Thanks for the video! I just picked one up for a Hummer H3 with the "Monsoon" audio upgrade and am really excited to finally be able to control the music lol.
I wish it had a tape deck instead of CD changer, so I could actually use one of those adapters.
My only gripe is not having a volume knob, since my steering wheel doesn't have the controls either

Hey Forrest! I just installed this on my car and I use an iPhone. I am having an issue where my voice messages sound really bad and distorted. Bluetooth and phone calls work fine but I send lots of voice messages with CarPlay and those sound like they are clipping. Would you mind plugging your phone into CarPlay and recording a voice memo and letting me know if your audio is also distorted and clipping? Thank you so much! I called Pioneer but they were not able to help me.
Have this radio enjoying so far my only problem, if I listen to radio and turn it off next time I start car the radio station moves to different one. Its not resetting stations it just doesnt stay inthr last one. Any if you having that issue?

Just bought today. Best buy is going to install it tomorrow. I had to get the steering wheel control module because I can't I just can't be touching the volume while driving lol.
For sure, I also use the steering wheel controls for volume.

I just installed this radio in my car, but it seems like when I don’t touch the screen for a while the screen will automatically say display off and turn off the display. I have to touch the screen to turn it back on. Is there something in settings to turn that off?
How do you turn the radio physically off when the car is running?
Hello, did you have to modify for fitment? if so, did you have to cut any of the metal brackets?
I used a number of adapters but made no modifications or cuts.
Did you bypass the parking brake? If so how? I was looking through mine for a "set on" feature to bypass but I'm not sure how to do it on this unit.
hi, I just hooked up a switch, 1 line to the ebrake wire from stereo and other to constant ground. Works no problem, when you get message that can't play back just toggle the switch. I also had a bypass kit hooked up to it but didn't work so did the switch.
Hook the wire up to the chassis of the cd player. Done.
They have a pioneer bypass sold on Amazon

So I just brought this unit for my Chevy Tahoe. I noticed that when I don't have my phone (Samsung) connected I can access the bluetooth features, but once I connect my phone and select Android Auto I can no longer select bluetooth (its greyed out). Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?
Normal I think. Android auto uses Bluetooth in the background so makes sense it isn't available when phone is plugged in and using AA.
I have a DMH-1700NEX I can get the mirroring option to work but can't get no sound. Any thoughts why not. Thanks in advance.

What's the difference between this 1770NEX and the 2770NEX? is the 2770 just newer and faster? They look almost identical
Biggest difference I see is the 2770 has wireless Android Auto and Carplay. 1770 is hardwired only.

@@forrestblank Interesting. Do you think there would be any performance difference because the 2770 is newer? I'm not sure how often they upgrade the hardware like the processor and such, this is my first time looking at the head unit market.
I bought this for my wife's truck and there's a huge difference between Android Auto and CarPlay as fas Maps is concerned. Android Auto doesn't bring up a keyboard to type in a destination or an address, it all has to be done through voice commands. Carplay lets me type in the destinations.
Interesting. It is annoying that Android Auto disables typing into G-Maps. My work around is searching for my destinations before I plug in the phone so they show up as recents in the search box.

@@HoweyJR_ I haven’t been able to try it yet, but do I have turn driving mode off in her Samsung S21 to enable her to type in a destination? It seems like the radio is acting like her vehicle isn’t in park.
@@dannyalonso4400 Just found out from the installer that the parking brake has to be set to enable typing in the destination.
Hi Forrest! Have you had any issues with playing videos from a USB? I’m unable to bypass the safety feature to play videos.

@@andrewhyeon9883 just a basic toggle switch to switch on and off. Probably find one at a hardware store , Autoparts store or even Amazon.
I got a question, my DMH-1770nex when i connect my android it wont detected? Do you know how can i fix that, it read a music usb but nlt my phone, i try both iphone and android
If neither phone will connect at all The next thing to check would be the cable and then possibly the actual connection on the back of the radio. Does either phone start charging when you plug it in?

You have to plug your phone into it.

Can you not connect it wirelessly?
Bluetooth for audio and voice but car play and Android auto are wired only on this model. I think there are some wireless adapters available now. One benefit of the wired connection is that your phone is charging while it's plugged in.
Does this have Alexa built in?
No Alexa on this model.

Is this like the dmh-160bt do you know ?
They look very similar. The only difference I see is the 1770 comes with a wireless remote. I found a comment that the 160 can only store one phone, but I can't confirm. Also I only see the bt160 at Walmart. Maybe it is a model made just for them, pretty common with electronics. Looks like a good deal.

It sounds like either a problem with the USB connection or permissions on the phone. This article has good troubleshooting steps to try. support.apple.com/en-us/HT210892
Bummer man when I plug my Samsung S20 Ultra in, nothing happens :(
That is a bummer. There are a couple threads on the S20 and Android Auto. Seems like some people have success either using a high quality USB cable (no adapters) and/or enabling USB tethering mode which requires first enabling Developer mode on the phone. Hope this helps.

I think it needs to be unlocked only when it gets plugged in.
