Hi folks, NatNomad here, an ex-buddhist monk from Laos with a big dream of seeing the world. Throughout my time for over 10 years being a monk I kept asking myself this one question "What life is like out there beyond the monastery?" And because of this question alone made me take a big step in 2014 when I finally say goodbye to my wonderful monastic life.
And now I'm doing what I've always wanted to do. Though I am not quite sure if I can say that I'm living my dream but you know what I'm loving my new adventure.
Please make sure to stick with me so we can explore new exotic places together.
Let the adventures begin!
Thanks so much for your support.

    If the medical treatment, medicine, and hosptalizaition are cheap, it would be okay with no health insurance. Commercial health insurance is way more expensive and only certain groups of pepople buy it. Health insurance is mandiatory in CHINA, but i am sure it hasn's covered everyone, like jobless people, self-employed people.

    • @natnomad
      @natnomad 18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Totally true. For most Lao people they don't trust the health insurance companies, so most people just don't bother buying it.

    Excellent and very helpful video. I do have a question. If staying in Luang Prabang, where is the first local medical care facility that would be best to start with, even though it may be necessary to travel to Vientiane or even another nearby country for further care?

      Luang Prabang provincial hospital is the one you'll be looking for. It is a public hospital, oftentimes a very long queue. Phangkham Clinic is an alternative, which is right next to the hospital. For children, Laos-Friends(Children hospital) should be the one.

    Elephants are such beautiful, magnificent, and gentle creatures. It's heartbreaking to think just how much they have been exploited by us humans 💔 😭 When visiting Laos, I hope more tourists are encouraged to visit these sanctuaries to help support a good cause. Thank you, Nat, for sharing this trip. ❤

      I agree with what you said. Back in the day when tourism was new to Laos. Most of the camps in Luang Prabang provided riding with a huge basket in their backs. Thankfully, people are aware of animal cruelty and exploitation. And then a sanctuary like these two started. 😊🙂

    Nat, I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I travel about half of the time. I have been to Loas a couple of times. I only speak English so it was limiting to me to really make a lot of friends there because of the language barrier. You have done an excellent job with what you are sharing on your TH-cam channel. How did you learn English, you speak it so clearly. Thank you again for an excellent channel.

      Thank you for your greeting from the other side of the world. I am glad to hear that you like what I am doing. I studied my English at the temple when I was a monk. I also keep practicing it a lot, and doing TH-cam does help as well. 😊

    20,000 for the bus looks expensive - until you look at the exchange rate. It's about 30 baht, so less than $1.

      Hi there, thanks for your feedback. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed my contents. I've watched your video and also subscribed to your channel from another account. The 40 Baht extra charged at the Lao immigration is the service fee. It's annoying, I know, as a local person we have to pay 10,000 each time at the immigrations like at Vietnam borders as well as at Khamsavat train station in Vientiane from Bangkok. And also we have to pay 10,000 Kip each om departure too.
