- The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser in ‘Land Cruiser’ trim ($61,950 starting in the US, $77,290 starting in Canada) is brand new and now comes standard with a hybrid four-cylinder turbo i-FORCE MAX engine. It’s good for 326 horsepower and 465 lb ft of torque, and comes with many off road goodies like a locking differential, detachable sway bars, and a 2400 watt outlet in the trunk. But where exactly does the Land Cruiser fit into Toyota’s lineup among the 4Runner and the Lexus GX? And does this new hybrid Land Cruiser live up to its reputation of reliability and capability? This is hands-down better than any advertising that Toyota could produce on their own. Not only is the thumbnail shot of this thing airborne dope as fuck, but the fact that it still performed fine after being damaged was a huge boon to the whole "it gets you home" narrative.

That's it, lads. You've cemented yourselves as the best car group since TG. The reaction to the jump, the camping bit, the intro, the outro credits. This was truly an epic video.
Two requests have I. 1) can we get an extra throttle house on how the damage was dealt with afterward, and 2) can every video end with the crew standing together in silhouette while medieval tavern music plays? It would be very inspiring, even if you were standing in an alley by a dumpster star staring at a cat.

They don't deal with the damage, the car gets returned to the press car managing company who gives it back to Toyota. At least thats generally how it works.

Yeah...I am disappointed they are only putting the good looking circle lights in a first edition or lower trim. The squinted look with the giant block of black plastic to fill in the gap kinda looks crap imo. Of course I need to see it in person. Could look better. Love the side and back profile.
If I get a Land Cruiser I am gonna get the similarly priced and much better looking GX. Hahah

I have a 2006 Lexus GX470. I have taken it overlanding and hit the cracked plate a tree stumps. Rock crawling with better clearance than the 4runner. I have pulled huge trees when mt tractor wouldn't start. And went through 16" of heavy snow from a Noreastern with no trouble . I made a bed for the back . Aside from the 15 miles per gallon, i love it! I got it in 2020 for $10,500 with 140k miles no rust from the south. I had the maintenance timing belt and water pump changed for $2000. I never want to sell it.
The aftermarket for these things will be awesome. To be completely stock really shows how great this is and the LX. Handled that jump like a champion, got out of a desert with a busted radiator and with less coolant in the heat. It’s a win. We’ve seen other trucks do smaller jumps and blow air bags. Toyota and Lexus forever.
It's also a turbo charged car, so it gets really hot.
It not overheating was impressive!

As a devoted Land Cruiser owner (Series 200) and been, let's say off and back on the beaten path with it, this review is the best presentation of the new Land Cruiser 2024 so far. Informative and entertaining. It also helped me decide on the GX 550 for my wife when the time comes to switch out of her RX 350. Thanks Guys, much appreciated. I will be looking for more real reviews from you.

Ooooh my god!!!! Throttle house for the first time mentioned the mighty 70 series land cruisers in the however many years I’ve been watching. Those things are so rugged, not comfortable or whatever but they WILL get you literally anywhere and back. The best platform to build for purpose, touring, contracting work, weekend toy. Truly a utilitarian machine. Greeting from the South Pacific 🇵🇬
You don't hear about the 70 Series "farm truck" on some channels, cuz we don't get them in North America... Everywhere else in the world, but not us. So we really can't comment on them. Us Canadians rarely see one... Unless we travel abroad or it gets imported.
I probably said this after every one of your videos so far, but THIS IS THE BEST CAR REVIEW I'VE SEEN SINCE AGES. You constantly surpass yourselfes again and again, all the while being authentic and funny, good to see the entire team at the end. what a show!

It'll forever change your life
A day with both patch’ o dirt and the polee would be pure nirvana. Discovered The Poleee by chance while driving with my family. We are going to visit my grandmother for her final Christmas in this world. Seeing The Poleee was truly a special and reassuring moment in this time, and I’ll be sure to tell her all about its magnificence. It sent wonderful energy to us in our brief encounter and will no doubt aid in her journey.

Visit while it's still there! The locals are fighting the city council in court, the council wants to put a greedy capitalistic kid park on top of this beautiful landmark. They tried to reassure people that they'll reuse some of the patch for the park while relocating the dirt "somewhere where it'll feel at home", but we all know it's BS!
In the end, we all know the BIG PARKS will win, with their army of soccer mommys behind them so hurry up to visit it, at least it will live on in our memories.

@@purwantiallan5089 Toyota was never a leader in MPG, not even the Prius. Something about Toyota making the most efficient engines, then retuning them for reliability purposes (so they state).
@@MaverickPhantom Yes because its not very efficient if you have an engine that can have 3l/100km but also breaks after 1000km and you have to replace the engine after that for way more than you saved in gas.

Higher quality than all other car shows, both on YT and traditional media. The chemistry between Thomas and James reminds me of the old top gear, magical!
while I do agree with you that the show exudes some of that old top gear magic occasionally, I have to disagree with your claim that it's higher quality than all other car shows. If I watch throttle house on my phone or laptop the entertainment value doesn't improve much if I switch to viewing their content in my dedicated home theater. On the other hand from the first Hagerty episode I watched in my dedicated home theater I was never able to go back to my laptop or my phone to view content from that channel. It is head and shoulders above everyone else in terms of quality.

it didn't get back home, it made it to the nearest parking lot for repairs before it would have blown a head gasket.
Watch again. They made it to the parking lot then drove the rest of the way home while keeping an eye on the temp. And it stopped leaking.

A Land Rover would have immediately overheated, blown its head gaskets, cracked the engine block, and turned half of its cylinders into shrapnel from that radiator leak. Ask me how I know. The Land Cruiser definitely has the legendary Toyota reliability.

The drive shaft on my 02 discovery 2 fell off while I was trying to get up to 60mph on the highway. I believe you. I’ve had a 4Runner and an FJ since then and I’ve had zero issues with either of them.
@@c1aytonbigsby 4runners aren't perfect head gasket issues on 90s to 2000 trucks. Valve spring issues.

They just don't have the annoying fan base that thinks you don't have to maintain a machine ever and it's perfect forever and never brakes down. They all break down. Yes by far on average Toyotas are more reliable. They are also typically several decades behind on technology.

I can’t give a higher compliment than somehow you have captured a hint of the magic that Top Gear and GT has. It’s the single most difficult thing in entertainment to replicate in my opinion. You have to balance humor with information and host personality dynamics have to be perfect. Keep it up.
Now that was very entertaining, both from an overlanding and comedic value. Nicely done. I will remember this when I hit the dunes.

I love that my new favourite automotive magazine show is made in Canada. You guys remind me of what i loved about Top Gear (before it was all just huge road trips), and the grand tour. You review vehicles in a entertaining yet informative way. which in my opinion TG had lost (the cars became secondary to the entertainment), and now with GT basically being what TG had become before the loss of Clarkson and co. It is nice to find automotive journalists that can review vehicle in a fun and entertaining way, and still be informative. Keep up the good work guys love your content.

Y’all have to smell that fresh morning desert air out there in the dunes!! There’s nothing like it. The quiet is deafening! In some areas, not even an airplane flies above; so you get pure zero sound. It’s serene, and it’s where I usually go to do a digital detox.

Yeah if I was them I’m not sure I could have written anything better. This was organically perfect.
Never thought I would ever see a Land Cruiser get damaged that easy on sand. Not a good look. This is supposed to be a super strong adventurous vehicle that’s super capable. Not having skid plates is not good.
Just imagine what rocks would do to this.
Plus these are the third person to mention the tinny doors. Land cruisers trade mark is his solid the doors and panels are. This is not it.
@@ryanb8736If you listened Thomas said there was a rock hard lip under the softer sand at the top of that dune, that’s what sent them flying and what damaged the radiator. Hitting that at speed is definitely going to do some damage to any car
