I’ve been using the Evergoods Transit Duffel 35 for quite a bit now. Although the version I have is the Carryology collab version, the main difference is the fabric. Functionally, they’re the same. I bought this and within 90 minutes of use the main compartment leather attachment to the zipper came loose. There is an inherent defect in the zip - which leaves a gap, that gets exaggerated easily. Bellroy suggested I fix it with pliers! Poor quality. Shame for what should be a great product.

    • @ofthetraveler
      @ofthetraveler หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there! Technically, the No Reception Club bag is 24L vs. Huhu’s 20L. But… there’s a couple of caveats. Number 1 is that not every manufacturer measure capacity the same. So those numbers may be superfluous. Number 2, it depends how you like to pack. If you want lots of built in organization than the No Reception Club may be the way to go; but if you want a more free flowing experience that can change and adapt a bit more frictionless as the times and kids change, than the Huhu bag will pack better. Hope that helps.

  • @SpeakTruthKindly

    I got this bag about a week ago and I absolutely LOVE it. One clarification: You were trying to store your laptop in the exterior tablet sleeve...not in the internal laptop compartment where it's more than large enough for a 14" laptop. I know this because I store my 14" MacBook Pro inside, along with an A5 leather journal + cover, leather field notes wallet (a bit smaller than a travelers brand notebook), iPhone, keys, a Maxpedition pouch with all kinds of "just in case" tools/grooming/emergency supplies, AirPods, sunglasses, and several large fountain pens. In the external zippered compartment I carry my 11" iPad Pro in a Logitech keyboard case. And in the hidden back pocket I carry an ID badge on a lanyard. I can wear this on my motorcycle without fear of water ruining my electronics. I wear it as a sling in front when on my motorcade or driving a car, and when walking it's on my back (sling mode) or on one shoulder (messenger mode). It is the most comfortable and wisely designed EDC bag I've ever used...and I have tried so many. It even doubles as a handy desk surface (due to its contoured shape) when placed face down underneath my laptop. Sooo versatile.

      Good question! The two approach the same issue (diaper/child bag, but can be used as an adult bag) from different angles. Where the No Reception Club bag focuses on organization at the expense of ease of use, the Huhu bag has less organization but is a near-frictionless experience. Also, Huhu has a better hand feel and looked more “premium.” Your mileage may vary, but for my family, we pretty much only use the Huhu bag now, my sister sometimes uses the No Reception Club because she wants the bag to do the organization for her, whereas I like to use my own pouches and such. As an owner of the Peak Designs 45L Travel Backpack, the Tech Pouch, the Wash Pouch, their Travel Duffel (35L) AND multiple packing cubes I think I can chime in with authority. PD makes GREAT stuff. Period. Their design is amazing. I ended up getting the Small Wash Pouch because the larger one was a bit big and boxy for me. The small one for me is perfect as it holds enough for a good extended stay, has a hook (which is important) and well.. does what it needs to do. For overnight stays or other "short" excursions I use an AER kit which is super minimal. The Tech Pouch is awesome but also big. I LOVE the folding design inside, but often it's too big for my needs (and I travel a bit in a technical sales role). So I use the Tech Pouch for my desktop caddy and a smaller AER tech pouch for travel. NOTHING beats Peak Designs packing cubes (I have the medium, the small and a shoe pouch which are all perfect). The travel backpack is great. I had an issue once with the rivet breaking under heavy load (be careful of how much weight you carry with it) BUT their Customer Service was awesome and they sent me a new one. I've since used other bags more regularly (a Minaal Carry 3.0, a Pakt Backpack and a Tom Bihn Synik 30) all of which I love but at 45L (expanded) I will still use the Peak Design bag. I plan on bringing it on a cruise in a few months again because packing the big cavernous opening works great. I do like the straps for my needs, but wish there were load lifters for additional support (to help take some pressure off the rivets). But that's my .02. Hope this helps someone.

    • @ofthetraveler
      @ofthetraveler 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Dave! Thanks for this very detailed comment. I’ve used the Tech Kit for work, but now just keep it in my car because it’s so big. I carry an Aer Compact Tech Kit and it’s been perfect. I’d agree that there needs to be load lifters on these bags. As someone who has used the Synik, Pakt, and Minaal, which has been your favorite. I’ve toyed with the thought of reaching out to Minaal to send me something - I feel they’re a great brand that’s not talked about enough. Good tip with recognizing the limitations of the rivet, I’d not actually thought about that!

    • @dave.in.oregon
      @dave.in.oregon 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ofthetravelerI take the Synik out on shorter business trips now (1-3 days). The Minaal has been great taking it on longer trips. I took it on a 2 week European cruise last year... but I packed quite minimally. I'm going to take the Peak Design bag out on an upcoming Alaska trip (because it'll give me 45L to pack - I just have to be careful with the weight). The rivets on the PD bags are great for the convenience of tucking the straps away, just be careful when lifting under load. I wasn't and paid the price.

    Thank you for this review! You have reignited my interest in this bag. Two comments: First, the tablet sleeve might be an accessible place to carry flat things like your passport folio. And second, I think the problem you note with the pockets sharing/competing for the same volume is intentional. It allows the bag to maintain a consistent shape no matter how it is packed. Lots of bags design pockets with independent volume, but the trade off is sags and lumps. Different strokes for different folks, I guess!

    • @ofthetraveler
      @ofthetraveler 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You bring up a good point in terms of the tablet sleeve! That would be a good location and pretty secure from it being stolen easily. Generally, I prefer it be slightly easier to get because so often my hands are full and I’ll ask my wife to reach in and grab the passports for me while I’m still wearing it. Evergoods CTB35 does a good job of having dedicated volume for specific pockets. But you’re absolutely right, it’s a matter of choice and what is more important to you. As someone that has traveled with a number of bags, the method Peak Design used is the one most go with.

    Good review but I would have liked to see you pack some items that parents would actually carry. How many diapers would fit? Will my phone with a case fit in the pocket? You say it is a 20 liter pack, I don't understand what that means. Will this hold 20 one liter containers? Will this hold 6 diapers, a 12.5 ounce can of powdered baby formula, 4 onesies, a pack of wipes 2 bibs, a blanket and quart of filtered water? Sounds like a quality product but I would like more detailed info about how practical it would be to use.

      @ofthetraveler 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a solid suggestion. I didn’t do that because each parent’s needs are different. For instance, my kid doesn’t use diapers anymore. We also tend to pack everything in pouches, something not all parents do. My goal here was to showcase the design features and possibilities of the bag as a whole irrelevant of specific needs. I appreciate the suggestion, I’ll keep that in mind for future reviews.

      Good questions, I’ve taken this bag on four multi-week overseas trips and one long domestic trip; so far I’ve noticed no issue with the material at all aside from those spots of shininess I mention in the video. It’s not worn out at all, although, I will say that it does have a sense of wrinkling to it that is typical of this sort of material. If you’re worried about durability, I think based on my use so far, this is at least a ten-year bag.

    Thanks for the well done review. I have been looking for a top-loading personal item/underseat travel bag around 40 x 30 x 15 cm-ish. I know MR has dimensions on their site, but it's not clear if that's a compressed or uncompressed measurement. Are you able to tell me what the compressed measurements are from corners to corners? Other bags in the running are the District Pro - I found this based on your other review, and the Aer Gym Duffel 3 - it actually may work really well as an underseat bag. Minimum items I need to carry are: a Bellroy tech kit, headphones (cans that fold in on themselves, but not flat), 3-1-1 bag, and 13" macbook. I love that all three have a luggage pass-through.

      Hey! Thanks for the kind words. I sold the three-way to make room for some new stuff that’s coming in soon. But as personal items go, this would definitely work as a personal item. I am also unfortunately, despite liking it so much, selling the District Pro at a great price. If you’re interested, drop me an email at the name of this channel, at gmail.com.

    I have had this bag for several months. I do like it for travel. My only gripe is the shoulder harness does not adjust much which leaves the bag hanging low on my body. I also love the 3 way brief as well for daily carry with my pc.

    Oh man, it's how I feel about Evergoods' original fabric. Loved their original fabric because it was unique and it felt nice, even though the black colorway picked up a lot of stuff - not so for the khaki colorway though. Still haven't had a Knack bag. Anyway, always enjoy your reviews!

    These are my favorite every day bags. I have 4 of them. I don't agree with you on the handle though. It's just placed wrong! I usually want to grab and move the bag quickly in order to pass through between narrow spaces or other people in the bus or the train and I can't simply reach for the handle when I wear the bag because it's placed on the back side that comes in contact with my body, so I have to pick up the whole bag like I'm carrying a baby. Totally weird looking and uncomfortable. Also, when someone picks up the bag by using the handle, changes the center of gravity and makes the bag lean towards. It's completely counterintuitive to carry it this way. You didn't even mention the bag's most negative point: The straps get discolored after 6-8 months of every day commuting use (I'm not talking about just wearing the bag for only 10-15 mins till you get to the car, but using it regularly for over 2 hours a day by touching the strap and walking on the street). This makes it look worn out and not good for any office situation. Furthermore, the straps can't be replaced. Fortunately, the guys at Trakke have told me that they plan to replace the material of the straps in 2024, but they still use those problematic cotton straps, preventing me from buying more recent models like Bairn Pro. Maybe that was the reason they removed those straps from the lid on their latest revisions. It's a place that you touch very often and it gets exposed to the sun. The rest of the materials are seriously good.

      Good insight here. The beauty of Carry is that everyone can have different experiences based on their use and circumstances. I am eyeing a Bairn Pro as I plan to get a 14 inch laptop at some point, plus a bottle pocket for me would be amazing. Would be interested to see what material they use for the straps. Thanks for being here.

    I’ve recently came back to this bag after many months of trying other bags, and boy do I miss the sheer quality of the materials and build. A couple of things I would change are… - slightly more dimension in the front pockets - an external quick access zippered pocket at the back I carry an 11 inch iPad Pro which fits perfectly in one of the front pockets, but a better internal compartment for up to a 14” laptop would be great. Despite those small things, I do still absolutely love this bag.

    • @ofthetraveler

      Thanks for that! I completely agree with your assessment. Those minor tweaks would have made this pack significantly more useful to me. I am actually using my Barbarossa today and I wish it had more volume in the front pockets and a grab handle in the back. I bet you feel great while wearing this thing lol

      They serve two different use cases since the 3-Way Briefcase is also a backpack and slightly larger. But if I were to break it down to its essence, I enjoyed using the District Pro more. It was a joy, through and through.

    @ofthetraveler, I own MR backpack but now I am considering a messanger for a specific use. I need a messanger bag to carry 2 laptops and tech gear. I have been using lately Bellroy Venture pack and tech briefcase. but now I’m only going to carry company laptop, and tablet. I looking to reduce my footprint for carrying a backpack and briefcase. most of my trips are typically shorter than just 2-3 days which I pack everything i wear in packing cubes. I am looking forward to ordering this bag. BTW, great review and Thanks!!❤

      Hey Winston, even though this one held two laptops fairly easily, it was still a tad tough on the shoulder. I probably wouldn’t recommend a two laptop setup on a single shoulder solution for a long period of time. Backpacks would be better. But if you do want a shoulder solution, this one of the 3-Way briefcase would be great.
