  • Sennheiser has a well deserved reputation for great audio gear and its headphones are second to none in music reproduction. But are the third generation Sennheiser Momentum Wireless 3 ANC headphones a great addition to the line? Surprisingly, not so much.
Tech expert Dave Taylor of www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ checks out the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless 3 and found that while the sound reproduction is gorgeous, the overall functionality and battery life of the Momentum Wireless 3 leave something to be desired. All is explained in this detailed review.

I’m a DJ and a former sound engineer (30 plus years experience) that enjoys great sounding, immersive headphones. The sound especially at the higher and lower frequencies is superb (best in class). For sound quality I reach for these every time out of my AirPod Max’s, Bose NC 700, Sony XM 4 & 5, AirPod Pros
and Sennheiser truly wireless 3 (2nd choice for sound). The ANC is ok doesn’t cancel out the high end frequencies very well. The “transparency mode” is very mediocre compared to the Max’s and Sony XM 3&4.

Im an audiophile, i purchase those and i was blown away, really another level compare to Sony and bose, now the ANC is a feature not the mean reason of this and work really good and trust me with volume u have u really never gonna feel Nothing. Also this pair has a very low bleeding. Nobody mention this but is very important.
I suggest to update for the best call. Quality.
Material Quality are top notch, with premium leather and metal.
This is very worth the 400$and they sound like the wired hd660.
If you only care about quality get this.
    Thanks for u review .

Good review Dave..The location of the buttons does take a little getting used to and I agree the open and close method of powering off and on is a little hit and miss...In terms of sound reproduction they are exquisite, especially for jazz and I'm talking from the sounds of Miles Davis and John Coltrane to the vocals of Quiana Lynell or Kurt Elling!..But maybe a power switch for the Momentum 4 might be a welcome addition.

Passive listening mode actually supposed to allow you to still listen to your audio, while simultaneously hearing your background. Intended to help in many situation where you still need to hear your environment (like working or exercising outside and need to hear cars approaching).
Also about the Sennheiser app. You can switch the EQ back to a “normal“ EQ with the individual band frequencies.

Objective review, thanks. Can you please give your view - I am between M2 wireless and these (looking at US $100 price diff for me). Main consideration is sound quality and longevity of build/comfort. Don't care that much for NC since I'll use headphones mostly (70%) home (wired mostly) listening to music and playing my Korg Kronos and guitars. Your recommendation? If I get M2 wireless, does its app also allow EQ settings, and if so, can those settings be saved in while using wired connection? Can NC in M2 be turned off? Thanks in advance.

    • @AskDaveTaylor

@@AskDaveTaylor Not the right comparison when assessing them against my Adam Audio S3XH and my home Bose 5.1 sound system for TV but those are my immediate references - these headphones are fine but that "fine" may have to do with closed back design limitation. Love that Senn app allows sound eq (was looking for colored sound which default eq setting did not provide - changed and like what I hear). The only negative is that audio cable is flimsy and very short (will use wired probably 80% of times). There you go.

Hi. I have this headphone Momentum 3 and the momentum 2, and it's indeed not a headphone to listen through hours and hours. My ears hurt and even my head, because it pressed on my head🤭😏
And with the Momentum 2 it's not so tight and pressing on the head, and I easily can listen hours and hours long.....
The earpads on both headphones I don't like. They to quickly are warm and yeah not sweaty but sticky. So for the momentum 2 I bought a pair of fabric earcuffs and they are fantastic🧡
But I would like to change them too on my Momentum 3. But haven't seen them yet....😏in fact if I knew what I know now, I would not buy the M.3 because in fact in bed I always wear the M2 because of the wearing comfort. While I am laying the M3 are not good for me. They even hurt a bit here and there. Sadly....because the sound quality is FANTASTIC of the Momentum 3 😇🎼🎵🎧🎶🔈
