Motomounts for GoPro Mounting

  • I have struggled for years to know exactly where and how to mount my various GoPro camera's to my helmet. Normally I end up looking very stupid and not getting the correct angle...if you have done this you will totally understand. Then I stumbled on these guys called Motomounts far far away in New Zealand who have designed a mount especially for my very latest Shoei Neotec 2 flip lid helmet, which must be one of the most popular helmets on the market today. They now do NOT 3D print them but injection Told to give added strength. In little over a week the package dropped through my letterbox. Now will it actually fit?
Have a look at their website as they make them for more than 40 helmets!

    Yay, another video from Norm!
Your note says, 'Hey Norman Thanks for your support! Ride safe, Callum'. I'm in New Zealand as well, I'm in Wellington.
Keep up with the great videos, Norm!

Hey Norm, I have a Shoei Neotec and am looking at getting a Go Pro. This looks like a good option for mounting. I would be interested to hear what you think now and how you have it wired into your helmet.

I have one of these mounts although I haven't used it yet. I have a Neotec 1 and hoped it would fit but the profile of the helmet where you attach it is slightly different to the Neotec 2 so it wouldn't be as secure. I'll just keep it until I upgrade to a Neotec 2 now. Nice quality and quick delivery to the UK though. I agree that the supplied extension is too short to get to the flip front release button though and you don't want to keep changing the camera angle to get to it so a longer extension as used in the video is a good idea.

Yeh mount is great. I keep experimenting with the extension arms. You think it is perfect and then realise that too low etc etc, camera angle is not easy, but once you get it OK. I have a HERO 10 and just a lapel mic from Amazon, cheap one. Put the mic under the windshield of my SENA mic and run the cable directly into the back of the GoPro, works great. Then a power bank in my pocket that also runs right into the back of the GoPro. Lasts all day on 4K filming on and off. Changing batteries was an absolute nightmare 😩

@@normski3091 After I posted my comment I found your video on how you set it all up so watched that. 🙂 I found it very usefull thanks. Yes once you've got the camera angle right you don't really want to move it again. I also have a cheapish mic off Amazon but find it a bit crackly intermittently, also a powerbank for my jacket pocket although it also runs off the bike USB when fitted to the frame.

8 months after installing the GoPro motor mount to your Neotec 2, how's it going?

Im going through all this mounting stuff as im after good audio. How has it been so far th amount? I ride with th flip up and wonder if you can swivel it easy to change view?

    • @normski3091

Hi Flapjack, The Motomounts is brilliant for me on my Shoei. It sticks really well and no movement. I did have to use a longer extension as it was too close to my helmet with a short one and would not allow me to 'tilt' it enough to be able to film down the road properly. At first I incorporated a joint with a ball on it so I could swivel the GoPro to exactly the right angle but this made the whole unit so heavy that there was the possibility of the lid crashing down. You would require a really long extension and swivel joint to twist the camera, even a small amount😗

Looks a decent piece of kit Norm. I have mine on the chin, but I used Sugru to mould the GoPro mount to my helmet. Goes off like concrete and has been there for a few years now.👍👍
You watch it fall off the very next time I use it now🤦‍♂🤦‍♂
    Stay safe Norm

You are right Tojjer, it is exactly what I have been looking for...but will my new Hero10 end up in a ditch like a Hero 5 did in Ireland a few years back, never to be found again!

@@normski3091 I certainly hope not, for your sake. Have to say, I've found this Sugru absolutely incredible stuff. Not just for biking things, it's amazing what you can use it for

Nice clear video. My problem is with a GSA and extended screen the chin mount is not a good view. I am afraid with GoPro I am a TellyTubby😂

Having a similar helmet it a great idea, you will only know when you put the helmet on and try and open it to see if the camera gets in the way.

Exactly Neil...but must let it bond for 24 hours.
