The best chassis is the one you can afford or make work.
Yes. Very true, I’ll take knowledge over new. But new is nice.
You put the valve core back in when rolling internal or does it not matter?
I do. I air the tires up to race pressure.
This answered so many questions as a new guy to karting
Glad I can help.
Hey Ben what prep smells like peppermint?
I’ve smelled wintergreen before. Idk about peppermint. Think it was called wintergreen.
@@kart6t3_ben well crap lol it's top secret around here apparently. Keep doing what you're doing man!
Hi mate. I have a question about your Bama. Where do you get your electric power valve setup?
It’s called zeltronics or something like that. Idk where Buller found it. I’m assuming something road racing or super kart related?
If they only came off that easy!
Right. Tires are a pain.
Is it worth it to wet sand those used friction discs on a granite stone?
Maybe? I’d just be concerned about thickness and air gap.
I wanted a premier got a SLACK and is killing it !!!!
Either, excellent choices.
Amish Ben
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
whats wrong with being Amish?
@@billcyr5588 nothing. Just miss my mustache. 😁
I give them a coat of wd40 after I pressure wash them off after the race night, an usually a coat after the heat race, if I think they feel a little to smooth I fire the kart up an hold some sand paper against them real quick, I keep it simple lol
Do what works man!
Field reset to the prior lap?
Maybe. But usually spinners go to the rear.
Mounting and dismounting tires
I have some videos on those but not combined. 👍
Not sure how far away from ams u are but u should stop down to Lockhart raceway down here in PA its about 2.5 hours from ams best facility on our side of Pa iv got a bunch of videos of the track we would love to have ya down
My friends just came down last weekend. Track does look great to me. I do hope to come down sometime.
@@kart6t3_ben sounds good man hope to have ya down and meet in person
I loved when my son ran treads when he first started racing in the rookie classes. It was definitely cheaper for us. Were hit or miss on slicks. We either get it right or really get it wrong. The more i learn about prepping and the more i talk to people at track on how low they run their duro here in the NE the more i get confused 😆
That does happen. Sometimes to much info is not useful.
Thanks for the POV footage! I agree, you kept your nose clean, threaded the needle, and should of been awarded clean air.
Is what it is. I’ll take the second from 7th.
People are lazy! Everyone wants to just show up and race
I’m sure there are some of those too.
I just started racing go karts last year and I love prepping tires and learning new things with prep i don’t know y anyone would want to ban it besides the people that don’t wanna put the work in to learn how to prep tires. 90% of wins r made through out the week in the shop while the other 10% is made at the track to many people just wanna be lazy and show up one day a week and race and then not touch there kart until race day again that’s what I am getting out of all this. KEEP PREP AROUND
And can u do a video on track tac ssts purple please
It’s in the plans. Just need life to settle down a bit to have time. lol.
I agree with you Ben. It's part of it and I know very little about tires but I enjoy learning and trying different things . Like you say most areas have a track or a class that leans towards those racers, no prep, sealed engines ect.... if that's what you want jump in that class, I probably going to get yelled at but not everyone puts in the work it takes to get good , they just want to show up at the track and expect to win with no effort put towards it. Not everyone is a winner and not everyone deserves to win. Hard work pays off no matter if it's chassis set up or tire prep. I get lucky and win every once in a while, I get beat and I try to work on the areas I'm getting beat in . That's racing to me. If it's not crying about tires it'll be crying about something else.
It’s tough because I do enjoy this portion of kart racing. I do see where people are coming from though.
Just add a class with no tire prep but the extra rule you can't run both class that night. After a few months of that the eliminate which ever has the smaller kart count.
That’s possible too. 👍
Ive posted on a few videos about whether karters would race s no prep. Only because our local quartermidget club has been tossing around sunday night kart racing, but club is afraid the kart prepped tires could get picked up after the dirt gets turned over time having the prepped tires from karts.. if we get caught with prep its a ban.. multiple times its lifetime ban
It can be enforced. The question might be whether it hurts or helps kart counts. We all may disagree on the outcome til it’s tryed.
Thanks for posting this .
Your welcome
What in tarnation is going on here? You handled it better than me! 😂
I switched from can I hold off for the win to can I hold on to second in a hurry.
In my experience with clones if the plug was fouled it wouldn't have even started up for ya... most times a lack of rpm would be valve springs, carb or timing... definitely seems like you got bent over on losing the lead there though unless they or he claimed he spun to try to avoid i guess 🤔
Good to know. I’ll have to ask my engine guy.
@kart6t3_ben never hurts I had an engine that wouldn't go above 6,000 rpm flat footed and it had sheared the timing key ... if your builder laps the flywheel on it can just spin itself out of timing... it's not something super common but it does happen ... and as the valve springs get ran they lose strength and rpm's will drop... I've always been told to change them out every 3 to 4 races for best performance from Dover and a couple others
You got localed by the homies
Possibly. 🤣
Your light is reflecting through your glasses onto your white board on the track tac logo.....too funny!!
I’ve got the eye of Track Tac. Lol.
@kart6t3_ben another awesome video. BTW the $14,000 DKR 50 race got rained out thursday. Waiting on reschedule date
That does not make sense having the lead taken away.. unless they are saying that he was spun by the guy behind him.. the lead was yours..
Yeh I don’t get it either.
That seemed like a BS call to me. You squeezed through there just fine with no contact whatsoever. Well better luck next time man! Keep diggin!
So prep isnt the problem.. you can be fast on Burris without prep... is that the answer,, HELL no. Ben is right it wont work, people will cheat.. What needs to happen at these swap meets is TIre symposiums where Kurt burris comes and teaches what situations need what preps work when and where. or even local shop owners.. Or more importrantly WE NEED TO HELP NEW PEOPLE!!! quit making tires and prep so intimidating by shareing your knbowledge..Yes thats gonna bring them up to speed and make them competition, but that also means they will come back because they arent lost and getting smoked every heat.. I went to Ben hur last night and we had 16 trailers. Not due to economy, but Joes inflation isnt helping anyone. There were lots of big money races surounding and honestly it was nice.. i dont mind small crowds.. do i like having a feature with 16 karts.. yes but a peacefull night of racing is so much more rewarding..
I wish it wasn’t so secretive but people don’t wanna give up speed secrets. I get it.
My local track has a hobby class with sealed engines and Reaper tires with a dirty tire rule. It gives people the option of a low cost way to start racing or just a low key hobby. The hobby classes are popular and get more people into the sport and the ones that want to grow can continue with clone racing and open tires. It's a great compromise that works. Keep the great videos coming!
Love to hear that. Thank you.
we started at Millbridge for that very reason…no way we would have gotten into anything with prep
I still firmly believe if tire prep were banned across the board, it would be huge for the sport and popularity. We’ve had tons of drivers (I’d bet over 100) over the last few years that tried karting and got out quick, and the almost universal answer was they are intimidated by tires and tire prep. It’s unfortunate, but the reality is that unless every track goes to no prep, it’ll just put the tracks who attempt it out of business. They have to survive the initial fallout which I don’t know is possible.
Absolutely hear ya. I do however think that there are some (not a lot) that figure out it’s more then an amusement park ride. Some just wanna show up and race, not adjust, not learn just jump in a kart and ride. I’ll have to do a video on that.
@@kart6t3_ben I do agree that a lot of guys get into it expecting it to be simple, but to me, ignoring their reason would have been foolish. Unfortunately, not enough guys were willing to step outside their comfort zone. Oh well. Back to the old ways we go.
@@DXMPromotions definitely gonna have to show the industry “the new way” will work for sure. Even then there will be resistance. I just don’t like the concept of “I can’t beat that” when referring to tires or whatever. I’m not a defeatist, if someone is better at tires then me I want to except that challenge and become better. In a world of instant gratification it’s hard to convince people to take the long road to success. IMO.
@@kart6t3_ben I agree for sure. I’m personally not scared of tire prep. I wish it wasn’t a thing but to me, I’m okay with trying to learn it, but in the instant gratification world we live in…
Wonder why they have a burris 33 rule is that to sell more prep or keep everyone on a equal compound tire?😂
🤣🤣🤣
Burris 33A only .. probably because Burris either gives them stuff to give away at that track or race .. or gives them money for that series or race
I will be honest. I hate prepping my tires every week but I understand why prepping is done so I will continue to prep them to keep up with everyone else.
Yeh. Everyone has the opportunity to not, but you’re gonna be in trouble if you don’t.
@@kart6t3_ben I'd love to see all the prep go away. When I ran a flat kart around 2000, we had one set of tires. No prep or cutting except the people racing the state series races. Racing with my son in 2018, we had to buy into the tire game if we wanted to compete and have the engine turn the right rpms. It runs the cost of racing a kart through the roof. We spend less racing the outlaw kart since most series run no prep. If guys compared what is spent on tires to the investment in the engine for an outlaw kart, they'd see it's more cost effective.
@@brookingmotorsports6873 I do understand. I happen to like it, just a bigger deal to “ban” then i think most consider is all.
@@kart6t3_ben Yeah, it will never happen. There are a lot less people karting than there were years ago. At some point they will struggle with kart count. We already have too many racing divisions (in and out of karting).
I know him
😁
