Germany is an amazing place for records. I was just in Berlin and found myself surrounded by record stores and places selling records such as flea markets, cafes, restaurants and bookshops. So fun to watch this video.
When i went to japan, the nice people at recofan boxed up, about 7 to a box, and i stacked them in the middle of my bigger luggage surrounded by clothes. I brought home 32 records that way and nothing happened to them
Already the first LP in the rare section rack is a Danish psych classic. The band is Alrune Rod (Meaning Mandrake Root) and they performed some fuzzy psych similar to early Gilmour-era Pink Floyd and Nektar. That is their third album, Alrune Rock, where the band began to write shorter and more straight to the point psych rockers.
Great video Jake! I really enjoyed it. Very nice collection of Vertigo swirls in the rarities section. Cool record shop. I bet the shop has a decent selection of Krautrock records - I did spot an Amon Duul section :)
That shop looks amazing. So much great stuff. I found out very recently, that the Fair Weather Album on Neon UK is technically a second press. It originally came out in the UK on RCA Victor in the sleeve design you showed there and was then re-issued on Neon. Not sure of the story behind this. Keep up the good work 🙂
Would've been great to see a bit more of the Krautrock, looks well worth visiting. I've taken records back as hand/checked luggage a few times, isn't all that difficult. I appreciate if you only had a small rucksack you didn't wanna take the risk.
Couple of stores south of the river that I used when in Germany several years ago: No. 2 Records Wallstrase. 15 · 60594 Frankfurt (recommended) and Sick Wreckords nearby in Schulstrase, much smaller but with some bargains at the time.
Well, you've got to buy 20 or 25 LP's, then stack them, alternating the spines, putting the most valuable records in the middle and a couple of cheap ones on the outside on each side. Then you are going to put the stack in a tote bag and make sure it is a tight fit. Not tight enough? Buy more records. Now you will not have an issue when you put them in a backpack because the stack is braced. Although now you might be over the hand luggage weight limit...
There used to be a awesome record shop in Sweden selling vinyl for a fiver or so ... I'd hit before going back to England, I'd carry about 30 LPs back. No one ever questioned it
I like the video! When I find a record I like I always look from were it is - I avoid pressings from East-Germany, Yugoslavia, India, mostly Italy and some others, but it when it says UK, US, or Germany I am curious, as they are mostly equally great, the best, of course are from Japan - that`s why I can`t get this Swirl-talking...
@@strikedn that`s true, some are great, for example the "The west coast pop art experimental band - part one" (first pressing), but I got quite a few that are crispy...
You can't take your records on the plane? It 's what I always did when I went to the UK before Brexit. Bought my records, put them in the suitcase, wrapped them up tight among clothes and stuff and nothing ever happened.
For those who live far from the centers of the world, videos of good vinyl stores are always a delight.

Hamburg same situation, also Tilburg and especially Amsterdam in Holland.
When I fly without check-in luggage I always still bring a bag with vinyls with me, never had an issue with that. A backpack and a shopping bag
Good to know! maybe I'll try next time!

Thanks mate! Yes it's a crazy cool shop with a lot of rarities!
My friend Sherv from California went to Rise Above and it was one of the best shops he has ever been in he said.
Great store. Love that Patto album! Cheers
German pressings have a good reputation for their quality...
Loving the recent content man! 😊
Thanks Charlie! Anything else that you wanna see in the future?
@@thevinylhunters no worries! would be awesome if you went to a bootfair and went vinyl hunting! 😮

4:05 great band and record.
Coven to some people are considered metal that predates Black Sabbath with their first album .
It definitely looked really cool, I reckon if I see one again over here in England I'll give it a go! Thanks for watching
Cool video 🤘
Thanks Phil!

Love your Videos, so cool!
You rock!
An anecdote is that German swirls weigh the same as British ones, 140 grams. After 1972 that records weigh is 120 grams.
That Jackson Heights album is rare if it comes with the poster.

Mythos Record store reminds me of Wah Wah in
Barcelona ...
Take the records on the plane as hand luggage, or get the store to ship them for you
The Ivey's on the wall 😮😮😮😮😮
I know great record pre bad finger
@@progman14-q7i yes the only one I dont have.
Miss Papa Dave 😂
You can't take a carry bag with some records in on the plane? Poor excuse.

Actually you can.Ive done just that several times coming back from European jaunts.
Nice shop - very trusting - you could have run off with all the stock !
In Canada we dont have anything like those records here... amazing..
Try Second Hand Records in Stuttgart. A nice store really!
International indeed bet Papa Dave wasn't happy you didn't bring him that Magnum back 😂
He actually said that! After he watched it he said "you've done me up with that video" 😂
Ide just have bought them.
I reckon the shop would have shipped them to your address back in the uk Jake.
Records in tote bag is fine to take on a plane.

What's wrong with the Italian pressings? I have some and they all sound great. Just curious.

Its a shame you couldn’t bring anything back with you.
Next time, buy a cardboard mailer from the shop and put your records in that and carry it on the plane.
Good idea! Maybe I'll have to bring something home next time :)
Do you like Doom Metal ? I think it is my favorite genre
Aquila is German press becaus it says GEMA on label
