  • I gave an overview of the Muir Project collaboration with Trakke and Carryology in a previous video.
Now, after some months of use, here is a review of the pack from a functional standpoint.

Great follow up. The slack on the shoulder straps can be cinched down. You should not have that loop (besides the small loop used as a puller.) Once you adjust the strap to the desired length you have to run the slack back and then it’s flat and clean.

I’ll give it another look, but I’ve been fiddling with that thing for weeks. It happens when I bring the back tight to me, but if I loosen it maybe an inch, it’s fine.

I cut that plastic clip off the shoulder straps as mine was making the loops as well. I used some TB strap keepers to replace the functionality. Nice review, thanks!

The detachable sling pack is pretty cool, but great job calling out the orientation issue. I think a lot of people would overlook the fact that it’s stored, essentially upside down when attached. The only other thing on this bag that would drive me crazy, is the strap issue. As I’ve gotten more into bags, I’ve come to realize how much cleaner it is to have excess strap material anchored and out of the way.
All in all, this is a really cool looking bag. Would totally consider purchasing. Does this company have any other attachment options where the sling goes?
Also, congrats on your trip, man. Sounds like it was amazing!!!

Thanks for the review. I also have issues with connecting the sling and strap keepers. I ended up cutting the strap keepers off and replaced with Tom Bihn elastic ones.

I’ve thought of doing that, but wanted to really make sure I was keeping the bag before doing so. TB strap keepers are so good! Just about every bag I own has a pair.

@@ofthetraveler I also changed out the sternum strap and moved the original up to the load lifters for a better handle. Also added fidlock to main bag ring to hang my keys. Good bag.

great review dude! Did you find that this material was more "crunchy" than your typical XPAC?

Hey dude! Good to hear from you. Enjoy your content over there. The Ultra 200X material is the crunchiest material I’ve ever dealt with. It’s my main hang up with the bag. I feel like just looking at it produces noise. I’ve come to terms with the wrinkles and noise of it. It’s a mild security feature that if someone even touches it, it’ll make noise. Honestly, even though this pack is a keeper for me because of all its other features, I’d love it a lot more if it was done in Trakke’s usual dry finished wax canvas. By the way, I’ve seen you wear some Miami stuff, are you from 305?

Does anyone know what size are the zippers?

Hey Daniel, I’ve looked in a bunch of different places and I can’t find the size for the YKKs. But based on the looks, they appear to be #5s.
