    Thanks Jesse! Most people think that Trail Magic is a good way to give back to the trail but actually, it is giving back to the hikers. You did real maintenance! Thank you for your work. It's such a shame that all that garbage was left on the trail. In 1990, my first thru hike I found that if you picked up EVERY piece of garbage you found on the trail, it couldn't fill a gallon ziploc bag. My second hike maybe a trash bag but now, that is amazing that people go to the woods to enjoy the beauty and then leave that much trash. BTW, you will think of the trail every single day of your life. It was a life changing trip that will always stir your soul.

    Very nice! I still hope to do the AT in 2024. Obviously many amazing volunteers make it possible for others to fulfil their dreams.

    You are awesome I can't believe it's been a year already since you hiked the whole trail I followed your journey all the way to the end

    What a great way to stay connected to the trail. I've helped clear blowdowns and it's rewarding at the end of the day. What's up with all the trash lately? I end up with a bag full of other people's trash every time I hike.

    Very cool! Out of all the thru-hikers I keep up with on YT, you're probably the first one I've seen give back like this. So awesome. Keep us posted on your future adventures

    Wow! I was randomly thinking of you last weekend and wondering how you were doing. Glad to see you back on the trail and in good spirits. A couple of the thru hike vloggers I followed last year have had post-hike depression. I suggested trail maintenance as one possibility to stay connected to the trail and get back into a more positive mental state. I'm working on a multi-year hiking quest of my own, and following completion am thinking about doing the training and joining a crew to maintain the AT in my part of the world. Peace, Love and Kindness.

    A very cool look inside trail maintenance and what goes on. Hopefully it might help more people volunteer by giving them a frame of reference of what's done there.

    I'm preparing for my annual section hike, to begin at the James River in May. Last night I watched a bunch of your videos, from Johns Hollow Shelter north into the Shenandoahs to get a feel for the terrain. You did a good job commenting and videotaping last year, so I find your vlogs helpful. I noticed you hadn't posted in many months...and suddenly you popped back up today. Glad you found a way to come back to the trail. Best wishes, Paper Map (from Georgia).

    Nice work, Jessie & crew!
    Thanks for your volunteer work. Every little bit helps.
    I’m amazed at the audacious rudeness of anyone who would actually leave trash & litter in a beautiful natural setting like that.
    Shame on them!

    You looked really happy doing that. I tried trail maintenance but my old and broken body couldn't keep up. For anyone like me I suggest giving back by joining the clubs that maintain the trails you walk. Money helps as much as effort.

    I think it's so great that you've gone to do trail maintenance! Honestly, it seems like such a nice way to go if you've got time, energy, and means to do it. Thanks for showing how it went down so more can feel comfortable doing it too.

    Welcome back, Honey Bee! Good to see you again. Thanks for doing this. White blazes, I'm sure there were some that were hard to find on your hike. Also clearing some of that pesky veg. Maybe you can help on a controlled burn someday. Neat patch for your pack. Thanks again.

    Good for you to step up and do this. Trails would degrade quickly without the dedicated hard work of maintainers. Stick with it even if it’s only once a year. Many hands make for lighter work. God bless.

    Wow...I can't believe a Silky Saw was used (instead of a chainsaw) to cut that large tree. Good Job!

    • @Maybe_Jessie
      @Maybe_Jessie  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tim, the crew leader, actually explained that there are certain regulations about carrying chainsaws on the trail. I believe you must be certified for chainsaw use prior to bringing one out, so unless there’s a particularly large amount of blowdowns, they try to avoid using chainsaws!
