    Lived in country SA for 35 odd years and learnt real fast that the "high beam" trick is a revenue raising tactic thats been around since the worlds oldest profession. Around town or open highway on any night, there was always a high probability that the arsehole with oncoming high beams would be an instant money ticket dispenser just waiting (begging) for you to tap your high beam switch and then light you up.

    Shane, I retired from my job last Xmas & they had to sack my replacement after about 2 months & they asked me to go pick up the truck. Well I always kept it like new when I had it & when I picked it up I almost cried. The absolute filth inside it was disgusting, dust an inch thick, spilt coffee stains on the steering wheel, seat & cup holders, rubbish everywhere & it stunk so bad I had to have both windows down. It took 3 of us a full day to get the whole truck back in order. The outside was just as bad with broken bits, missing mud flaps & random dings all over. The boss was absolutely speechless when he seen it. So yeah, they’re out there!!!! 🤬🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

    2:45 you're dead wrong. The car in your lane MUST give way to the ute by law. It's not the ute driver being a dickhead. Merging from the left must give way to vehicles in the main running lane when there's dashed lines at the end of the left lane. The lines are across the end of the merging lane not the main running lane. It's the same for freeway merges and overtaking lane merges. They should put Give Way signs on the end of the lanes. If two lanes become one and there's no road markings, whoever is in front has the right of way. There's TH-cam vids specific to Australian road rules on all of this yet if you had 10000 people in a room about 2 would know that left gives way to right. Truck drivers don't even know and I'm one. It's sickening. I don't make the rules so there's literally no point going me when I'm 110% right - arguing about it is ridiculous. Put this in TH-cam *Road rules: merging* NSW. It's national anyhow.

    • @shanehastattoos
      @shanehastattoos 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Paul did you not hear my voice in the video? It was a 90km zone and the ute was behind the car. The ute moved out and attempted to overtake but sat right next to the car. The car then had to slow down to merge behind and we all end up doing 80km by the end of the clip, if he stayed in formation we could of still been doing 90km

    • @ThePaulv12
      @ThePaulv12 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@shanehastattoos Sure I heard it; did you not read my comment? I'll say it again, Left gives way to Right there. The car on the left has to slow down. The speed of the right lane driver is irrelevant. I'd do the same thing. It's called defensive driving - he sits there and forces the left lane merger go behind rather than inducing confusion and incorrect application of the merging rules under the guise of being courteous - fuck that! If a crash were to occur then the driver that induced the left driver to merge is partially to blame. I stand by what I wrote - and that's out of 1000 drivers about 2 would know who gives way to who when merging. The rule really is very simple, it's just the same as a T intersection with a Give Way sign. All of this for 10km/h (yes I know they speed up and slow down and it drives us insane). You want to see how many trucks I have on my dashcam saved footage that just pull out of the left lane as you're overtaking. The worst one I didn't get but I have at least 20 from trucks alone and without exception every driver blames me for their behavior if they answer on the CB. Nothing is worse than truckies fucking over other truckies but they do it all the time. They don't slow down, they don't stop merging they just keep coming endangering me and innocent oncoming motorists. I don't want to go to work and kill some poor bastard driving along minding their own business. As a professional driver I have an expectation that other professional drivers know the merging rules but they don't, instead preferring to tell me I don't. They don't look in their mirrors or if they do just pull out anyway. I don't write the road rules, the dashed lines aren't over the main running lane. Like WTF?

    Driving metro buses in Hobart doing a West Hobart service, forgot to go Hill St there’s a little one way street round the corner that takes you back to Hill St, I thought I will go up there otherwise just my luck there will be a little old lady waiting for the bus, turns out no one wanted the bus in Hill St. Doing the turn into the one way street, I took the bitch wide, but was going to hit the telegraph pole, but they always seem to put these things right on the curb, instead of on the other side of the footpath, as the people who decide these things DONT DRIVE A LARGE VEHICLE. I grabbed the steering wheel on the inside on the left with my right hand and just reefed downwards, which was just enough to make the arse of the bus swing, and I just missed the pole, by only a bees dick I’m sure! I was telling another driver about it that had been a driver for 20 years. A couple of days later he came and told me he did the same thing, forgot to go up Hill St on a West Hobart service, and thought I will do what Roxy did and take the one way street. He said”oh yeah, your right? That is a bit of a tight corner isn’t it?”

    I hear ya about switching vehicles mate; recently had the clutch go in my fiat doblo work van (barely 70k on it btw so wtf 🫤) turned out to be a similar thing to your Kenworth (failed bearing). Had to switch to one of our two suzuki vans which barely get driven - went for the one with aircon as you do, found the last driver had decided to leave his coke cans, burger wrappers and apple cores everywhere as well as the bloody thing stinking of rollies. I'm no longer a smoker and the smell is actually awful to me now. Had to spend a good couple of hours vacuuming and cleaning it out so that I could move all my gear in. 8 weeks wait later and the mechanics have just gotten parts to fix the Fiat van. Moral of this story; if you bought a Fiat sell it before the warranty ends and clean out ya work vehicle at least every week 😂

    I completely agree with the smoking in vehicles. I had a company car fail one arvo, so the fleet manager gave me the keys to a spare car (the rep had recently resigned). As soon as I opened it, the stale smoke hit me. The whole rear shelf was full of burns from the ash that had blown around - the driver stupidly thinking by holding the smoke outside the window, it wouldn’t get in the car…. I had to drive home with the windows down and no AC because the air coming out of it was foul. When I got home I parked it with the windows down, and went straight into the shower. My wife was in one of the bedrooms upstairs and asked me if someone was smoking out the front. No, it was the smell from that car. I had to put my clothes straight into the wash - the smell embedded into them. I left the windows down all night, but the drive back into work was no better. I took a change of clothes with me, and used the shower at work. It was horrible. That rep popped up in a competing company, and I ran into him one day. I commented about how disgusting his car was, and he laughed - he said it wasn’t that bad because he never smoked unless the windows were down……. He copped a couple of fines for throwing butts too - I found that out from HR because the fines came to the company, and they had to work out who had the car at the time. It was him on both occasions. I’ve seen several median fires on the M7 and in Norwest caused by butts tossed from cars, so I’m all for them copping fines for it.

    A few years back I was driving along a single carriage way in an 80 zone towing a fully loaded moving trailer when this moron in a BMW pulled out right in front of me at a glacial pace. There was no way the old Hilux was gonna brake in time with all that weight behind it, so I did the old swerve overtake & swerve back in front of him real close to let him know I was pissed. The next minute I see him coming up my left side on the very edge of the road where there was barely any space. When his driver window gets level to my passenger window I see him screaming and waving a comically large wrench out the window. I mean this thing was like something out of a cartoon. I imagine he was trying to look menacing but my mate and I pissed ourselves laughing at him, which just made him angrier. Then he did the old psych-out swerve towards me, so I just slowly veered left in the lane - to the point he had to slam the anchors on or end up in a ditch. It was the highlight of moving day for me - thoroughly enjoyed it!
