    I got better gas mileage with my 2006 6.0 than I do with my 2015 6.0. granted the 2006 was a manual transmission but all the extra crap they put on motors now and get better gas mileage with the old boy. And it was a stump puller with that 5 speed. Even towing a trailer never needed 1st gear.

    Love seeing the 6.0 getting the much-deserved love here. I’ll never forget my 03 6.0. Sold it at 420k on the odo. Only problem was a manifold gasket. One of the most durable gas burners on the road. In my opinion the tundra is the only gasser that is comparable.

    By adding timbren suspension overload springs in SRW my truck handled lightweight camper much better. Better on gas and I only have to replacec 4 wheels, etc. My suggestion is get the most beefed up 3500 gas SRW unless you absolutely need diesel and DRW.

    I'm not trying to stir up trouble, but I've never quite figured out why anyone would buy a short bed truck unless they just got a really good deal on a used one. I get it, each to his own, everyone has their own preferences. I always wonder what the thought process is for the guys who buy a brand new one and they have a choice of long bed or short bed? I hear a lot of dudes say they need the short bed so it will fit in their garage. But, I see you live out in the country and I didn't see a garage. The long beds tow so much better and you can haul more stuff and if you get a fifth wheel, there is enough room for the hitch and firewood, supplies, etc. Short beds jerk around more when towing and they even ride worse unloaded. Like I said, each to their own, just something that has always made me think as I've been driving trucks for over 40 years and have had both long and short beds (only short beds when I got a good deal that I couldn't pass up, lol) Good video, thanks for posting.

    • @UprootedAdventures
      @UprootedAdventures 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Like you said it was just a preference. I lived out in the boonies but go into town and trying to park a long bed heavy duty truck ain't fun lol. The truck is massive as it is. 6 and 1/2 ft bed is plenty long for what I needed it for. I can see if it was a true every day work truck where you're hauling all the time, thats where the long bed would come in handy. But this was my daily driver that was able to handle a decent load when needed type vehicle.

    Id take a 8.1L any day over any diesel or 6.0l gasser. The mpg may be bad but for long term use and repair costs it will save you many thousands. And if do an ammonia dual fuel conversion save you even more many thousands. and mpg wont mattrer as ammonia cheaper than diesel and gasoline

    Had mice getting into the cabin in my 16 Focus. I kid you not, one winter I caught 9 mice on traps in the cabin! Guy that installed my subwoofer sent the power wire through a big hole in the firewall. My brother and I plugged that up and put hardware cloth over the pressure relief vents. No more mice! Engine bay is a much trickier area to tackle tho.

    Your 100% right I had a 05’ 2500hd went 260k problem free miles just gas and go with regular maintenance. Sold it for half of original purchase price 12 yrs later bought a 07 duramax which honestly was better for towing my toy hauler and ski boat , sold it six months ago as I got good money for it with 250k on odometer put most of it in the savings account and just picked up a 06 2500hd super clean from a single owner grandpa here in So Cal for $7000 and only 100k inside super clean was just him and his wife nobody had ever even been in backseat. If you don’t absolutely need a diesel get a gasser and save lots of $$$$

    I committed here two years ago. At that time my 2004 3500 8.1 had 240,000 miles on it now it has 264,000 miles . 90% of the times it has a 25ft gooseneck hooked to it hauling heavy loads of hay or farm equipment. Awesome combo of the 8.1 and the Allison transmission and 4.10 rear gears. This past year I figured it was worth putting some money into it so it got all new front end parts, front wheel alignment, 4 new heavy duty shocks and new tires. It didn’t drive bad before but now it drives like new. I still have my 99 2500 6.0 still using it as my day to day driver and work truck for the smaller things. I did add another Chevy a very nice low mileage 90,800 miles for a 2001 Chevy 2500HD Duramax lb7 Excab Allison transmission 5 speed, 3.73 rear gears it does have a 60hp tow tuner and K&N cold air breather. Which have been extremely well taken care of. One owner was in their mid 70’s . I am also pleased with its performance. About 375hp and 600 lbs toque. 23 mpg highway and average 15.5 mpg city. Compare to my 8.1 330 hp and 450 lbs toque 11 mpg hwy highway and 9 mpg city. My 6.0 14 mpg highway and 10 mpg city. My 04 Chevy 3500 8.1 will always be my truck to pull my gooseneck trailer heavy loads, just can’t beat the 3500 handling loads.

      @@BodyWeakDotNet I never said it didn't work, I said the manufacturer states not to use it in the engine area, and I imagine that is because of the 02 sensor, I doubt tom-cat wants to pay for major engine repair to customers who use it in their engines.....if you need a deterrent inside the engine use shavings of Irish spring, or moth balls, or fresh cab..

      It does not. It does something with the timing to help, but it's not afm like in the aluminum 6.0 or thr 5.3.

    Take chips of strong pain medicine or muscle relaxants, mix with cheese, it will overdose the rats.
