    Very interesting and good explanation re the new tec 👍, but !! I don’t know why but most people including auto journalists, that toyota has a very advanced technology called Atrac that is unique to toyota , it’s flippin amazing piece of tec , can’t go into it all here , but in sand and in high range , u hold the traction control button down for like 5seconds to turn the traction control off ( must hold it down not just push it once ) then the Atrac system runs but does not effect the throttle puts traction to spinning wheels but no power loss , that’s how it’s meant to operate in sand especially 👍💪👊Toyota got it down so good compared to competitors 👊

    I had a 2022 sr5 and traded it in on 48v rogue
    Definitely a difference noticed especially when taking off from lights
    No flat spot like the 2022 model
    Stop start is barely noticeable at all
    Thanks for the awesome review and well done

    I just ordered one, super happy with this tech in the Hilux. I have a Camry hybrid and it’s such an awesome car, the way the battery assists take off and stops is so smooth.

      It's great hey! The stop-start is eery for someone not used to it, but definitely not intrusive. The V-active really boosts the engine in take off situations and I was hugely impressed with it.
      Enjoy mate!

    Thanks for putting this up as a review. I wasn’t totally sure about what this slight evolution would mean away from Toyota marketing speak. I also wasn’t sure what the proper spec sheet would look like.
    I have my own opinion regarding this spec of vehicle design being used as a street pony for 99% of its life. They have a place and it’s not the concrete jungle being driven by accountants or project managers.
    Thanks again for your effort, opinions and feedback.

    Is the battery a super capacitor? what is the battery capacity? is the battery air cooled? is the belt wider?

    Excellent video and explanation of the 48v V Active technology. I’m interested in this 48v V Active technology and learn what it is all about, because I’m looking at buying the new gen Prado in the future and it will have this technology. Sounds like this V Active technology, has the vehicle behaving like a manual when you take your foot off the accelerator, and you get engine brake as a result of the motor/generator creating load on the motor to generate charge for the battery, which will mean brake pad wear will be reduced.

    Very clever stepping stone by Toyota, pre-conditioning all the target markets (farmers and tradies and mines), to associate some form of hybrid with the Hilux brand image in a way that they all forget its even there.

    There is already a turbo petrol hybrid engine that’s in the Tacoma in the US it produces 243kw and 643nm it’s a no brainer for the next generation hilux due in 2025

    This review sounds like an ad for Toyota. No critical analysis at all. They have added significant complexity for a very minor, if any, real benefit.
    Fuel consumption benefit is claimed to be, I think, .4 L per hundred. Problem is the battery needed to run the system cost at least $600 to replace. I know, because I’ve got the stop/start system in my own BMW and my wife’s mini Cooper. The batteries cost even more on these European cars. And I turn off the stop start system every time I get in the vehicle because it’s very very annoying.
    I think this is really a marketing exercise by Toyota to try and keep the Hilux relevant until they release the new model.
    Nothing wrong with the underlying vehicle. I’m certainly not criticising the Toyota Hilux as such.

      Hey mate, the lighter towing capacity is for the 4X2 Hilux models. All 4X4 Hiluxes have 3500kg towing capacity.
      Check page 9 of the Toyota Hilux specifications sheet on their website.

    20kgs 😂 is clearly a extremely pointless size battery

    • @offroadcrusader
      @offroadcrusader  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The battery is designed to provide a high discharge rate, not have a huge Amp hour capacity. Even with lots of use I never managed to flatten the battery using the V-active, and it always charged quickly.

    Sounds like a disaster is waiting to happen after 5 years of use under the heat summer :( really disappointed with current govs regulations and Diesel engines itself are way cleaner than any EVs on market

      Toyota been selling Hybrids in Australia since 2001. Might even be good for diesel to prevent glazing of the bores

      Well in this video he was referring to hybrid vehicles as well as this Hilux system. And I agree that this reviewer doesn't have a full understanding of how good the full hybrid system is. Especially Toyota's. It has gone through a few revisions and the latest version are very good.

    • @offroadcrusader
      @offroadcrusader  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have little experience with Hybrid cars, that's true. But I wanted to be clear that the Hilux isn't a Hybrid. It's a turbo diesel engine with electronic assistance, but it in no way emulates a traditional petrol/electric hybrid.
      Thanks for your feedback though, I will endeavour to learn more and articulate my knowledge better in future reviews.
