      Check out his other vids. Best vids out there if you really want to know what the it can do offroad. Most of the other vids are Starbucks cruising auto journalists who have never been offroad and are amazed that a vehicle can go through some muddy puddles. So they have no base of comparison. Steve’s vids with TFL in particular are excellent. Now Steve- need you to do that comparo with the old Defender and Gladiator with this veh on that same trail again!! Just don’t let Roman drive the Landy- man he’s a terrible offroad driver. Still love him tho.

    Have been struggling with the next move from my trusty Jeep Wrangler JK MW3 but this has opened my eyes. I know this trail really well, there are a couple of difficult obstacles and this Defender made it through even in the wet - I'm impressed. I don't want to give up too much off-road capability but we need to find something... well, a little more utilitarian-lux. Also, I'd like better towing capability, a mediocre Wrangler rated at 3,500lbs goes up to 8,200lbs with the Defender - that's Airstream territory. This could be it. Off to check one out with the offroad package of course. Thank you for making this video series, miss Wheeler Lake just 20 miles or so from my old house near Breckenridge. Have fun, be safe.

      Pulls our 7800 lb 25’ Wakesetter up the pass at 80 mph like it isn’t even there! Wrangler has more articulation but this very capable for 95% of those that will even put it on dirt. It closes everything else out of the water in power and on road performance/ manners.

      @@cotrails8356 Just tested one and it's awesome. Love the design, especially the interior. P400 engine is strong even for a heavy vehicle like this. Only pausing because there are few available with the rear differential lockers (off-road package) and confusion on the configurator whether the tow package includes it (I believe not). My only other concern, it looks like the winch option was an afterthought which is surprising for the brand. Process to add that, cutting panels etc looks horrific. Flawed diamond?

    A few questions about your mods:
    1. Does the use of smaller calibers on the brakes to fit the 18s affect towing capacity?
    2. Any trimming required for the 33s?
    3. Does the mod to the brakes or larger tires affect warranty?
    4. Did you have to re-gear for the larger tires?
    5. Does the package that gives you the locking rear diff or one of the other offroad packages also give you rock crawl mode? Or is rock crawl standard even without any of the offroad packages?
    6. Articulation looked better. Always difficult to tell such a thing from a vid, but it looked that way. Could that be because this one has rock crawl mode and other one didn’t? On my LR4 when describing rock crawl mode it says that it adjusts the air suspension to provide better articulation which is why I ask.

    Hey I have the defender x as well. Mine came with 22. I been trying to figure out the best off road set up. I just got the ats 4s all terrain. But want something much more capable. What is the exact wheel size u have on the x? And do I need to do the lift to put that size tire on ?

    • @cotrails8356
      @cotrails8356  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Were running 18” Tuff Ants. You have to downsize the rear calipers for them to fit
      We prefer Toyo Open Country MT’s or Cooper SST Pros
      33x12.5r18
      Allows you to air down to 15 psi without beadlocks. Big rims are painful on the rocks.
      I’m in a ‘21 murdered out 110 X now with 22’s and same tires. Looks awesome for street👍👍👍. We had to put spacers on and trim front bumper and shield to fit the factory rims with the Toyos on 22’s

    Why not just start with the P300 which has 18” wheels as standard so only a tire change would be required? It’s not as powerful as the P400 but still has roughly 300HP, which is very competitive with the Wrangler Rubicon with the 2.0L engine.
