Goldwing Helmet Lock
Your top box is full, the sun is blazing, you want to stop and walk around that lovely lake you are passing...but you cannot think about carrying your helmets yet again, let alone your jackets. Honda's Goldwing has an amazing 'hidden' locking system but it can be made even better and even secure your jackets as well. Enjoy that stroll in the sun!

GoPro Remote Holder
มุมมอง 1K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
I designed a holder for my GoPro Smart Remote and have used it everywhere to switch on and off the HERO 7 for a number of years. Last year I upgraded to the HERO 10 and then discovered that there was a new, different, remote that I had to buy! So came up with a different design which worked on my GS. I have taken that design to the next stage and so that it will fit the GoldWing and also suppor...

Fitting the Shad 58 Top Box to the Gold Wing

The panniers on a Goldwing look enormous, but they are a fraction of the size on a GS or RT. A top-box is essential for any touring. You can of course buy the Goldwing TOUR model with the 'armchair' pillion for ulitimate comfort (often embarrassment for the pillion I discover). The 58tr expandable SHAD topbox and fitting kit is a far cheaper solution. Big enough for two full face helmets and so...

    Hello Normski. I used to own a 2018 R1200 RT but recently sold that one and instead I bought a 2020 R1250RS. Question: Do you know if there are bar risers like the onse shown in this video that would be suitable to the 1250RS? I already installed helibar risers on my 1250RS, however they still do not provide sufficient relief for my hands and shoulders. It seems to me that the kind of riser you show in this video would make a big difference. I also prefer to not install a GS like handlebar instead of the original one that comes with the RS. Can you advise? Many thanks!!!

To be sure though to powder coat it has to be removed. They shotblast, powder coat only the metal and then put in a large oven. So whatever I did worked…useless I am, so sorry Liam😵‍💫

    Not the correct methodology. You don't have enough slack in the throttle cables. The brass screws are not idle mixture screws, they are idle air bleeds to set idle speed. These have closed loop AFR management.

    Have done two catastrophic engines with dropped exhaust valves, exhaust side. Since no oil pan first job is to remove the opposite cylinder get a wooden stick, thick grease and spend hours picking out aluminum bits. Correction days picking out bits. Removed the con rod on the damaged cylinder and have it checked for not being bent, if bent straighten or replace. Here in South Africa, BMW s very popular so lots of crashed bikes so an abundance of used parts. Short of a long story purchased for ten thousand rand used piston, rings, pin, cylinder and head.all from the same donor bike therefore no new rings etc needed. Replaced all with the used bike parts including gaskets. Bike runs better than new, uses no oil and is more fun than ever to ride, however for long distance trips a always ride my Suzuki 650 vstrom of which I own two with a combined mileage of two hundred thousand kilometers without a problem. BMW fun to ride but close to home, like a BSA. Question to all, why do modern BMW bikes drop valves mainly right hand side drop exhaust valves without over reving?

I've just bought the larger version of this for my 23 GSA. It's black and although well made the plate the material used is barely up to the job, it twists and flexes under the weight of the bike a fair bit giving you the felling of instability. My garage floor is matted with quality solid PVC tiles which are smooth, anything but smooth, anything other and it's not going to be easy. Because of the instability on anything other than a smooth floor, I think there's a risk of the bike possibly tipping over. I've got another dolly from a another manufacturer and the plate the Wunderlich is made of is a good few mm thinner. Sadly this latter version doesn't have the off set back wheel and the stand interferes with the frame and can't be fully deployed. At £169 it's not value for money, more evidence of cost cutting to protect profit margins!

    • @normski3091
      @normski3091 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Gundimuck, I never had any issue with the thickness of the plate, maybe they have changed it, and once I managed to get my RT on the Easy Park then all was well. Just that it needed so much effort to operate the centre stand I normally gave up exhausted. Then I changed my bike to the 1250GS…no chance. For a start I could hardly ever get the GS on its centre stand anyway so just impossible to get it on the Wunderlich 🥵. I too was worried sick that the GS would tip over. So I put it on eBay and so relieved that I never have to think about it again. A muscular ex soldier bought it😮

    • @Gundimuck
      @Gundimuck หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@normski3091 Yes I think they've changed the spec of the plate used, or changed supplier, as mentioned to increase profits. Mine was in a box marked very clearly on the sides with "Bike It" with just a printed sticker naming Wonderlich. I assume from that it's bought in and relabeled. Wether that is Wonderlich or Nippy Normans doing that I've no idea. I have personally have no issues with getting the bike on the stand, just that it's not as stable as it should be. I don't think it will fall off on smooth surfaces. Just feels unstable as you pull/push the bike. It could well be a different story on anything but smooth surfaces.

    Couldn’t you have taken the new iPhone cable back through the hole where the initial cable comes through? That would save drilling a new hole.

      Hi Bruce, no that is not possible. The cable is flush fit at the factory.😵‍💫

    Thank you. You are one in a million. Great job. Looking forward to finding right dolly for my 2000 Triumph Thunderbird. She got heavier over 24 years. 😮

    Did/can you do this work whilst the bike is on the center stand?

    • @normski3091
      @normski3091 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Daniel, I did the work while on the Big Blue Stand to save me bending down all the time but you do not have to. I have also serviced the final drive when the bike is just on the centre stand🤩

    Well done, great idea with the washers, would you not have considered Powder coating the stand?

    • @normski3091
      @normski3091 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes would love to have powder coated the stand but the cost of one single item is too much. When I used Two Brothers in Sheffield to powder coat I had as many parts done at the same time to save costs😵‍💫

    This was very helpful thank you ! Very clear and detailed explanation . I always use the Google map and you are absolutely right, it does take you on closed routes some times which is very annoying.

      So pleased it helped you🤩. The hardest part is drilling the plastic Goldwing covers, or you could just store them to click back if you sold your bike🤔. You will not really see the ‘holes’ under the frame🧐

    I realize this series was shot over 3 years ago, but I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed watching it. I learned so much doing so, building the courage to start my own project. Just acquired a 30 year old G1100 that will educate me further, as it is in need of a full rebuild (technical and visual). First thing now is buying a Haynes manual, given that the BMW repair manual is missing some guidance where I need that the most. Thanks again for giving back to the BMW community!

    Thank you for a great tutorial. Refitting the reaction bar at 13:55 you mention the torque as 100Nm. Following this torque I managed to snap the bolt. Researching the failure other sources state 43Nm for 04-09. Should this be revised for the tutorial or was my bolt due? Edit: 43Nm was confirmed in earlier comments, hope to get this edited in the video as well!

      Hi Duukkel, sorry for the delay, I have been looking through the manuals and online, but I think you are right 43nm😵‍💫😮. I cannot change the video on TH-cam but I can make a comment in the description. Sorry you broke a bolt and thank you for pointing it out😍
