Amazing video!! The painted world is my favourite video game level in general, absolutely unique and I can’t think of any other level that feels the same way it does.
My favorite Dark Souls location is the depths because I love to be amongst the rats! Painted world is definitely a close second and definitely my all time favorite snow level!
My favourite area. I like it because it doesn't make sense. I feel like a lot of older media had that quality. Nonsensical, but not outrageous. Gives me that good imaginative brain juice. Not everything has to be perfect to be enjoyable.
Ariamis (and Ariandel in ds3 by extension) is amazing in how it can be both comfy and off-putting. It really has that same sense of atmosphere/immersion that Demon's Souls levels did, and that I personally found somewhat diminished in later games. I always wondered what the settlements in Ariamis (the little buildings and the two big towers) were like before they became the way they are now. I wonder about the relationship between Priscilla and the other inhabitants. Also, in a game that leans heavily on interconnected/nonlinear exploration, it's interesting seeing this isolated world that only has one way out. btw if you wanna avoid the toxic from the blob hollows at melee range, you can try killing them with fire damage (only the killing blow needs to have fire damage, you can use physical first), whether that's with pyromancies or with a fire-buffed/chaos weapon.
I never even got to this area in DS1 but this video triggered a memory for me about going to the OCRemix forums in 2007 and seeing a thread where someone wrote a haiku about how they love snow levels and hate water levels. And you know what, that person was right. Snow levels are almost always awesome and water levels invariably suck shit.
Your channel definitely should have more views. Dark souls 1 will always have a special place in my heart, and has been my favorite game of all time for over a decade. It is very cozy listening to you talk about something i hold so dearly
Hey, I found your channel through your Sopranos videos and subscribed when I saw you were making Dark Souls video essays. I just wanted to say I've found your channel really entertaining! This video was another entertaining one and I look forward to your videos on the rest of the game.
Hi, just leaving a comment to boost the views. I like your take on the place, and I'd like to see a more in-depth analysis of the design of the place and it's lore. Great vid, keep it up!
In my opinion, the reason of impaled bodies is because they are hollow and harm people. So they are immobilized that way. The same goal as the Undead Asylum. And they're also still alive, because of the curse
I played this level yesterday. My solution for avoiding toxic was poking them with the demon spear I’d picked up in Anor Londo. It’s a frickin’ long spear.
About the big head hollows just kill with fire! Literally, just use a Charcoal Pine Resin or infuse your weapon with fire and toxic mist is no more. Now I wonder what are your thoughts on Ariandel?
Do you have a favorite snow level? Hope you enjoyed the video! Have a great day!
Tomba 2 had a comfy snow level
@@swifterik I just know about Tomba 2 because of that infamous GDQ moment
"This world is peaceful, its inhabitants kind"
Priscilla, honey, have you ever met the bonewheels?
Maybe we just see the bonewheels on a bad day…
fire damage nullifies the toxic headbursters as does long range weapons
The signs around purcila is wild
The people love her
Using a weapon infused with fire prevents them from spitting out toxic fumes upon death
I believe any form of fire works on killing those guys without getting toxic
huge fan of the “disgusting hollows who work out at the library” comment

One could argue it is perfect because it's enjoyable!

this level makes the undead merchant happy

Never noticed the parallels between the asylum and painted world. Good insight!

Glad I’m able to help with the niche of Sopranos fans who play Dark Souls!

This series has been a lot of fun to make so far! I’m glad you enjoyed it so much!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that does a little spin before I jump. xD
I don’t remember ever getting poisoned by the big headed blobs, I was using a spear so it counts as melee right?
That’s actually so smart to just poke them!
Better than the snow level where I throw the penguin child off the edge?
Try jump attacking the undead dragons legs :)
And has the best souls like waifu, I simply LOVE Priscilla, she's so beautiful and I love dragon girls!
She seems very friendly as well!
