Very cool story... I was about 15 yrs old and the early 80's cassettes were the main inexpensive format for music, I use to buy them in a swap meet in Orange county, California ... English Beat, Banana Rama, Depeche Mode alot of the New Wave... Great memories 😊

Speaking of Halloween, in the seventies,I saw Uriah Heep on Halloween at the Pacific coliseum in Vancouver Canada and people in the row of seats in front of me were passing a lit sparkler firework, and just as a guy passed it to his girlfriend, the blue coated security man showed up and escorted her out of the concert. She looked so sad and her boyfriend didn't skip a beat, he gave her a kiss on her cheek and said see you later honey and acted as if nothing happened and he enjoyed the rest of the show

I am still yet to hear a full Thompson Twins albums. I have heard Hold Me Now and Doctor Doctor so many times that they don't really do anything for me anymore, but I have such a visceral reaction to songs like Lies and Love On Your Side that I can almost feel, taste and smell my childhood home whenever I hear them.

Was it just me missing it or was there no "Sugar Daddy" maxisingle? Many years ago I bought a quite large TT collection, kept the stuff I "needed" and sold the rest off on Discogs and through my own site. I still have 50+ TT items for sale and my own collections end with the Sugar Daddy release 'cause after that they lost me...

Every band needs at least one fanatical fan... 'Hold Me Now' remains one of my absolute favourite 80's songs. I spent most of the 90's having to defend 80's music against the cultural tide which encouraged everyone to hate it (anyone remember that? Seems to have been forgotten in the post-internet world, but the same thing happened to 70's music in the 80's)

Not even close to all Thompson Twins records, I know, Ive been collecting Thompson Twins since 1983, I have similar floor to ceiling shelves however 2/3 of ALL of my shelves are filled with Thompson Twins. Only 2 shelves are literally everything else I that I have that aren't Thompson Twins. There are A LOT more Thompson Twins records than you might realize.

If you like the band history side of things, like Ramases breaking up and forming Hotlegs who then inturn became 10CC, check out 'The Mockingbirds' who predate Ramases by 6/7 years, and had Kevin Godley & Graham Gouldman in ( They were a British MOD band)

This guy loves my sort of stuff, bravo matey. I have 500+ 80s records. Twice Upon A Time by S&TB and Blind, Static & Silence by The Sundays are my must haves.

Great Thompson Twins collection which looks a lot like my own. One or two things I spotted which I dont yet have such as yhe Greatest Mixes vinyl in the black and brown sleeve with I think was European and the You Take Me Up with the blue border. John and I are on the same page with a lot of this it seems. As The Gap is probably one of my favourite TT sleeves when it comes to artwork. I was also a quiet kid at school. I have to wonder if John has the holy grail of Thompson Twins singles Roll Over which is rare and hard to find as withdrawn from sale. It has sold for £500 just for that 12". The 7" of it is even rarer. I think John should and many other viny music lovers make the pilgrimage to the mega Record Fair in S-Hertogenbosch the Netherlands. For anyone who doesn't know its perhaps the largest record fair in the world the size of two football fields. I was at the recent one in November and picked up some Thompson Twins Japanese promos. I guarantee nobody will come out of that fair empty handed. And fir anyone who hasn't heard it check out Babble album The Stone. Tom Bailey is very proud of that album.
