Goldwing Helmet Lock
Your top box is full, the sun is blazing, you want to stop and walk around that lovely lake you are passing...but you cannot think about carrying your helmets yet again, let alone your jackets. Honda's Goldwing has an amazing 'hidden' locking system but it can be made even better and even secure your jackets as well. Enjoy that stroll in the sun!

GoPro Remote Holder
มุมมอง 1.4Kปีที่แล้ว
I designed a holder for my GoPro Smart Remote and have used it everywhere to switch on and off the HERO 7 for a number of years. Last year I upgraded to the HERO 10 and then discovered that there was a new, different, remote that I had to buy! So came up with a different design which worked on my GS. I have taken that design to the next stage and so that it will fit the GoldWing and also suppor...
Overheating iPhone on my Goldwing

I am beginning to really love my Goldwing...yes fully appreciate it is not for everyone, but hey that applies to most bikes!. Fitting the Shad 58 Top Box to the Gold Wing

The panniers on a Goldwing look enormous, but they are a fraction of the size on a GS or RT. A top-box is essential for any touring. You can of course buy the Goldwing TOUR model with the 'armchair' pillion for ulitimate comfort (often embarrassment for the pillion I discover). The 58tr expandable SHAD topbox and fitting kit is a far cheaper solution. Big enough for two full face helmets and so...

Hi, i am replacing the studs on mine now. How much thread is required inside the cylinder head and then how much thread externally? I have 20mm deep holes from old threads so i was going to use 50mm long studs? 🤷🏻♂️
Hi Pete, If the existing holes are 20mm and you haven't had to drill the old studs out then just screw in the new studs until they stop...full 20mm. The danger is if you have had to drill the old studs out as there is an oil channel just after the end of the existing hole that you will not know about. Drill into that and you will never stop oil leaking. So just screw new studs in until the stop and that will be perfect. You will probably have 'Domed' nuts. Everything should work but if the nuts hit there inside stop before they tighten your manifold on then you can either A: trim off the end of the studs or B: Use normal nuts that are not domed. I hope that makes sense...if you are not sure please come back to me. 😀
I used your video to help me replace the rear suspension on my GSA, this is useful to have as one day Ill get round to refurbing the throttle bodies (they’ve got the tell tale rattle!)

Hi Norman i received my RAM mounts and they are great, watching this video on the risers looks like a bit of a nightmare, i purchased some cheaper bar backs for my RT (2022) and thought it would be a easy job. I don't have the removal tool for the bars and cant seem to get them anywhere can you tell me what size they are? being an electrician I can easily get 20mm or 25mm tube and cut it to length. On another subject i have just ordered my Insta360 does your gopro remote mount fit the insta remote?
Hi Steve, As you can see on the video the removal is a nightmare. The extraction tube, bolt and washer came with the Wunderlich Riser kit. The tube is 280mm long, 25mm outside diameter and 23mm inside diameter. The reason I know is that I have just found it!! Thought I would have used that long ago and cut it up. If it helps I can post it to you, no cost. You will have to find a bolt and washer. The GoPro mount will not fit the Insta remote. In fact the GoPro mount will not fit the latest GoPro remotes anymore and I have had to come up with a totally new mount for the GoPro remote (on my web site). Let me look back at my video's to see how I fitted the Insta remote. Will come back to you.
Hi Steve, Had to look at my TH-cam video on the Insta 360 mounted to my RT. I remember the Insta Remote came with a 'half round' plastic holder. I made a solid bar of brass the same diameter as that and drilled it to bolt onto the RH bar as you see in the video. It worked and held the remote fine but just too small to be able to read anything while I rode. However the remotes I believe have changed so whole idea might be different as per GoPro. ??
@@normski3091 Hi Norman that would be great if you can sent tool, don’t mind paying postage. If I get the bar backs on they have a bar for mounting things so I should be able to use the selfie stick strap. Thanks again Norman
Hi Steve...do I send it to Basingstoke Fire Protection as before?

I've got the passenger Backrest fitted, I dont think the box will go on
Really not sure? The Shad Topbox has a passenger back rest as an optional extra. It would be worth asking Shad their opinion. It is such a good product for the Goldwing. I have now added the GIVI luggage rack as the panniers do not have that much capacity😃
Bellissimo video, ottima scelta. Anch'io ho una GW Bagger DCT 2020 e mi trovo benissimo. Bravo e buona strada amico!
Thank you…At the moment we are in a hotel in Stratford upon Avon where I bought the Goldwing having the bike serviced. Pick up after breakfast and head into the Cotswolds for a perfect day of riding😎
Hi just ordered a clutch and brake reservoir mounts. Can you tell me how you mounted your 360 camera?
Hi Steve, I had orders for 5 RAM Bolts on Friday for Canada and Ireland. As I was making them I thought I would make an extra set while I had time on my lath 😄. So just about to go to the Post Office to post yours to you😆. Thank you for your order and supporting me. Fitting the 360 was tricky. As you will have seen it was on my RT at the time. I had fitted engine bars and riding lights. I put a RAM U bolt with 1" ball onto the bottom of the engine bar. Then bought a RAM 1" ball with the 1/4" screw that went straight into the bottom of the Insta invisible selfie stick. I then turn down a 'tube' the same size as the selfie stick at that position, drilled a hole in the side of this tube and there was just enough room to bolt it to the Denali riding light mount. This meant that I could raise or lower the selfie stick to whatever height I required. It worked well but the Insta 360 I had I just struggled to be able to see if it was on or not. The Insta remote was on my handlebar but screen too small for me to see what I was doing. In the end I sold the Insta and bought another GoPro. Just out of interest I looked at the latest Insta 360 the other day and they have changed so much that I think it would work really well on the system I had. Hope that helps, don't have any pictures!! Must rush to the Post Office. very best Norman
@@normski3091 Thanks Norman i have a 2022 RT and have a M10 thread on the right side (probably for a mirror) so was thinking a insta stick would go straigh on there maybe.
@@5teve694 Hi Steve, I presume that the Insta still uses the world wide standard 1/4” thread that rules the photographic world…as per tripods etc. if that is the case you will need a male 10mm thread to go into your mirror socket and then a 1/4” male thread to go into your Insta. I cannot imagine that this is something you can buy😵💫. I did cut 1/4” threads working on mine but it may have been a tap and not a die that I bought. Let me check in my garage and come back to you🤗
Hi Steve, as I guessed I only have 1/4” taps. To make an adapter for 1/4” to 10mm I would need to buy a 1/4” die. Can be done, if you want one let me know and I will make it for you👍

@@dynamicdad1054 yes it is amazing. I lived in the Shetland Islands for 11 years and actually the winters were wonderful, sometimes, it was the summers that disappointed ☹️
I used to really enjoy riding the Snake in the early 90's, on a GRXR1100, then on a gen 1 Fireblade, a different road back then with far fewer double white lines, lighter traffic and no speed traps! I did most of this route only yesterday in fact, Snake, right in Glossop over Torside, then up over Holme Moss but turn right in Holmebridge just before the bridge at the Pickled Pheasant, up over Thurlstone Moor back to Flouch and back over Strines and home. Yes, there have been fatalities on the Snake over the years but no more than any other route. Dangerous? Nah, just enjoyable! 👍 I've had more close calls over Strines TBH, not a major trunk route but much tighter, twistier and a bit of a magnet for boy racers unfortunately. They've just tar sprayed it too so I'll be staying off it for a while.👎
Hi Phil, absolutely right😀. The Strines much more demanding and dangerous than Snake Pass. I did my IAM Masters 6 years ago and the observer, a retired bank manager, took me over the Strines a couple of times as it tests everything about riding. I passed the Masters test but it only lasts 5 years and expired last October. Haven't taken it again because of the expense and I kept thinking 'why'...done it once!
Did you do lots of cuts? If so why? Just curious...
Hi Helen, I power my GoPro from an external powerbank so it will film for 8 hours with a 256gb card. So often I just let it film all day and then cut the video to under 30 minutes. I find that over 30 minutes is too long ... but that is just me.
#TheEclecticBeard Thought you might like the scenery ...its derbyshire peak district..near where i live.
very nice lift
Just done it. Totally agree
Here is my trick Attach the spring to the frame as seen in the video. Get hold of a strong S shaped hook. Now grab a ratchet strap (the kind you use to strap your bike to a trailer) Attach the S shaped hook to the free end of the spring. Attach one end of the strap to the S hook, and the other to the rear wheel. Take up the slack in the strap and activate the ratchet mechanism. Once you have stretched the spring, lever the end into place with a stout screwdriver. Remove the hook and ratchet strap. All done
