I Love Dark Souls so Here’s a Really Long Review and Analysis About It
I've been writing about Dark Souls for nearly a year and this is the end result. I could ramble about the games design, lore, and aesthetic for hours on end and that is exactly what I ended up doing here with this comprehensive review and analysis of my favorite game ever. Hope you enjoy this long winded video filled with, rats, covenants, and quite a bit of Gwyndolin.

The End of Dark Souls
มุมมอง 6Kวันที่ผ่านมา
Gwyn, Lord of Cinder, is the final boss of Dark Souls and the one responsible for the tragic state of the game's world. The finale to Dark Souls is one of the most memorable moments of any game and for good reason; it is fantastic. It has been such a joy to talk about Dark Souls and it is the best narrative I have ever experienced in a game. #darksouls #darksoulsremastered
The Lost Potential of Lost Izalith
มุมมอง 76K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
Alright, I have put it off long enough, it is time that I finally talk about Lost Izalith. I’ve waited so long to talk about this because it is home to some of the most depressing narrative moments while also being a horribly designed area. I don’t like being too negative but that is damn near impossible to do when talking about this clearly rushed and unfinished section of Dark Souls. But if y...
Dark Souls Covenants are the best
มุมมอง 4.5Kหลายเดือนก่อน
At its core, Dark Souls is a game about the need for humanity to reach out and make a connection. So it only makes sense that its multiplayer aspects are not only a ton of fun but also a beautiful translation of this game’s message. Despite a majority of the covenants in this game being pvp oriented they all find ways to have their own unique qualities and they also intersect with each other in...
Why this is my favorite moment from Breaking Bad
มุมมอง 2.5Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Breaking Bad probably needs know introduction. But there is one moment I have always been particularly fond of and it was right at the start of the series in the Pilot episode. The matches in the pool scene is my absolute favorite scene in the show because of how simple it is and how effective it is at humanizing Walter White. In television series filled with extravagant action scenes, it is th...
How One Line Perfectly Sums Up Dune
มุมมอง 14K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
"Lead them to paradise" is a line that has stuck with me and many other audience members. It is a line that perfectly encapsulates the themes of Frank Herbert's Dune. The story of Paul Atriedes and the Fremen is a tragedy because we see the beauty and the love they have for the world become twisted by prophecy and war. Denis Villeneuve is able to perfectly bring this tragedy to life and through...
The Beast Rabban | Rage Is A Mask
มุมมอง 1.2K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
I've been going through a bit of a Dune Obsession and one performance I can't stop thinking about is Dave Bautista's performance as Glossu Rabban. The Beast Rabban is almost cartoonishly angry but underneath all that rage is a fragile man. I think his performance highlights the self destructive nature of the Harkonnens masterfully. #dune
An Artorias of the Abyss Retrospective

Over the years, From Software has gained quite the reputation in regards to their dlc’s for their stellar games and it all started back here with Dark Souls. Artorias of the Abyss is an incredible experience and although it is often regarded as just a boss rush I have real...
The Truth About the Ending of The Sopranos

The Sopranos probably has the most iconic ending in the history of television. It was an ending that shocked just about everyone who watched it. It is a polarizing moment in the series with many people unsatisfied with it while others view it as a fitting end to such a foundational show. I am among the crowd that enjoys this ending and I believe it to be the perfect conclusion to Tony Sopranos ...

A Review of The Sopranos: Road to Respect

The Sopranos: Road to Respect is a tv tie-in game for the playstation 2. It was developed by 7-studios and published by THQ. It follows the story of Joey Larocca and his journey toward becoming a made man. This game is faithful to the show in a lot of great ways but it is prim...

The Coldest Moment in The Sopranos

Tony Blundetto was a character I initially rooted for back when I first started watching The Sopranos. I genuinely thought he was going to change for the better but then he took away any hope of that so quickly. His actions created so much tension between the two families and his close relationship with Tony Soprano wasn't enough to protect him. That Animal Blundetto's final scene is one that s...
Tenet is the Best Mess

Tenet is a pretty divisive Christopher Nolan film. It goes against so much of what we expect from a good action film. It is full of exposition and so many disorienting plot threads but that disorientation is part of why I love the film. Good video overall, good to have someone pointing out the unsung merits of the late game areas. Two corrections I wish to make though: 1. The Skull Lantern is a guaranteed drop for killing every necromancer in the Catacombs. It's a rare drop but you're guaranteed to get one for killing all of them. 2. Nito is the "central" skeleton in the ball. It's hard to make out in-game but concept art and character model view makes it very clear. He's a giant skeleton and he has a bunch of smaller ones kind of fused to his chest. This also makes sense because Nito, as an ancient being, was likely a giant. It's also consistent with the size of his coffin.

I really enjoy a video that’s not complaining and is just kinda vibing on how great the game is. There’s something so wholesome to it. I have an understanding of the deeper lore, my own opinions on Miyazaki’s more complex philosophy slowly explored in every title. I love them all. But there’s something just magical about someone having a great time with it and not shitting on another game in the series or being miserable. We can all learn a lesson in finding our Sun.

Wall of text ahead - I am sorry for anyone actually reading all that: I do wonder - you see - I am what you would call a "Souls Veteran". I started my Fromsoft adventure with Dark Souls 1, later switched to the prepare to die edition, then went on to Dark Souls 2, then Dark Souls 3 and afterwards Sekiro. I got Bloodborne from my Roommates back in University and am currently playing through the shadow of the erdtree expansion for elden ring. Bloodborne was and still is by far my absolute favorite out of the Soulsborne Games. The Lovecraftian themes mixed with the hyperaggressive gameplay are just pure bliss for me. Now with the Elden Ring DLC I dunno how to feel. Don't get me wrong, I like the Bosses being harder (I don't like them being absolute Damage Sponges though, seriously what's with their health??). I like the huge area I can explore, but some of it just feels...empty? I dunno how to explain, there never was a moment in Dark Souls 1,2,3 / Bloodborne or Sekiro where I thought that there was too much downtime. In Elden Ring however I am discovering more and more empty areas, specifically the Abyssal Woods in the DLC. There's just nothing there except for the best boss of the DLC but we got an area the size of 1/2 Limgrave and there's NOTHING there except for a few rats and ONE dungeon with said boss. I dunno. I liked the dungeons in the DLC more than anything else. Maybe FromSoft is just better at the more closed in areas design wise. I had an absolute BLAST with Armored Core 6 to the point of it being my favorite FromSoft game, so they got level design down when it comes to missions and enclosed areas. But the open world is not the best aspect of the game. There's many beautiful areas and visuals, you have messmerizing landscapes and it's got a huge variety when in gameplay variety when it comes to the legacy dungeons. But I feel like all of them could have been non-open world and it would have been fine. I get this is their first attempt at an open world, but somehow they got worse the further you went on in the DLC so I don't know if open world is "their thing". I recently played Ghost of Tsushima. That game also has an open world that doesn't have too much fighting going on all the times, there's random encounters on the streets and fields as well as dedicated camps and castles, but there's much to explore in the open world like hidden character upgrades, new outfits, etc. - the same stuff as in elden ring, it's just way better executed. If we get another Elden Ring DLC, I hope they'll work on their "empty" open worlds since this aspect is very obvious and very annoying. Because as it stands, I kinda gotta agree that Dark Souls 1..it's objectively seen a better executed game in my opinion. I'm just stuck on elden ring because of the QoL improvements. You can jump. You can summon a spirit ash if you truly want to make the game a bit easier for you (or fairer in case of double boss encounters). You have a *MAP* and you can teleport from the get go. Also - better graphics and more weapon variety as well as POWER STANCING.

I love the emphasis you put on the soundscape. I recently did a ER run without music and while it's still good it doesn't hit as hard as previous Fromsoft games. Which is fine, ER is not DS or BB but it shines a light on how incredible DS1 was sonically. Sidenote: There's a a POV video of a person walking from one end of the ER map to another, which inspired me to play the game with no music because I felt the music ruined the vibe (though many in the comments disagreed lol) Also your style and speech remind me of Running Shine.
