So sorry to see you struggle like that. You've been my hero all along. You still are!! Stay close to your hiking partner, especially through the notch. Don't be afraid of it. All the videos I see people go together, help each other and have fun with it. Sleep will help. Some human company will help too. What's his name sunrise. Tell him you need him to stay close. You don't have to do it alone.

Simply know this: Your experience has forever changed you, in the greatest of ways! Some race through the AT, some walk 10 miles and call it quits. You my Dear have already done what 99.999% of us would (could) never even attempt to do. Ebb and Flow is what life is about. Bliss is temporary; Ethic is what most covet and Honey you have more of it than you realize. I see and hear it in your videos! Every step has been your call to make. Five million or so I’ve read in the AT’s case. I cried right along with you (thank you for sharing). Cries are good and prove one thing… That your Love of Life, is real! Everywhere you’ve been is already a part of you! Be you, be safe and breath! From New Hampshire

My sister, I am so proud of you for having the courage to feel your emotions! If I may suggest something, it would be great if you could take a zero, in the woods by yourself and just let the tears, frustrations and any other feelings that come up out. Yell scream cry whatever comes up. We all have this grief within us the difference is that you have the courage to feel it. I’m not suggesting that it will all be over in a day, it won’t. Remember, we have accumulated this grief over a lifetime so it will take some time to release it, but release it we can. Once out of you, and fully felt you will never have to feel it again. Don’t judge what you are feeling, just feel it and release it. I’ve been praying for you and for your soul to open and it is, and it is beautiful, and you are beautiful. Words are the language of the mind, but emotions are the language of the soul, and all of us need to learn how to speak this language. Don’t worry about the miles, they don’t matter, what matters is the what you do during those miles and your journey of self discovery. God bless you and keep up the great work!

      @soulspacehomestead4941 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@judyrobinson9556 Thank you Judy that’s very nice of you to say, but truthfully it doesn’t really come from me it comes from our Heavenly Parent, God who loves us so very much and wants us all to learn the language of the soul which is emotion. In that way we can have a direct relationship with God. God doesn’t speak in words, but rather in emotions, words are a human creation and became necessary once we “lost” our ability to feel. More succinctly, once we chose not to feel. God is with us and for us, always. God is right next to Jesse on the trail just waiting for her to use her free will to ask for help, but it has to come from the heart, that’s where opening the soul comes in. The opening of the soul is actually what prayer is. Every time she opens her soul like she is doing she is receiving a little more of God’s Love whether she’s aware of it or not. This love when received will always overwhelm you which is why she is crying. And the more of God’s love you receive the more sensitive you’ll become, your heart will soften. This is when the greatest transformation of your soul can take place, your grief and pain will start to leave your soul and you will eventually be left with only joy and happiness to feel, which is exactly what God intended for all of us.

@@judyrobinson9556 God IS good that is the truth. God conceived us in love and loves us beyond conception. If I may share another truth with you… this one may be confronting for you, so as your brother I ask and pray that you keep an open heart.
You mentioned that you were “saved”
Now if you mean that in the sense of when your body passes (you physically die) that you will directly enter God’s Kingdom (Heaven) than I can tell you for certain that is not the truth. If you passed right now you will not go to God’s Kingdom. The only person so far to do that in human history was Jesus (our brother). And that’s because he (his soul) was all ready in Heaven when he was on the earth. That is what he meant when he said we must become perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect. He taught us that this state of “at-onement with God“ (just like Jesus was in) is possible for all of us even while we are on earth. The sins, (which are any unloving intents, thoughts, desires or actions) that are in us must come out of our soul first. The easiest way for this to occur is to ask for ( with a sincere heart) God’s Love. God’s Love as it enters your soul will start to transform it. When most people say they are saved really what the truth is is that they have received some of God’s Love. It’s not a one time thing though. God is infinite and has and infinite amount of love to give each of us individually. So many people who believe themselves to be saved actually stop receiving God’s Love because they feel they are “all set”. It is only the reception of God’s Love into your soul that will transform your soul (called the new birth) to the point where your soul (the real you) can enter God’s Kingdom, but in order for that to happen we must continue to ask for God’s Love and allow it to transform us using the great gift of free will that God has given us. It’s a process not an instant magical cure as most people think. God will never forcibly bless us, therefore I encourage you to ask God for God’s Love with a sincere heart. If you do, you will receive it every single time, guaranteed. And with that love comes truth, faith and peace. You will be overwhelmed emotionally when you receive it so you must be open and allow that to happen as Jessie is on her hike. I wish you well my sister, may God bless you and keep you.

There is no doubt in my mind that you have the ability to handle the Wildcats, the Notch, Mahoosuc Arm and the rest of the Maine section. You just need to find the mental toughness to get through the challenging moments. However, everyone has a limit to what they can tolerate, either mentally or physically. I don't know you well enough to know your limits, but I have observed you step up every time you have encountered adversity on the trail in your previous videos. So I am hoping I am going to be watching a Katahdin summit video in a few days. Peace, Love and Kindness.

    Merely MY two cents:
It's good that you weren't closer to home. I think you would have been mad at yourself for years if you DID go home at this point.
This thing is generally not easy.
The more ADVERSITY you OVERCOME, the greater the REWARD you will feel at the end..and the amount of CONFIDENCE you will have gained from all of this will be immeasurable.
I'm willing to bet that you will look back on this adventure as one of the greatest LEARNING and GROWING experiences of your life.
If it's not affecting your PHYSICAL health then TRY to keep powering through, taking care of your MENTAL health in the process.
THERE'S NEVER ANYTHING WRONG WITH A GOOD CRY.

You have proven to us AND to yourself how strong of a woman you are. Don't let a bad day ruin your hike. Stand up to it, be strong and tell yourself that you will handle this. There are some easier sections in the 100 mile wilderness but for the most part Maine will remain a lot like what you're hiking through. Be strong! YOU GOT THIS SWEETIE! But despite it all you will still see and experience great beauty in the Autumn woods, and have plenty of awesome days ahead. I remember when I entered the Whites and Southern Maine (25 years ago) I’d occasionally hear screams and curses of frustration off in the distance from other hikers. I’d have worried about and been concerned for them except that I was doing the same thing and knew exactly what was going on. I'm so sorry you had such a crappy day. It must have been horrible. It's most unlike you to be so beaten down by it, so I'd suggest that if you can take a bit of a break to gather your mental strength back it might help you feel a bit better if you have another challenging day. I'm full of admiration for you keeping going for so long and I'm sure that once you've had a bit of a rest you'll be your normal positive self.
It's possible you were in shock after the first fall, and if it happens again would you consider stopping for an hour or so, making yourself a hot drink and having something filling to eat to get your blood sugar back up again? Just a thought.
Good luck with the last 280 or so miles. You've absolutely got this.

Don’t give up!! The Notch is a playground. Take your time. Maine is rough. As a Maine resident, and advid hiker, I’ve always wondered why Maine introduces the Thru Hikers to the state in such a rough manner. So rude! So rugged through the Mahoosucs. But it does ease up. For a bit… I’ve always thought MATC should put up a sign at the NH/ME border that says “Welcome to feckhan’ Maine!”

I watched and then watched again today's video. Why? Because I recently completed my AT hike and clearly remember this section. It was hard; very hard. I knew exactly what you went through and what you were thinking. My experience was the same as yours. I will affirm what all others have told you--it's OK to cry. It's a very understandable reaction to this situation. I hope for better things on the remainder of your hike.

"It's really windy and really cold." "But screw your courage to the sticking-place, and (you'll) not fail" (Lady MacBeth.) So sorry for your bumps and bruises, Jessie. You're strong and persistent, and you'll make it. And it will have been worth it. Walk on.

Take a moment and take a breath. Maine is tough. A mile an hour is not unusual and what I just averaged through there myself. When you get to Grafton Notch go into Bethel or Andover and take a break. I’ve seen you tough yourself through the low days on this hike. Hang tough but be kind to yourself.

I got blown off a boardwalk on Mt. Success and up to my knees in a stinky bog.
Cold rain, high winds...my bro and I were near hypothermia. When we reached Full Goose Shelter, there was a herd of about 25 Boy Shouts in it. We set tent up in rain and got in bags. Took about 2 hrs to get warm...
