I dont have a turn around story but I hate sitting in line for 3 hours waiting for my turn at the dock only to find out the ULD wont fit in my 6 pallet truck. 🙄 But at least I still get paid for the waiting time so I shouldnt complain hey? Ok here is a turn-a-round story for you. I was taking 2 20,000litre water tanks from New Castle to the South Aus border town. I was in a Medium rigid truck with a bloody long trailer carrying the 2nd tank ( both tanks upright not on their sides ) Coming out of New Castle I didn;t know the road or turns etc and I missed the turn onto the highway going west. So I figured there would be a spot I could turn around somewhere up ahead, After driving for what felt like hours I spotted a right turn I could take to start getting back onto the highway. The turn wasn't big enough to do a u-turn so I went down the street looking for a chance to get turned around and by this stage I was getting stressed lol I saw the sign for a park on the right and figured there should be enough room at the top of the hill where the park was to try and turn and get back on track. The damm car park was full and I ended up having to reverse the truck and trailer with these 2 huge water tanks on back down the hill into the 2 lanes of oncoming traffic just so I could get back onto the other road and finally get to the west bound highway. That trip was a mission and a half. Nothing seemed to go quite right but I eventually dropped the 2 tanks off and I got to see Adelaide for the first time :) I do like the view from you Go-Pro. Thanks for sharing 👍 many years ago I was in a convoy of army trucks the lead vehicle took the wrong direction I stopped the my truck the drivers behind me cracked the shits at me because I didn’t follow I said to them if we didn’t stop we have to go all the way to the bottom of the mountain before we can turn around ,we waited about half an hour before the lead vehicle come back and then went the right way
OMG i cracked up laughing at the Barrington Tops story - my uncle and aunt used to live up near the top and i travelled that tiny little dirt road that was only a one lane and had to watch out for the timber trucks and they were great - if they saw you coming they would stop in a tiny little space right up against the mountain and let you pass or we would all do the same for them. Brought back a stack of memories of the panic not to go over the edge and fall down the mountain LOL
I had a turn around last week, got on M7 a trucks brakes locked up tfc jam, got a ph call and trailer had melb freight going nth out of syd, 2 hrs later back to same spot and crash on hawkesbury Bridge to top it off😅. U need to get on On the road radio on a wed or sat nite such a good story teller🤙
I was pissed as a parrot and got arrested at the CRAZY HORSE strip club in Adelaide years ago after i shoved an undercover cop. They took me back to the station and asked me to " assume the position " so they could empty my pockets. All of a sudden i heard the snap of a rubber glove which forced me to TURN AROUND reallllll quick !! They all cracked up laughing and said " Don't worry mate, it's in case you have any needles in your pockets " lol

G'day Shano! Just having a Friday drink & watching this. 🤙🏼 I was wondering because you do so many km's thru the bush & sticks every week, what is your truck washing routine? In my old jobs the past 25-30 years, I worked in shitty factories & warehouses in places like Laverton, Clayton, Hallam, Dandenong. Those couple of phone calls would've been pretty frustrating, especially going from the Western suburbs all the way back to Clayton South in the South East. But at the same time, they put food on your family's table. Having driven a small truck around in the early 2000's as a delivery driver & factory hand, I remember those calls, begging me to go out to another job out in the middle of nowhere, when my day was already over. It ain't easy driving a truck, brother. It's not only driving, hey. Safe travels buddy. Those Melbourne drivers are pretty aggressive & batshit crazy, amiright? 🙈
Hi Shane I have not taken a wrong turn since I got Truckwiz on my IPad it’s good mostly ,only one bridge south coast nsw it didn’t inform me about 20.5 t limit but lucky I was aware of the carunna bridge limit so not 100% accurate but very very good . Wrong turns are no good as you were saying in this vid thanks for the vid s keep ‘‘em coming mate 👍
G'day Shane, Mate I did the Barrington Tops run (by mistake) & it was at night, with a heavy fog/low cloud & as you mentioned no bloody place to turn back. The pucker factor that night was 12 out of 10, never again mate. The road conditions didn't exist & the switch backs were a nightmare, so yeh stuff going that way ever again. Steve.

have you ever thought of live streaming on twitch or one of the other ones, no need to talk the whole time if you dont want to, there is a guy that does it on twitch and he does have alot of people that watch him, he has a side cam pointing back along the trailers and in cab cam pointed front like yours.... Its all about where you're going what you're doing we enjoy watching the towns as well the roads night or day, that make it interesting. like i said would be fun to watch your live streaming your trip and lot of people would agree with me on that thanks for reading it and cant wait for your next vid
Turn around, well Shane i think the worse one is that damn bitch in the box, back in the day she was very confused with all the new roads going in (Brissy) and made me have to turn around several times because she wants to make revenue for the toll roads in that damn clem 7 when i didn't need too, took nearly an hour extra to get to where i was going, horrible trip... i do know that truckies don't just sit behind the wheel and drive, but thats what the general public sees, i would definitely like to understand the ins and outs when ur truck has stopped and check out all the extras u have to do, not only books, but weigh bridges and the transport guys that pull u guys up on the road and check u out, i know nothing much about that but i have heard stories about the past, but the present would be great to hear about...sorry about ur stressful hay trip, but i did love the video...i do hang for ur vids but im patient, plus i think it sucks being banned over bullshit... take care Shane...
