2.23 mile Run
Directly into, 8 Rounds of:
5 Power Cleans (185/125 lb)
25 Wall Ball Shots (20/14 lb)
Time: 37:11
Pretty brutal one here. Everything just took way longer than anticipated. About 30 extra seconds on the run, which is fine considering the goal on the run was just to complete it without destroying the legs or lungs. Then the couplet took about 15 seconds longer per round than anticipated. Surprisingly it wasn’t the cleans that was the limiter, although they weren’t pretty or very efficient. The wall balls destroyed me and I split most rounds into some scheme of 7-6-6-6, with relatively large breaks. Overall, the most disappointing part was a mistake I used to make a lot early on reared it’s ugly head here. I’ve worked really hard on going straight into the next movement without resting, and allow the tests to happen during the same movement to save time. Well here I took hug transition breaks which is sad considering I was only trying to complete about 7 wall balls to start or a single clean or two. Still, devastating and happy to complete it. Give this one a go!

    Nice work Max! The first part was meant to ease you in, with the second part having to really enter the pain cave. I was so close to stopping after the third round of the second piece, but glad I was able to finish. Needless to say I wont be revisiting this one for a while haha. Thanks for trying it out!

    This is a great WOD, I love Annie and have a fast time (5:31) because of situp speed, I think you can work on some things: 1. Keep your hips on the ground for the entire movement. Slamming your lower back into the ground isn't helping you situp. 2. I prefer my feet flat on the floor with knees closer together. You can engage hamstrings in this position which helps in the coming up part of the situp. 3. Keep your arms straight and reach all the way overhead with the back of the fingertips touching the ground (keep palms towards to sky). Violently throw arms to help situp. 4. Exhale when siting up, inhale on the way down. Hope this helps.

    I tried it today but pull ups from 10 to 1. After 2 rounds I was able only to pull up in 2x sets. From 20 to 1 its a very good level

      That’s awesome! It’s crazy how fast your pulling ability disappears in this one. I thought I’d be doing sets of 4-5 but ended up with 2-3 really early on.

I’m just a dude who likes CrossFit workouts and does them in his garage. I’ve done the Open a couple times but that’s about it. Started a couple years ago after I stopped coaching wrestling so I could stay in shape.

    i actually love that you keep it so real, i find pull up so challenging, i still have a very, very long way to go, instead i scale it down to knees up, toes to bar sort of thing! Crossfitters can at times be intimidating because when you see their perfect form it makes you wonder, will i ever be able to do that! But then you come along and its like, hey Im not alone haha! Pull ups are extremely taxing but they are an excellent upper body exercise that targets muscles you never knew you had!

      Fair response. I have pretty solid communication with my neighbors and they haven’t complained yet. That being said, I never do any dropping before 9am. Still should look into some drop pads.

      Most of the workouts I do come from a website called “WODwell”. They let you search workouts by movement, type, and time domain so you can find a workout for whatever you’re wanting to work on. Hope that helps.

      @@MeltProgramming I definitely agree. I think I’ll do some sort of scaled version of Events 1, 2, and 4 but that third one with all the gymnastics looks extra spicy.
