    I like your reviews and watch most of them.
    Just a few things I would comment on.
    I have a GR Sport Hilux the first thing I did was replace the stock road tyres which are 30.3 inch diameter with 265 70 17 Falken Wildpeaks 31.8 inch diameter.
    A far improved ride quality and on and off road grip as well as ground clearance and appearance.
    I also have a VBox and with the taller tyres on and 6500ks on the clock it did 0-100ks in 9.
    5 seconds.
    Last you know the Hilux has great slide out cup holders in front of both outer vents as well as the second row seat bases are split 60/40 and fold up for good internal storage and it also has paddle shifters which i use all the time in rough off road terrain.
    One last comment you realise the the Gr Sport is definitely heavier than a SR5 so part of power increase is off set by the increased weight.
    Performance of an empty 4x4 to a full decked out one will be vastly different so any weight increase will have an impact

      How much would you say is the improvement in ride quality after upgrading to the bigger tires?

    • @garageblitztv3215
      @garageblitztv3215 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@misterd.924 Yes, when I went from the same brand light truck tyres at the same tyre pressure from 265/65R17 to 275/65R17 and the slightly larger diameter of 13mm or 6.5mm taller sidewalls made a difference to ride quality.
      However, many factors affect ride quality just in the tyre alone. Going from passenger rated tyres to L/T tyres stiffens up the ride considerably - some brands more so than others because of different construction … it’s worth mentioning, because many people miss this, that because the L/T tyre construction is so much more stronger I run the tyre placard pressure of only 31 PSI unloaded, and I can assure you that in my case this is maximum pressure unloaded for acceptable ride and braking safety and control. Some tyre shops put in 45 to 48 psi in the L/T tyres and not only does this contribute to a rough ride, it also reduces your contact patch and contributes to possibly being slippery on wet roads.
      Personally I adjust my L/T tyres all of the time for loaded and unloaded. And while the L/T tyres are way better for loaded vehicles as they don’t bounce or balloon over bumps and they are heaps more puncher resistant, they will never perform like a passenger rated tyre in handling, braking or comfort.
      It takes time to find the best tyre pressure for your vehicle and new tyres, loaded or unloaded. You may already know this - if your wheel alignment is correct and your suspension is not out of tolerance, stupid and dodgy lift, and your tyres are wearing more in the middle you are over pressure, if they are wearing more on the outside they are under pressure. One caveat on this technique and that is the L/T tyres are so strong that they tend to not show up wearing in the middle or outside associated with pressure differentials as fast as a passenger rated tyre.

      @bradleyfryer5563 how bout you? Would you say the change in ride quality was really that noticeable? Like in what instance?

    48 Volt mild Hybrid SR5 Hilux should be interesting 0-100 klm compared to the GR Hilux … Toyota Australia still has the updated (not new) ST5 Hilux at 150kw and 500 NW, but in Europe the same Mild Hybrid system is showing 162kw and 565NW … the GR Hilux is heavier with way less payload and is rated at 165kw and 550nw - no wonder Toyota Australia has not updated the mild hybrid Hilux figures.
    Looking forward to see if your 0-100 times show a performance improvement.

    • @garageblitztv3215
      @garageblitztv3215 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Obviously I should add that the 48 Volt Mild Hybrid SR5 can only produce that extra 12kw and extra 65nw for a number of seconds, due to how small Toyota made the battery, but should help.

  • @garageblitztv3215
    @garageblitztv3215 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Great review, but what is the GR Hilux supposed to be … with a whopping 300 kgs Less payload, but it needs weight in the tray to settle the ride - it’s hardly a more usable and practical Raptor.
    The Ford Wildtrak X is what Toyota should have built, including all the great ideas and a 4x4 system you can use on roads … then just with the GR engine having slightly more power than the X, they would have nailed it!

    • @StellaVermillion-wj7ol
      @StellaVermillion-wj7ol 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You ask what is the Hilux GR-S supposed to be while not asking what's the next gen raptor supposed to be? Lower payload capacity, lower tow capacity....if people buy the next gen raptor for comfor then why not just buy an SUV? SUVs are far more comfortable than any pick-up trucks 😂

      @drivingenthusiastaustralia  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks. Keep in mind same road, same speed, but some other utes don’t squeal - that was the point I was trying to make. I’m testing the vehicle hence why I might be pushing it slightly more than an average drive. There’s little information to gather if I drive (only) very slowly, during testing.

    • @johnnumbat9782
      @johnnumbat9782 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@drivingenthusiastaustraliafair point on your testing regime - the elephant in the room here is that Ford are mostly unreliable so I don’t agree that Ford is a better ute especially given recent issues for new Raptor owners with the digital instrument cluster and stopping fully from 80km without warning - even Paul from Car Expert had to admit he was already having issues with his new Ranger - the Raptor may drive better but dangerous to say it’s better as we know Ford are poor in reliability and service culture towards the public - the only other brand I’d choose is Mitsubishi.

    • @drivingenthusiastaustralia
      @drivingenthusiastaustralia  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@johnnumbat9782 Yeah I don’t normally like talking about long-term reliability as we only test for one week. • @johnnumbat9782
      @johnnumbat9782 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@drivingenthusiastaustralia I own a Hilux because of its reliability not just it’s ability - the Ranger may be a better drive but when you’re paying over 70k you better do your homework first - it’s not appropriate to just focus on its abilities and not give a whole picture of whole ownership being driving and owning so to say it’s better technically is misleading when you’re recommending the Ranger as a better vehicle - at least you chose the better vehicle in the end so full points for that outcome.

    Almost 10 seconds 0-100 is still unacceptable considering some of the competition. It's a half baked attempt at the Ranger Raptor without the bite to match.
    "All bark no bite"
    Yes i know it's a utility vehicle but the interior is just abysmal with the sheer quantity of hard platics in areas that should be atleast soft touch or injection moulded plastics in high impact areas.

      I think if we’ve all been paying attention to Toyotas current track record with performance vehicles, if they had speed in mind, it would be fast haha. If Toyota wanted it to be a “direct competitor” to the Raptor, acceleration would be a key performance feature. Shame the Raptor just comes across as far more gimmicky.
