  • I've been waiting on these bags for a while now; they're finally here! The Bedouin Foundry Barbarossa, a padded messenger bag in waxed canvas and vegetable tanned leather. There's also the Delireis, a rolltop EDC pack, also in waxed canvas and leather. They run on the small side when looking at their supposed capacity. Still, they're beautiful works and definitely keepers.

Thanks for the quick showcase on this.
I was tossing up between the Barbarossa and the Bairn...I ended up with the Bairn based off your 95% / near perfect rating of it!...just received it yesterday!
Really looking forward to your comparison of the two 👍

Marty, please let me know how you get on with the Bairn. I love that messenger. Even with the Barbarossa, I still have been using my Bairn more.

Great first impressions. Congrats on both bags. I’m a big fan of my Barbarossa but now I feel like I need a Bairn to compare

Thanks! I saw go for it, especially if you see it in the cobra buckle edition. I haven’t had a lot of time with the Barbarossa yet, but the Bairn is still my favorite messenger, it’s so versatile - it’s a joy to use.

Bedouin products are off the charts. I’m always amazed at how beautiful they are. Seems like every time I hit their website they have very few products in stock. I’ve been ogling the Genghis for a long time, however, I think I’d be happy with the Barbarossa as well. Great work, thanks for the reviews!

Hey JC, if you’re between the Genghis and the Barbarossa, go for the Barbarossa. Plus they’re fully stocked of most of their stuff now, except for the Navy Delireis, I think I grabbed the second to last one of that bag.

I've been picking things up from Bedouin slowly for the past few years. At this point, I've got everything but the limited Dyneema runs, which I'm not a particular fan of. The Deliries and Mamluke are my travel companions. Occasionally if I'm going somewhere for more than a week I'll bring the Mamluke and the Barbary.

Dude, you hit the duo that I am hoping to one day hit. I have the Bellroy Weekender Plus, so I can’t really justify getting the Mamluke, but I do want it really bad lol How’s it been traveling with the Delireis?

@@ofthetraveler It's a good bag for keeping a tablet, Nintendo Switch, some snacks, and a light jacket or hoodie. Plus the roll top lets it expand a bit if you have something taller than normal. Most of the trips I take now are cross country so the Mamluke rides in the back with my clothes and other stuff I don't immediately need until I arrive.

With Bedouin you sacrifice a bit of functionality for beautiful aesthetics, build quality and materials. I don’t think anybody does it better.
Have you looked into Billingham bags? I love their Hadley Small Pro.

You’re absolutely right. As for Billingham, I was recently introduced to them and the Hadley, it looks compelling. It’s possible in the future I’ll try and borrow one from someone. At this point, I don’t think I can justify buying one.

How are you getting on with the Barbarossa?

I’ve been using it quite a bit for work and a few times out and about with my family. The Barbarossa is a beautiful bag and I can’t help but feel good wearing it. The form never changes due to all the padding; which could be a good or bad thing depending on the use case. So whether it’s empty or full, it’s the same bag. My 13.5 inch Surface Book barely fits in it. I kind of wish it had a back handle like the Bairn. Aside from those tiny nitpicks, I am really enjoying using it. Having this and the Bairn, I feel like I am covered in terms of having a messenger.
