  • This is Route Two which I have named the Bakewell Loop because it is!
50 miles that should take you a couple of hours but try and allow a day and really enjoy the places to visit, or better still stay in a B&B and take two days. Go down every mine, buy a Bakewell pudding which is the best thing you will ever eat (or not according to my wife), look for the violin painted on the music room door at Chatsworth...and yes it is a painting. Search for Little John's grave in Hathersage and find the boundary stone in Eyam with the holes where plague villagers left coins in vinegar in exchange for food. So many wonders in just 50 miles.

Thanks Norm…enjoyable route, no doubt. Btw, did you see the ‘Trompe l'oeil’ of a violin and bow hanging on a door at Chatsworth House? 😉

Hi GT, yes it is my favourite painting in Chatsworth. I did film it but too dark to see. My wife, Heather, was born close to Chatsworth and her great grandfather was head gamekeeper so she showed me it back when we first met. Just brilliant 🤩

Lovely bikes those GS’s, but the wind noise coming up between the fork’s drive’s me insane.
