You got this! Hang in there!!
Keep pushing. I cheered for ya when you started the pass!!! You got this!!! Can’t wait to find out what happened to Lucy
Dang, I'm sorry you're off to such a bad start. It looks miserable. Hope Lucy is okay. Would love to see you keep going and finish, but also completely understandable if you stop and pick it up again later. Take care.
Washington is stunningly beautiful, but can be a bit rough when the weather is bad. Hope things turn for you and you continue on your hike.
What you are doing is very difficult and you are staring the trail in difficult conditions. You can do this. The snow will not melt for a long time so just accept it and keep going. You are learning every day and it will get easier.
Dang girl. I hope the best for ya! 🍯🐝
Hey, I resemble your feeling of wishing to end a tough trip and to just go home. You are a tough young lady. I hope you keep going. I think you will. But I wouldn't blame you either way. Good luck. God Bless. Paper Map (from GA).
As a great hiker, Feral, says, planning is everything but the plan is nothing.
I'm sorry this hike sucks so much for you
Beautiful❤
th-cam.com/video/38QFIyosE5o/w-d-xo.html
Others' SOB trek is/has been disrupted due to snow/melt conditions.
I wonder how you expect that first person you want to cross the snow to where the path is when you don't? Shouldn't you know? Shouldn't you have snow equipment?
Safety first, nice video, on a bad cold rainy day, so let's keep on hiking 😮
I am glad you are staying safe. The views are stunning. Safe travels to town.
I followed your AT thru hike channel and I remember even when you were down, grit prevailed, you moved on to the next mile and replicated that behavior during your entire hike. I see that happening again and it will see you through this journey as well. Have a safe walk, and, every now and then ease into saunter mode. As John Muir indicated many times, “sauntering” was the best way to enjoy the adventure.
You had this on the AT, too. You still made it to Katahdin. You'll be fine. I live in Gallia County, Ohio, and my family is very good friends with the Gatewoods (Grandma Gatewood is from here). I follow AT, PCT, and CDT thru hikers and provide obnoxiously supportive comments.
Glad I decided to start my SoBo August 1st!
You have a few busy days. I’m sure in a few days you’ll be fine. One day at a time
Have fun. Interesting see how you got out to the trail!! Best of luck.
🙌🍯🐝
Good to see you can change the plan allowing for whats happening where you are. Hope things worked out and you connected with missing hiking partner. Keep on keeping on
Honey Bee, I am happy you got back out there on trail, and I am now caught up. Thank you for your candor and your bravery out there. I hope this finds you well wherever you are, and that things are looking up. The scenery just never stops, what a wonder. Stay strong, be safe and hike on. Wishing you all the best, again. Jack NYC
