    I’m late finding this video, but so glad I did. What a well crafted project - impressive technical construction skills and a clearly recorded and narrated video. Brilliant!

      Thank you so much...appreciate your comments, even though I have sold the trailer now because I bought a Goldwing and the bike is longer than the trailer...well almost!

      Such a heavy bike, I struggle to get it on the centre stand, let alone a trailer🤣

    Nice one, Norm. Not only is the idea quite brilliant, but the execution perfect. The engineering, while not complex, is perfectly done, had I done that it would have the hallmarks of Heath Robinson all over it. Hope you enjoy Scotland.

      Thanks Ralph. I watch the TH-cam videos of very short bikers throwing GS’s all over the place and just dream of that confidence😩

    • @ralphsmotodiary
      @ralphsmotodiary ปีที่แล้ว

      @@normski3091 same here! I actually wanted a GS but after going to see a few decided against it as I was slightly too short not to be on the balls of my feet at a stop. I opted for the R1200R instead but still have a longing for a GS one day. Off Road Skills based in Wales do some great training days on GSes, I keep promising to book myself a stage one course - maybe later this year I'll actually go. I reckon that would be a major confidence booster and if you can handle a big bike like a GS competently off road it probably makes one a better rider on the road, too.

      @@ralphsmotodiary I am exactly the same Ralph and keep going to the website to book the BMW Welsh experience, and chicken out. I am so useless at low speed manoeuvring and also think the stage one course may help sort me out. See you there🤣

      Morning Ralph, checked out BMW off-road course yet again. Now £595 and booked up until October. Then you need to stay for probably 3 nights, £210 in their suggested b&b and you have to have motocross boots😵‍💫. Watching this series: th-cam.com/video/4IMtZzrsfAQ/w-d-xo.html

      @@normski3091 looks like a good series to watch, thanks for including the link.
      If you fancy doing the off road skills course and want some company then by all means let me know. The wife has given me a green light, assuming I can afford it, and has already been looking into hotels - she doesn't ride but is happy to stay behind and be pampered while I fall over in the mud.
      I'm taking the bike to Northern Europe in a few weeks on a mini tour, if I don't spend too much I might look again at the off road skills course when I get back.
      All the best, Norm.

    Great Idea, I will be thinking about doing something like this myself and towing with my motorhome. Nice...

      @normski3091  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gary, that would be the perfect combination. I have booked two weeks in different cottages in the Highlands in June, but I had to make sure each property had enough parking for a car, trailer and bike. Not as easy as you would think 🤔

      Thank you Randy. I just towed the bike to the Highlands of Scotland for two weeks, the winch was fantastic but my brother was there to help me winch it up and just roll it off. Only took a couple of minutes but I would not dare to do it alone. Saturday I go to the BME Off-road School in Wales…maybe they will give me the confidence😵‍💫

      Hi Phil, have a look at their web site www.phoenixtrailer.co.uk/product/single-folding-bike-trailer/ and click on motorcycle trailers, folding ones. Basic is £1145 but I added every extra I could. Extra width for GS cylinders, spare wheel, extra ramp, locking tow bar and a flip up front wheel clamp. So total around £1500. Now I realise I do not need the extra ramp as I do not think I will ever ride it up. I also have had to remove the front wheel clamp as it is so hard to take the bike off with that on (definitely two people), spare wheel, hope I never use maybe cylinder of gel stuff and think I would now have preferred an aftermarket tow bar clamp. Should have gone with the £1145 option😱

      @@normski3091 first I’m sorry I didn’t ask if your fitting fit as I / hadn’t heard from you until now……. I truly hope your and your boss ( the wuffy ) are in fine fettle.
      For me I have enjoyed a few days here and there on my bike being carful with the grit and black ice patches around, when I was living in Canada my and many others bikes were hidden away for the snow season for many months so great to get out and about….. I have a bike trailer also and struggle to put imy GSA onto it on my own always worrying I’m going to hurt her….. so far so good, There are some great features on yours I like 👍
      Enough of my chit chat I know your a busy man perhaps a update on your new toy now would be good… oh I did have a silly moment of non clarity with my front tire… came out to do my bike check before a ride and found I had a flat …. First check I couldn’t find any untoward problem so I removed the f/wheel and took it to my dealer next day they called me back and the valve stem had loosened DAH !!! Moment for me not checking that… lol. Live and learn EH!
      Anywho sooo glad to see your posting “Sir Normski” ….. “Hey Stay Safe Out There”.

    Hi Normski, I'm thinking of buying a Phoenix trailer for my 1250GS. Nice set up there. Can you tell me is this the standard folding motorbike trailer or the 'fat' version trailer ? thanks

    • @normski3091
      @normski3091  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi George, it is the Standard folding trailer £1145. I have just towed it to the Highlands and back and apart from the first hour, where I expected it to fall off, you then forget you are even towing, so smooth. Trailer is incredibly strong. I was too nervous to put it on and off on my own though. Used the winch to pull it on with a friend steadying the other side, used 7 ratchet straps, overkill I know. When we arrived at our cottage my brother just helped me roll it off…two minutes, easy. I bought a few extras I didn’t need. Two walk up ramps (left one at home), bike chock for the front wheel which seemed like a good idea but no was could I pull the bike off with that in place, so that came off. I have just returned from BMW Off-road School in Wales so I should now have the confidence to get it on and off by myself😅. I will let my bruises heal first after coming off five times on the first day😱😵‍💫

      Just a thought George, if you live close to Derbyshire, you are welcome to come over to my place and have a good look at the trailer before you order🤔
