Hi folks, NatNomad here. An ex-Buddhist monk from Laos with a big dream of seeing the world. Throughout my time for over 10 years being a monk I kept asking myself one question "What life is like out there beyond the monastery?" and because of this question alone made me take a big step in 2014 when I finally said goodbye to my wonderful monastic life.
And now I'm doing what I've always wanted to do. Though I am not quite sure if I can say that I'm living my dream but you know what I'm loving my new adventure.
Please make sure to stick with me so we can explore new exotic places together.
Let the adventure begins!
Thanks so much for your support

you don't add padaek to your Orlam?
what's the difference between Lao and Khmu food? I know that Khmu is the indigenous inhabitants of Lao.

Now a new skill, Nat The Cook. I'm very interested in LAOS cuisine. Happy New Year!!!!
👍🏽
Wonderful change of direction for you! Love the apron 😀
Hi nomad I always love’s cooking lao foods! Your English is excellent! I lao food and Thai Esan are very close and the same- Lao - Esan 👍
❤cherrs 🍖 🍚 🍜 🍺 happy new year Nat 👍 😊I
Happy New Year, Nat! 🎉🎉🎉 What a pleasant surprise to hear that you love to cook. It would be great to see more videos like this. I love that many Lao dishes use a lot of fresh herbs and vegetables. In terms of hand washing while cooking, I am exactly the same. You can never be too careful when it comes to sanitation. I'm looking forward to all your upcoming adventures. I also wish you continued success and growth on your channel. 😊❤
Cute
Happy New Year, Nat! Thanks for sharing a piece of Luang Prabang as always ✌🏻
yummy 😋 Happy New Year 🎊 2025🎉
😊😊😊
Thanks
That looks delicious. I hope you have a great new years eve and a wonderful 2025.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. 🤤😋👏🏻👍🏻
We don't eat rat meat, don't have chilli wood, lamongrass as for flavor. We value the looking of the dish
You can move along
Happy new year! Nat

hope to visit Laos again in 2025....
How much is visa on arrival at the border ?
$40 for 30 days. You can have 60 days visa as well. But I'm not sure how much it cost.
@@natnomad thanks for reply. How long it takes to get visa at the border ? Do I need 2 passport photo?
Yes, you need passport photos, if you don't have it just prepare extra cash around $3 they will take one on the spot for you. The time is dependent on how busy it gets. Shouldn't be more than an hr.
My parents are from Laos, and my mom is the same way. Even though my brothers and I are adults and have our own homes and lives, every time my parents visits, or when we visit them, my mom packs food for us.
How sweet. They just never give up on feeding their children. 😊🙂
That green algae with sesame seed we saw at the market but we didn't know what it was and didn't buy to try it. Now we know it's the Mekong weed. But we tried dried bamboo shoot chips at a restaurant for the first time.
The Mekong weeds or Khai Paen is one of Luang Prabang's delicacies. Very easy to cook as well. I hope you can try it on your next visit 😊🙂
That’s excellent for someone to learn English (self taught) by yourself, must have a very good discipline. Some refugees who live here (USA) for over 30 years don’t even speak as well as you.Don’t lose it.
Thank you. I hope I won't lose it. Making the video does help as well as I get to use it often.
❤ this is so beautiful… Right now we’re going through the holidays and being with families is the most important part of the celebration… Seeing you gather with your family to cook together and eat together share things and talk… As a reminder of family 💕.
Yes, it's always good to spend time with family on this special occasion. I hope you had a great time with your family too 😊😊😊
In what city?
This is in Luang Prabang
beautiful scenes
delicious 😋 food 🥘 Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and your family.❤❤❤
Merry Christmas to you too. It's always better to share it with family on a special occasion.🙂
Great to spend sometime with your mom ❤
Yes, I enjoyed this special moment
Thank you, Nat, for sharing your family life in the village with us. It's always so fascinating to learn about different beliefs and traditions. But the one thing that will never change no matter the culture is moms being worried about their kids. You're such a good son to worry about her too. I hope you all enjoy the holidays together. I'm also looking forward to a happy and healthy new year ahead for all of us. 🙏😊❤
Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed the video. I agree, moms are always worried about their kids, no matter where you are in the world! I love recording my mom because one day when she is not around I'll look back to these beautiful moments. I hope you're having a good holiday and spending good time with your family and your beloved ones too. Have a wonderful weekend. 🙂😊
Thank you for sharing your time with your family.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I always love and cherish this little moment with my family.😊
Well done Nat, thanks. ❤👍👍👍🙏
Thank you too for joining my adventure till this day. 🙏🙂😊
What a beautiful, intimate portrait of life in the village with your Mom and family. Thank you 🙏
Thank you. I love and cherish this special occasion with them. The older I get the closer I become to my mom. One day I will miss her a lot.
do you still practice your traditional Khmu religion?
Not anymore. In town we don't practice this, and I prefer going to the temple more. The good thing about being a Buddhist is I am flexible. When I come home I sometimes join the ceremony with my mom.
Your English is well spoken.
Thank you. Big smile here🙂😊
Where did you learn English?
I learned from the temple. Back when I was a monk I spent my free time studying English and practicing as much as I could. It helped a lot😊
I live in USA for 49 years l like your blogs very much keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for being part of this adventure. I really appreciate it. 😊😊😊
Interesting. I don't see much content about the Khmu people.
Not that many. I think I am one of very few Khmu content creators out there. I am hoping to do more of it in the future.
❤
It's a shame to see of course, but we have to take it for what it is... A grim reminder to try to be a more proactive person concerning single use plastics. Much of the litter in my city doesn't make it to the dump, what does is mostly burned... not the best for air quality, but sadly better than the biggest hill in Florida being a heap of grabage I guess
A lot of Lao people also burn their plastic. Dumping it in nature and to rivers is also common here. Very sad to see it.
@@natnomadhere, we get the worst of both worlds! Litter in the fills, litter in our waterways... but we're "the first world?" How telling of our judgements tbh. We're all people trying to heal a hurting world, the suits would rather see it perish sadly. And their buck is worth more than ours
Beautiful footage of the countryside but sad to see the downside of consumerism. 😢
Indeed. I was shocked to come across such a huge area of landfill.
This is the first time I've seen it from Laos. Alright, back to reality, yeah?
Yup, this is one of the three landfills in Luang Prabang. The main one is a bit far from the city.
We have the same thing in America. Garbage has to go somewhere. Preferably a landfill, like this.
I wish we had a better way to take care of them. Laos ha still a long way to go.
On a brighter note Merry Christmas Nat
Thank you. Merry Christmas to you too.🙏😊
For a small country that looks horrendous 😮
Yes, only one small town. Imagine Vientiane capital and big cities like Savannakhet
It's so shocking to see all the human-made waste amongst the beauty of nature. 😢 This just emphasizes the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling. Thanks for sharing this reality, Nat. Also, nice job on the drone footage. Looks like you're getting the hang of it!
Thank you so much for the gift. I really appreciate it.🙏😊🙂 Merry Christmas to you, and the best for the new year to come. Yes, I was shocked by my discovery. And the fact this is so close to town makes it even more eerie. Laos still has a long way to go. People don't seem to be aware much here. At the market no matter what you buy, big or small they always hand you a plastic bag. And we know where it all ends up.
The dark side of consumerism.
Yes, I wish we had a better way to handle this massive trash.
@natnomad on a brighter note I noticed on my recent travels that many hotels (at least the ones we stayed at) have stopped using single use plastic water bottles. Doesn't solve the problem, but it helps to reduce the volume.
Oh that is wonderful to know. At least some business is trying to make a difference. I hope others will adopt the idea.
