Helping autistic adults and parents of autistic/ADHD kids navigate the world of autism and ADHD
After Chris was late diagnosed as being autistic in addition to having ADHD, we have been learning about how to make adjustments to our lives to better support an AuDHD brain. Fun fact? We moved to Taiwan to build our careers in education. Since then we've kickstarted multiple companies, helped over 1,000 families, supported neurodivergent students and staff, and traveled to numerous countries. Join our journey as a neurodiverse duo with a unique perspective on life!
On this channel, expect a mix of wisdom, experiences, hilarious anecdotes, and useful tools. We’re sharing our lived experiences as educators, as well as the experience of a neurodivergent entrepreneur, manager, and autistic ADHDer. Intrigued? Dive into our content! Grateful you're here with us!

10 Clues You Might Be a High-Masking Autistic
Wow. Thank you for this. Especially being labeled as uncaring when i care but feel phony for making my face look like i care.
Possibly but, do austic's habitual cheat, lie, abuse alcohol 🍸 get 11 dui's and lie about all of it??? I don't think so 😮😢😅😂!!!!
I'm not a fan of the new spectrum of Autism. Are labels really helpful? I find them mostly limiting myself. A high-masking woman on the Autism spectrum might have much more in common with a non-Autisitc person than a non-verbal Autistic person, for example. As a Millennial I think this is interesting, and no doubt most women can see one or more of these tendencies in themselves, but I'm worn out by the "find out that everything you knew about yourself is wrong" hype from TH-cam. Things like "You might be a Narcissist if..." Why self-reflection is valuable, labels can kill your self-confidence or make you see things deceptively. Maybe we need less time on TH-cam and in therapy and more time in prayer, scripture and with friends and family.
6.4% is low? Okay...
11.5 reasons I might be autistic.
I think you’ve just ended up calling out my daily activities and stresses😭 Overhead lights have it out for me. People look at me crazy when I say “the lights are to bright I can’t see”
In the train, I always have one or two seats depending on how many people there is, the weather (yea I calculated where I would be less cold) When people have already seatted there, I have some chosen other seats. I'm not really bothered as I've been used to now. But if all my chosen seats have been taken like this morning. It just bothers me a lot. I get frustrated. I'm going to be cold, I need to move, people are talking too loud etc... Or when someone already ate something I planned to eat, I get really angry. I shout in the house. For the multi conversation thing, I always thought it was my fault and that I need to try harder. It's feels like everything you describe.
I have had both narcissists and autistic people in my life. I get that autistic people deep down have their reasons for seeming narcissistic and they are not the same or deviant like a true narcissist, but yet the behavior IS the same, making it very difficult for those of us who socialize easily and wish to include them. its as if they continually create such awkward situations that boarder on blatant rudeness, we have to stop and think whether we have the mental capacity to continue tolerating their difficult behavior especially in public. Just this weekend had an autistic friend rudely shun and another person who was invited to join us for dinner. She actually told the poor guy he was not welcome to join our group. Her reasoning was, he was younger than us and she didn’t know him. She had zero remorse for her rude actions. The rest of us were mortified.
I'm not autistic, but I still find this NOT rude... Especially if you can make it sound like some scientist who repeats a word just because it's interesting... I'm a linguist, so ... Maybe that's why... 😂😂😂
Reading and music saved me. My personal and most prevalent challenge from the past would be: feeling like I am leading a double life as long as I can remember and not knowing the reason for it.
This is so awesome! Because of you and what you are doing with these videos about being autistic, I am realizing just two weeks ago (when I watched one of your other videos) that I am autistic and most probably ADHD as well! This is shocking to me as I am almost 60 years old and have gone through this world simply thinking I was what other people told me I was--too intense, too sensitive, too stubborn (oh and too difficult)... but now I see that is just how my brain works and mind operates. I have been forced to reckon with this reality because of the rapidly declining health of my mother... who now I know is autistic too... and my brother who I could see clearly was autistic but I never connected the dots to me as well. We had mega battles about mom earlier this year and at times my brother absolutely presented as being narcissistic, which is another thing I have had to reckon with in my life because of my husband's family. His mom is a Narc. She is a horrible person and very toxic and destructive to everyone who comes too close to her black hole of narcissistic venom. She has left deep scars on my husband. Because I did not understand Narcs, I studied it deeply to understand my mother-in-law and how and why she has come to be such a destructive and despicable person. The level of manipulation and deception she employs is nauseating. And I knew my brother deep down was nothing like her... I knew he cared deeply about the things we were clashing on... and I figured out he simply needed time to process new information. Once I started allowing time for him to process things, we began to work much more powerfully together to take care of mom. I think autistic people bring incredible abilities and powers of analysis to the table that can be used as amazing tools of thought and thinking to solve complex problems. But because the world has been made for neurotypicals, we are left in the ditch scratching our heads wondering why the heck other people go about this world operating on such a shallow plane of thinking and such a superfical way of being in this beautiful world, at least this is my perspective and experience. I have written an entire novel about this that I have come to see echoes so much of the Issac Asimov's work in his Foundation series. I just finished his last book in this incredible series and I am struck that his most powerful characters throughout the series are most probably autistic individuals. I did not see this until coming to see that I am autistic and that so many really cool people like you and others I have been watching recently are too. Indeed, having come to understand this, I looked up if Asimov was autistic, and it seems he may have been autistic too, as have other powerful thinkers such as Einstein and many other scientists and creators throughout human history. What if this world really needs us? What if how our minds work is absolutely necessary to balance out how neurotypical minds work? These are the questions I explore in my novel, which seems beyond the grasp of most neurotypical readers, but that's another story. Being how I am is a blessing and a curse for it has been traumatic to my sense of self and devastating to my own health. Again, thanks to you... for helping me to realize that I am autistic, and I am in autistic burnout-collapse. Oh--and I just watched a wonderful video of the woman who wrote the book you mentioned and another autistic videographer.... this book seems like a must have for me now!
Was expecting my imposter syndrome to go crazy but I just ended up feeling so seen and relating to all your examples hahaha
What if a narcissist is also autistic, wonder what that would look like?
I’m curious what drove you to become a TH-cam creator.
This is a different way to educate and about a topic we both feel passionate about - I talk some about that in my diagnosis journey video and also more recently in this one th-cam.com/video/FY1R8Z08o18/w-d-xo.html
Its easy to Corporate with other people you just need to prove them wrong and just doing it anyways how you think its right. Thats how i do it. That is what my boss noticed fast. Now he tells me what the goal is and how i get there doesnt really matter if the time i need for it is worth the goal.
Disgnosed AuDHD Keep meeting narcissistic people, and recognising their traits too late. Now just sticking to the people i know and my sewing machine 😔
11:05 I love the reaction from lady on the left 🤭
I found its best to stay busy making art and playing music on my keyboard at home alone. Very calming and healing and no one screaming at me.....
Oh, the times I've been called a know-it-all... (as if that's an insult)
On number one I was like "okay I'm not autistic" but then the rest of the items hit home lmao
If I had even just a basic teeth cleaning I had to stay home from school and sleep it off the anxiety was so bad. The buzzing in my head made me feel like I was dying
I cannot read a map. If there is a dyslexia for maps, I have that. It’s just a spilled bowl of spaghetti to me
The wave I surf is inevitably song lyrics. It’s so bad lol
People do not get autism a huge portion of the population have symptoms of autism. As the a word is a derogatory term to some . No one is supposed to tell you how you are that is abuse. People need to figure out their individual symptoms them selves, sometimes with some guidance from a counselor, therapist, or Dr.
I really appreciate your sharing not just information, but your emotions and vulnerability as well. My husband and I are so similar to you and Debby I’d say it’s almost eerie, but I imagine you must hear that all the time, given how many adults with ASD are undiagnosed. From the childhood experiences to the misdiagnoses to the sensory issues and damn near every physical symptom you described - it’s my husband’s story as well. I am at the stage of slipping my husband bite-sized bits of info about ASD (after a not-well-received attempt - like Debby’s! - to suggest point blank he might be on the AS). We had a big breakthrough IMO over the holiday weekend when he was actually using some of that information in conversation with his mother (it’s taken me 20+ years to realize it’s autism and not NPD that’s driving her). He recognized she has autistic traits and admitted that he’s like that himself…”sometimes.” His finally connecting the dots, even if not completely accepting it, is HUGE. I am looking forward to sharing this video with him - and at the same time, I know he’ll likely go through the stages of grief that you did, which won’t be pleasant. (I’m NT, not heartless.) I’ll do my best to help him get through it, because I know it will be better for both of us in the long run. Final thoughts: Please, more videos with Debby! I love hearing her perspective and insights. And I want to know - how did she cope before she realized it was autism? (Before the penny dropped for me, I had lots of days where I wanted to “throw away the whole man.”) Maybe an episode featuring NT partners and their experiences? 🙂 Love you guys! Keep up the great work!
Bone and joint pain, muscle tightness from stress and anxiety.
This is random but he’s got pretty hands!! 💅🏼
So far, I have shared my problems with problems with dyslexia and my mental health labels. And currently and I tell people this that I am self diagnosed autistic but will be tested after January so I share my labels. And let people know and I have not run into any negative responses.😊

I've had more meltdowns in grocery stores than any other environment. I ❤ to cook, so grocery shopping is kind of necessary but, lord help me.... just let me bag my own groceries and it'll probably be okay unless i get chicken juice or anything I suspect to be chicken juice on me.. then it's over.
Just an asshole
The worst words I could hear from a teacher: "everyone find a partner"
#DrPhil 😉
So helpful! Thank you!
I am high functioning Autistic and i don’t use labels !!! I call it artistic and I have a Chanel that has loads of subs! I have a huge interest in plushies and I find plushies help me because they are very Calming .. keeping the brain Busy
Plushies are awesome!! And thanks for weighing in on this topic - we’re always interested in hearing opinions as this is one that is a challenging issue for many neurodivergent people around the world. To disclose or not to disclose - hopefully with better understanding, it doesn’t have to feel like such a loaded question for us all 😊
Looking at the video, I'm a high masking autistic . I have matched ALL the clues. Oh
1994, 20 years it's been in DSM update serveral times. Major up in 2013 IRRC 2022 with TR5. Why can't these fact be on trivia night. I do get lucky every so often with some off beat bit of trivia I learned 16 years ago.
I think. problem with spit is. house too nice. Me have good house. from oxford, england.
I got bored 1 min into the video😅
The stigma is real, including among medical professionals! So many medical professionals have some mixture of autism/ADHD but aren't getting diagnosed either by lack of awareness or fear of consequences for their career. That of course includes psychologists and psychiatrists, who might then go on looking at their high masking patient like in a mirror and think more or less consciously "Well I'm not autistic, so surely this person isn't either, and everybody experience what they describe, considering that I experience it and I'm normal."
I never used to not shower daily but lately, I've gone without a shower for 6 weeks, and I just cant get out of bed. Im tired!
Oh wow - I had thought I was autistic (or "a little bit autistic") for the past 25+ years, but last year I was diagnosed with ADHD, and thought the only autistic trait I had was textural food issues - but 90% of this is me - including the Anorexia N. Diagnosis (which is where ADHD was first suggested as a co-morbid Dx 4yrs ago)... it's so hard to pull it all apart. My ADHD meds have been life-changing (and life-saving), but I'm still struggling, maybe this is why
I was visiting friends in California in the 70's. I went out for a walk and passed a house wrapped around with a high wrought iron fence. At the gate was a sign that said, "Admittance by appointment only! If you don’t have an appointment, you will not be admitted." I have reproduced that sign and have it plastered boldly on the door! (Notice that there is no phone number for contact. Neither did the sign on the gate in California!) Yet, periodically someone will knock on my door unannounced. Logically, I assume they just can't read!
There is a study showing that NPD occurs at a higher rate in ASD.
I can get into a rage with myself at times when I spill water...
Same for me! 😅
It’s honestly heartbreaking either way.
Bro all my life my mom has been saying I'm autistic and didn't believe her until i watched this and I relate to half of the stuff on here but also out I might have Pica-
I've had several people over the course of my life say that I show traits. Including my sister who has a degree in psychology. I have a friend who's fully convinced I am autistic, but I easily refuted his assessment because I know autistic people personally who I perceive as more severe. But I've been struggling so much lately with burnout and rage attacks and not being able to stay on track with my "hobbies" or "obsessions". And I saw another video of a woman diagnosed in her 30s and I related to it a little too much. So I took some assessments and it turns out I score pretty high. Now I'm just like, oh well who do I consult now to get an official diagnosis. But also it's bending my perspective and I'm starting to reflect on my life differently. Feeling a wide range of emotions.
I absolutely went through this before I was diagnosed… I have a video about my diagnosis journey too that I’ll link below but I understand where you’re at with reflecting differently now on your past. It’s still a long process for me too 😅 but whether or not you do any other assessments, I feel like the biggest changes come from understanding yourself better and making adjustments from there. We’re working on more content for that too! th-cam.com/video/zerlIKPEgTU/w-d-xo.html
5:44 Angry or emotional? Isn't anger an emotion? 😅 I guess, this is an old patriarchy speech pattern we all learned: women get "emotional". Yes, I get emotional, because I am a human being. 😎 I get angry and frustrated when I am interrupted. But I learned to dial down the interruptions, at least at work. At home with a child it's much more difficult 🫠 Time Management is a pain, time blindness is super for hyperfocusing, but for being on time, not so much 😅
Yes, I have certain foods I eat on a daily basis, sometimes for weeks. As I live alone and have dietary restrictions due to an autoimmune disorder, I have to cook for myself all the time, I prepare the same foods over and over to save time.
