i never really saw lottie as an it girl shes just kind of a girl. a normal girl with a complex life (like most normal girls)
You kind of look like young Shauna!!
5:03 Yeah, completely lost me. Nothing about their relationship is romantic in the slightest, and trying to make it so is not only rude, but really fetishizing of homosexual relationships. Gross, do better.
In season 1, Jackie makes an off-hand comment about freezing to death, and I remember wondering if it was significant that she said that. Turns out, it was. 😳
My fave thing to yell at the screen when watching Yellowjackets is "READ THE ROOM, MISTY!" 😂
Omg 🤣🤣
I always took the Misty rat drowning scene as Misty being the kinda kid who would have a pet rat. And knowing she was leaving for a short time, she'd never allow someone else to care for it, so she drowned it. Kinda like couples in murder/suicides "if I can't have you, no one can."
I have enjoyed this one so much that I’ve wondered when it will be on either a movie or Broadway
The Mummy was def my bisexual awakening but somehow I missed this one. 😂
The Mummy is great too, so many beautiful people 🥺
Can’t believe this has so few views when everything you said was on point. Oh wait I can because misogyny.
I'm rewatching the show with a friend who has never seen it and so much is clear now. I'm losing my mind over every little thing I missed when the show aired. So excited for season 3 and can't wait for my friend to see the season 2 finale.
Season 3 is so close now ahhh
its a very well planned series, you can tell by the writing
i definitely don’t think ben burned down the cabin. i don’t think he’d be stupid enough to anger a bunch of crazy cabalistic teenage girls by burning down their house
ALSO! i think the cabin burning symbolized them losing their final shred of humanity and fully submitting to the wilderness and its influence. the cabin was the closest thing they had to a creature comfort in the woods and it’s destruction symbolizes the shift to them fully relying on the wilderness
Here is my review of it." Bloody Crap!!!🤮🤮🤮"
Nice try Shauna, we all know you are the antler queen in the pilot.
👀👀👀
@@renrants You kind of look like her lol but you also made good points... I just can't wait for a Valentine's Day for the first time in years and it's for a tv series.
I have a theory about that Allie meet-up in episode one. Those are the main powerhouses of the team in the wilderness - Nat the hunter, Lottie the priestess, Shauna the butcher, and Tai as a still undefined but totally spiritually linked to her more savage side somehow. These are the Antler Queen, in some way. They are the most ruthless, the most decided and the ones to withheld more power when things turn to sh*t. I've been calling Shauna getting jealous of the whole wilderness-leader thing since season 1. Jackie now dead should mean the crown is hers - she's Jackie's second in command, her right hand, right? It's only natural. Except people just... Would rather follow crazy Lottie and washed up Nat apparently. Even if she is one of the smartest YJs, and the one willing to sacrifice anything to keep alive. She cannibalized her best friend, she lost her baby, and she lost Javi, whom she genuinely cared for, even while high off on shrooms and out of her mind while hunting down Travis. Despite all that, despite Jackie being the original queen bee, she dosen't have a chance to even try her hand at leadership there. Even with Jackie dead she's STILL pathetic little sidekick Shauna somehow. She snaps (as per s3 trailer). Taissa will support her because she's her friend, yes, but also because Lottie and Nat are just way too much into witchy woo-woo sh*t for her taste... But here's the thing: Shauna is cruel (at least her teen self during that era is). She is ruthless and hurting and she WILL become a dictator. There's no if about it. They split the remaning jackets, probably even stealing some of the stuff that was left from the cabin fire. Shauna's party leaves. That dissent is exactly why Nat and Shauna as adults still won't see eye to eye. It will probably start out as Ben's judgment, but that's the basis of it: Shauna wants to be a leader but has no skill for it, and Nat dosen't want to be the leader but someone's gotta do it and Lottie opted out after Shauna tried to take HER out of the game. Continuing on: When Shauna turns too violent to rationally justify, that's when Tai will try to wrestle control away from her. Half the girls are still following the "original Antler Queen", but there are those who followed Shauna out and those girls? They're COOKED. They were without a butcher and Shauna's party went without a hunter (if Travis won't join, which I actually believe he will? Even if just to spite Nat. Maybe Shauna will even Jeff-Sadecki his as* by sleeping with him to get another piece of Jackie? Idk idk) and things start to go from bad to worse. More people die. Tai is forced to do some heavy PR damage repair so they can work together as Antler Queens again, because if that keeps up, *everyone* will die. That meeting in s1e1 exemplified how their dynamic works. Lottie and Nat disagreeing with Tai, while Shauna's only thought is, AS ALWAYS (my girl's whipped, poor baby), about Jackie and what Jackie would think of her standing in this. Tai takes action, saves them from the wilderness as she did Allie (although it seemed harsh). Ultimately the four of them need each other. The wilderness is rewarding their coming together time and time again.
Mari is pit girl. Just look at the chin. COME ON
Callie's dig about the meatloaf always makes me so sad. Yes you dumb sh*t your mother, who went through starvation and had to canibalize her friends to survive, consider food an important thing! She wants to reassure you there is food!
Your boy and the heron and this video essay brought me to your channel. Your analysis is captivating thank you for your art!
Thank you so much, comments like these mean so much to me! ❤️
you literally look sm like teen shauna!
Ooooooooo boy time to rewatch the first two szns another three times before szn three comes out 😩🤌🏻
Fr! I'm so excitedddd
I disagree the analysis of the father in the movie since his father shows concern for his kid the film and when you own a factory, that's how busy you are manufacturing parts especially when they are for the Government.
I think his father married his mother's sister after her death because for one thing it was common in many cultures, and also throughout Asia to marry a close family member like a sister or cousin after the death of a wife. Because it's keeping the legacy in a particular clan. There are some good articles about Asian clans and why this was important in the past and in some cases continues to be important. I think the other reason is because it was easier for the dad to process grief and move on through his wife's sister. It was also a coping mechanism on his part. This doesn't excuse a lot of other stuff the dad does or stands for but that gives some context.
subscribed because you included my favorite line "What, there's no book club????"
It's my fave too, haha!
I absolutely love Van and I was so excited when she came in as an adult in S2. I've kind of been hoping that the reward Lottie talks about after Natalie dies will be Van's cancer miraculously going into remission
That's what I think is going to happen which is going to fuel even more of "giving it what it wants"
Agreed, Nat was supposed to die a long time ago. She is always beating death. The white moose is a sign of death.
I fantasize binging Yellowjackets in Van's classic video rental store with Van and Taissa throwing sarcastic love shade at each other ❤
The dream 🥺🥺
> leaving out Lottie's place in the argument RE: Allie and how Lottie and Natalie were on one side of the argument with Shauna and Tai on the other, foreshadowing future frictions and standard team alignments.
I loved that this show is willing to take risks and kill people off. personally, I thought her death was obvious. She'd essentially ended her character arc, and there was no foreseeable character development she could've continued to go through. Her relationship with Lisa was shown in a way that really set up the framework for Natalie's fate. No, I didn't think that Misty would accidentally kill her... but I did totally call it that Natalie would sacrifice herself for Lisa. Especially with Javi's death in the flashback sequence- Natalie sacrificing herself so that a young adult could live really contrasts with her compliance in Javi's death. Further showing how far she's come. Fantastic writing.
Totally agree, it's so sad but imo it was planned form the start
This was a beautifully done analysis thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you so much 😭❤️
This episode was absolutely amazing to me, especially as a former barista & union organizer Starbucks Workers United. After experiencing how horrible that company is firsthand for years, I knew the big reveal would be something Starbucks related, but I was still absolutely gagged by the last shot.
Thanks for sharing your perspective! I bet it was cathartic, haha
Chad is the best thing in this episode
Agreed!!
@ 😁
Can we all agree that boimlers “yee” was the cutest thing ever?😊 Also wait, do Klingon women really have boob windows?! What is going on with there anatomy?!
The "yee" was so adorable fr
@@renrants😊
I am not planning on watching this show because I think it may be too violent and creepy for me but I have been SO curious about it and I am so glad I stumbled upon your video! I was fully engrossed with everything you had to say even though I've never seen the show myself! I really loved how much effort you put into analyzing this and how much effort the show runners obviously put into creating so much foreshadowing and symbolism for people to analyze with such dedication. Maybe one day I won't be such a weeny and watch the show, but for now I feel like I got a good taste of it!
This was such a sweet comment and really made my day, I'm so glad you liked it! Yellowjackets is definitely A Lot ™️ with all the horror and the gore it sure isn't for everyone haha, but it's definitely worth the scenes you have to watch through your fingers. :) If you do ever check it out I'd love to hear what you think!
Princess Num Num having big round eyes with long eyelashes, her little swirly hair bang and her Minnie Mouse high heels 👠 is clearly referencing Coilette’s eyes, bangs and her metallic high heels 👠. Also when Princess Num Num, Calculon and Boxy are seen wearing their new outfits by The Professor, while the paparazzi’s camera’s flashing making their shadows appear in the professor’s logo. If you pause at the right moment Princess Num Num’s shadow is making Coilette’s silhouette. You can see from the top of her hair to bottom part of her hair points out this is another foreshadowing of possibly her returning.
This is just a theory but Frank trying to replace Fry is clearly a paralleling and foreshadowing the Fry from universe 1, will try takeover universe A Fry’s life, since I did notice in the last episode of S12 that when Fry has been getting his headaches and we do see black haired Fry in those past flashbacks. Futurama might be having their own Miguel O’Hara from Across the Spider Verse.
When Leela and Nibbler are playing a futuristic crossword puzzle, the film “2001: the space odyssey” another reference of the Planet Express Ship and this is second foreshadowing of Leela wanting a BFF. Leela needing a bff was hinted in the episode “The prisoner of Benda”, when Leela is in the body of the professor; she can be seen talking with who is possibly a phone operator, acting like they’re best friends but then she said “sure, I’ll hold”. Poor Leela.
amazing videoooo! also obsessed with the blood orange project runway reference- I LOVE THAT CLIP SO MUCH I REFERENCE IT ALL THE TIME
Lmao thank you ❤️❤️ it definitely made me giggle too while I was editing, haha
I did like this episode. Honestly, I felt like early Futurama focused on Fry as a main character a lot more. In the new seasons he's a side character. Fry is central for a reason, and Futurama will always feel less like itself the less they feature him.
I agree, Fry is a great lens through which to explore the world because even now he's still a bit of a fish out of water. He used to also just be more important to major story elements in such a big way and without it a lot of episodes feel a bit aimless
this was such a great watch and made me so excited for the next season!! thank you!!!
Thank you for your kind words 😭❤️ I also can't wait till next season
Has it been said already that you literally look exactly like Sophie Nelisse????
Why is there no talk about how Travis wanted to go to the brink of death to let "it" in and communicate with it or whatever? What happened to Natalie while she was dying was exactly what Travis was attempting to succeed at. It's odd that Javi and young Lottie were on the plane with Natalie -Travis would have made more sense, esp bc he is dead and always on her mind and in her heart. Way moreso than Lottie!! Actually, I thought Laura Lee should have been on that plane too but alas?! Wondering if anyone caught that Nat found Laura Lee's bear AFTER Laura Lee, the teddy and the plane were blown to smithereens!! The teddy also caught on fire, so how did it differently reappear episodes later back on the private plane? Makes no sense. And also, Natalie could be brought back with Narcan (if Misty did use her handy dandy fentanyl!) OR possibly an insulin pen (she mentioned her blood sugar). Maybe Juliette wanted to leave the show but they convinced her Nat is too important to the story and to just be an occasional presence and they'll put her on life support or in a coma-you truly never know with these CRAZY stories!! I think to just kill off Nat after how deep we know her connection to Travis to be and his obsession with needing to get to that boundary near the place between life and death wouldn't be what the writers would do. It leaves Travis' death pointless. None of those other women/team care about Travis and would continue down the rabbit hole of why he did what he did-even Lottie. She just followed his instructions, though closing his bank account when he intended to live truly makes no sense. She never had a bond with Travis. So why have that scene even happen in the show? If they didn't want an adult Travis, have the girls kill him, or mention that he died after returning in some way. I just believe there is more to it, hanging himself in a barn with that creepy symbol that we still don't understand AT ALL and that Juliette may not fully die until that Travis tragedy fully plays out. Something bigger will happen. That's my prediction for what it's worth lol😂
what this video made me understand is that after binging the two seasons in less than a week, i need to rewatch the pilot again to notice stuff. i think that this show (like Lost) is one of those you need to rewatch multimple times to get all the details, noticing more and more stuff everytime
Definitely! There are so many little things that you notice on every rewatch
I really loved Saltburn too and was shocked ppl didn't like it, mostly bc of that tub scene when it didn't even last long😭
Yeah, I'm surprised it doesn't get more love. There are so many great little details and so much care put into it, it's hard for me to understand how lukewarm the reception has been
Real quick you’re confused about the difference between manslaughter and murder. Murder in the first degree means it was planned, second degree means it wasn’t, manslaughter was accidental. It was definitely on purpose so it was second degree murder
I'm a lawyer, murder and manslaughter are generally state charges with a variety of different requirements depending on the state, though generally murder requires malice and aforethought, that doesn't mean manslaughter is always an accident. There are both voluntary and involuntary forms of manslaughter, and voluntary manslaughter can include crimes of passion and other killings that were intentional in the moment. There have also been planned crimes that have been charged or argued as manslaughter based on the circumstances. See the efforts to reduce the charges of the Menendez Brothers to voluntary manslaughter.
@ LMAO not you hitting me with I wrote the law actually
And yeah, there were a few court marshal situations in this episode for sure 🤣🤣🤣
T'ana is basically a walking court marshal lmfao
