    I just found your channel today and am half through your audio reviews. I wonder why you have so few subscribers and views as your videos are excellent. Although I would love to see you go a little into the tech inside the earphones as I`m also a tech lover and the tech is half the fun ;) Keep it up! Yeah, with more audiophile products, I dive into the drivers a little more. But specs are only part of it really.
      As for Sony stuff, I used to do them, but then didn't have contacts any contacts with them (and they never got back to requests), but I know a few people there now, so if something exciting comes out, I'll be sure to hassle them 😂

    Hey man, long time since I commented on a video, but I do still watch your content regularly and love the quality reviews as always. I owned the Nuraphones for a while and absolutely loved the versatility of their sound and being able to crank the low end on certain tracks with minimal effect on the rest of the frequency response. I am considering the Sennheiser Momentum 3 heavily now since my second pair of Nuraphones broke on me. I am well aware that both these headphones handle sound exceptionally, but I am really looking for something that can compete with the immersion of the Nuraphone in terms of low end. In terms of quantity of bass, how would you compare the Momentum 3 to the Nuraphone?

    • @TotallydubbedHD
      @TotallydubbedHD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers man!
      Don't think you'll get the same level of 'immersion' from any over-ear headphones, as the Nuras are semi in-ears, which naturally gives you better sub-bass thanks to a deeper fit.
      Unless you went for close-back woody headphones for the home (such as the E-MU Teak), you won't get that level of 'feel'.
      The M3s are not bass orientated either - while they have a nice mid-bass response, it would be hard to recommend them if you're after that bassline.
      Still the M3sa are the best sounding BT 'ANC' over-ears on the market

  • @Jez_DeLuna

    Good review.
    I completely agree with your summary. I swapped out my Sony’s for these because I liked the sound so much and didn’t like Sony’s bass forward sound. But over a few weeks of use small things started to annoy me. They’re comfortable especially for their size but quite bulky. Microphone was very disappointing, anything I wanted to do with a voice assistant whilst outside always forced me to just take my phone out and do it manually cause it couldn’t hear me, which was also true during phone calls, which is surprising because the transparency mode was excellent. ANC was really poor in some places which just made me second guess whether I accidentally turned off the ANC. And as much as sound quality is important for me, if I don’t like wearing them all the time because everything else is inconvenient then sound quality doesn’t matter. And whilst it isn’t a game changer the 17 hour battery (which was actually 14 hours with ANC on for me) was just another grievance. It was a good effort by sennheiser but I think I will stick with them and their HD series when at home and the BOSE 700 when travelling/commuting.

    Excellent review. Thank you. I agree with your comment about the undesirability of the lack of a dedicated on/off switch. I would like to leave the headphones stored on a stand and not having to be folded up in a case or laid on the desk in the way. I would like your opinion as to the best sounding wireless headphones for use with an iPhone 11 Pro and Windows 10 PC. AptX would be nice but the iPhone doesn't support that and some comments state that the Momentum 3 sound suffers from the codec incompatibility. What are your thoughts.

      Do you need ANC? As if not, and you don't care about noise isolation, it would be worth considering the Grado wireless.
      And yes on iPhone you're looking for the AAC codec. If headphones don't support it, they'll downgrade to SBC.

    I think it is mistake to compare those to business type oriented ANC headphons suchlike 1000 xm3 or Bose 700. MW 3 are for people who are seeking for best sound you can get from bluetooth headphones. ANC is just the bonus. It makes more sense to compare PXC 550 ver 2 to Sony or Bose although ver 2 is not that different from previous version.

      @@TotallydubbedHD Hard shell case, very long battery life, excellent call quality, best isolation from outside noises and decent sound as bonus...Those are all features important for people who travel a lot, frequently need to use headphones for conference calls or such while on the go and have money to spend on good ANC headphons. MW 3 looks more like an option for somebody who is looking for excellent sound on the go, despises wires and is willing to pay premium for it. That is probably a reason Sennheiser didn't put more effort in to microphones for example.

    Thanks for a gr8 review. I have the M2 wired headset, would the M3 be a worthy upgrade? Curious to know if it'll be a negligible improvement in sound or whether the difference is huge? The highs on the M2 are slightly rolled off & not exactly airy & extended & the bass is just gd enough. I listen to rock, hip-hop, rap, reggae, jazz, etc. Sound quality is super imp for me. Am confused whether i should wait for the Sony XM4 or buy the M3s instead or jst hold on to the M2s.

      The sound quality of your M2 wired may be limited by the amp you are driving them with. Of course, the M3 have their own DAC and amps that sound as good as my wired HD570s and almost as good as the HD600s. The M3s can also be used as wired and can be plugged into a USB port as a "semi-wired" mode.

    One good feature of sennheiser headphones / earphones is that you can use the usb cable to connect it to pc and listen without bluetooth or 3.5 mm jack. The feature I like on my cx7.0 bt, so you can charge and listen at the same time. This is probably why they included type c to type c, so you can listen from your smartphone as well using the usb cable?
    Regarding battery, my sony xm3 doesn't give 30 hrs, its more like 20 hrs in reality. So 17 hrs if you get as much is not that bad.

  • @yourAVGconsumer
    @yourAVGconsumer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    I just picked these up yesterday and they sound amazing. I went literally thru all headphones at BestBuy and none compared to these sound wise. And yes I can confirm the charging takes unusual long...around 3 hrs...but it's not a dealbreaker. And they are super comfy too. ANC is weaker then on the Sonys or Bose but I went for the sound which is more important for me. Plain amd simple if u want the best possible sound...grab these!
    I think the ANC and also the voice recording/microphones might be fixable with a firmware upgrade if Sennheiser pushes one out. They have already a new firmware upgrade pushed when I first took them out of the box and I dont know if that already fixed some of the issues described...at least with the microphones...I know the ANC did not get fixed yet.

    ANC's is much better on the Bose and Sony but the sound quality, soundstage and clarity is no comparison with the Sennheiser Momentum 3's.
    Depending what each person's preference, sound quality and fit and comfort is what I am looking for in headphones and at this price point, this just beats the competition.

    I have recently got the Bowers and Wilkins px7 and have been comparing them with the bose qc 35II that i have with me since a year. The sounstage is more intimate with the B&W and bass slightly more pronounced at less than 100% volume. The bose do get louder at max vol, have more perceived clarity and the bass also gets more rumbly, but you have to be at max vol for that. Do the sennheiser momentums keep their bass intact at 60-70% volumes. I notice that most headphones lose their overall bass reproduction at that volume. I am just concerned about this coz i am a basshead and I want to enjoy bass by not driving up the volume all the way. I want to preserve my hearing as well. I would love to have your opinion on this with regards to the momentums. Also, i have watched your PX7 review and you did not like the mids on them. I also notice the recessed mids, but i can live with that. Thanks!

    • @TotallydubbedHD
      @TotallydubbedHD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My worry here is that you're listening to headphones at 100% volume, and want to preserve your hearing - those two things can't be said in the same sentence :/
      As for the distortion, I didn't experience any when I tested, but I can't recall going over 75% volume as that was really loud.

    • @nipunsharma5351
      @nipunsharma5351 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      totallydubbedHD I have not mentioned anything about distortion. I’m talking about bass at lower volumes. No, I do not want to hear at hundred percent volume. That is the whole point of my question. All I am asking is do these headphones retain their bass presence at 70% volume? Several other headphones that have listened to when lowered below 70% volume, tend to compress their entire soundstage. The B&W PX7 are the rare ones that retain their fidelity and soundstage at lower volumes.

    Wow, I am very, very impressed with your review. I ordered bose 700 and sennhaiser m3 yeatarday because based on reviews I watched I could`nt decide which one is better. Today I found your chanel and this review. So now I know that I want Sennhaiser. My only concern is mic call quality. Best sound and call quality it is what I am looking for. ANC is only nice additional feature, so this one from Sennhaiser would be enough. I also have Momentum 2 wired so maybe I can use cable with microphone with Momentum 3? Greetings from Poland
    Momentum and Bose are in the same price 280 euro. Now Jabra Elite 85h is very cheap 165 euro but I am affraid sound quality is worse than sony and bose.

      To be honest, if you want good call quality, and decent sound quality (not excellent), nothing comes close to the Bose NC700 - the mics on that are insanely good. If audio is more important vs call quality, then get the Sennheiser :)
      As for the Jabra - they will sound worse than the Bose and Sennheiser, but not by THAT much - they also have better call quality of the Sennheiser.
      So to summarise:
      Best sound = senn
      Best calls = bose

    It is bizarre that almost every reviewer who has reviewed headphones and particularly ANC headphones assumes or perhaps encourages the idea that music is supposed to be listened at 100% volume. The kind of soundstage and fidelity they all talk about, in certain headphones at least, is perceptible only at very high volumes. And that includes the Sennheiser momentum 3. Among others the Bose QC35 II and now the Bose NC 700 too. I have also tried this Sennheiser PXC 550 and they too suffer from that. It’s only the Sony WH 1000 XM3 and Bowers and Wilkins PX7 that retain their soundstage, instrument separation and most importantly their bass presence at volumes between 60-75%. This is the crucial part that most reviewers have either no clue about or completely ignore. Listening at full hundred percent volume is anyway not recommended for long term hearing health. How a pair of headphones perform between 50 to 70% volume is the true test of their sound quality.

    • @TotallydubbedHD
      @TotallydubbedHD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry but whoever said that? I normally listen to my headphones at around 45% volume actually; and often test for distortion at the top end (where my ears permit) and the low end for night-time listening.

I made an observation which has flowed from my experience with listening to these headphone (Particularly the B&W PX7 and Momentum 3) There is a considerable difference in volume between these two. At max vol the M3 are much louder than the PX7 but at 60-70% the PX7 retain their instrument separation, highs and overall sound-stage much better compared to the former. That is all. I feel that very few reviews ever mention the volume difference if at all.

      great point, I have just ordered momentum m3 and I hope I will be satisfied, my main criteria is comfort (+I wear glasses) and sound isolation - basically I want them to help me hide from external noises, which I can be very sensitive to when stressed. Not sure what to expect from that volume/quality aspect, but yet I use some Corsair raptor HS40 headset at work an it's volume scale is... well... weird. I typically use them at 1% volume, with 10% actually being not much louder but already unpleasantly loud/harmful to my ears.

      ANC obviously matters in a headphone, but I think ANC is to reduce the effects of external noises to make the actual sound from the headphones sound cleaner or better. So judging by ANC as a first priority, I'm not too sure about that as when there is music playing at >50% volume, a lot of the noise gets blocked out anyway. I've tried cheaper headphones with ANC on planes, and once you go past 50% volume with ANC, it pretty much drains out everything.
