    My daughter injured her knee during volleyball, we will not be able to get in to an orthopedic for 2 weeks post injury. It’s been almost a week since injury. When should she start ROM exercises.

      Typically, in children with a knee injury, we may have concerns about growth plate injuries, but these types of injuries are uncommon. If there is no swelling after the injury, the likelihood of a catastrophic injury is low, although it can occur. It is always important to consult with a doctor in these situations. If the person is able to walk after the injury, it is more likely that it is not a serious injury. In this case, it is suggested to focus on range of motion exercises as soon as possible. Even if there is a concern for an ACL or MCL injury, it is still safe to exercise range of motion as tolerated. I hope this answers your question.

    Which is better ? Standing or Sitting Soleuspushups

    • @srikanthnithyanandammd
      @srikanthnithyanandammd 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Performing standing soleus push-ups can be very challenging due to the difficulty of isolating the soleus muscle when standing. However, based on the findings of the study, there are significant benefits from doing seated soleus push-ups for hours. Despite this walking or any cardio is a better overall exercise compared to soleus push-ups. While soleus push-ups may have potential benefits for controlling blood sugar, walking or any cardio can improve overall fitness and consequently increase longevity.

    My age is 41 and before year my RT leg was twisted badly then I had mri . In Mri findings there was full acl tear & medial miniscus grade 2 tear. After that Acl repaired & miniscus left as itis.Then I visited to psyotherpist for 5 months I felt good but from last 3 months I am filling pain between patella and joint line on left side of knee. Now surgeon is suggesting me to take gel injection in that knee . Should i go for this or not. Sir please reply

    • @srikanthnithyanandammd
      @srikanthnithyanandammd 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      YYour symptoms seem to align more with patellofemoral pain, a condition that's not uncommon among individuals who have undergone ACL reconstruction using a patellar tendon graft. Determining whether a gel injection is necessary in your case can be challenging without a direct examination. Gel injections are typically indicated for arthritis, and if a patient is experiencing patellofemoral arthritis, such treatment could be an option to consider. Given your situation, I would advise having a detailed conversation about the potential risks and benefits based on the findings from your clinical examination. .

    Hi Dr. , thank you so much for video. It is extremely helpful. I got knees sprained one month ago, I didn’t pay attention at all, just did normal activities. Two weeks ago, it gotten worse, and I felt my knee was locked and soft when I was walking. Yesterday the MRI reported I had grade 1-2 MCL injury, also small joint effusion. Do you think I should do exercises start from phase 0 or 1? Now I can extend my knee, but can’t bring back, only half way. In addition, should I use ice or heat to reduce my swollen knee. ? At this moment, I can’t get physiotherapy doctor right away . Thank you very much

    • @srikanthnithyanandammd
      @srikanthnithyanandammd หลายเดือนก่อน

      Please start with phase 0. Mcl is extra articulate and should not cause effusion. I suspect that there might be something else that would be causing swelling. How old are you? How is the cartilage on the mri

    • @kevinzhu6395
      @kevinzhu6395 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much for replying. In MRI, Cartilage is normal , only small fluid collection deep to the pes anserine tendons. I am 53 years old.

    • @srikanthnithyanandammd
      @srikanthnithyanandammd หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kevinzhu6395 most likely this is pes anserine bursitis. Sometime you see the fluids around the MCL in MRI but based on clinical context, chances you are having pes anserine bursitis. I would recommend icing, relative rest, start with phase 0 and slowly progress. Pes anserine tendon also share some of the MCL function and therefore MCL rehab is sufficient. keep me posted on the progress.

    He is totally wrong…Insulin resistance is cause for diabetes….To do away with insulin resistance there are only two ways….is prolong fasting at least 14 hours and also exercise.During exercise muscles utilise glucose without insulin….The bigger the muscles the more glucose is utilised…so more important are thigh muscles which are much bigger than soleous muscle…….so that it is the walk or running etc which can lower glucose more effectively than weaker soleous muscle……During walk there is drop of one mg sugar in one minute…..Soleous can’t do this.

    Are wall-sits safe for people with knee issues?

    • @srikanthnithyanandammd
      @srikanthnithyanandammd 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      great question. It all depends on the tolerance of each person. Wall sits themselves are not bad for the knees. However, when someone has arthritis behind the kneecap, it can be aggravating. In that case, one might need to adjust the angle. Otherwise, I usually don't have any reservations about prescribing wall sits to my patients. hope this helps.
