How One Line Perfectly Sums Up Dune

- "Lead them to paradise" is a line that has stuck with me and many other audience members. It is a line that perfectly encapsulates the themes of Frank Herbert's Dune. The story of Paul Atriedes and the Fremen is a tragedy because we see the beauty and the love they have for the world become twisted by prophecy and war. Denis Villeneuve is able to perfectly bring this tragedy to life and through one gut punch of a line he is able to tell you so much.

Dune Part Two is becoming one of my favorite blockbusters I've ever seen. It stays true to the book while also appropriately adapting it for the screen. Hope you enjoy the video! Have a great day!
so glad Alia isn’t in it lol couldn’t imagine a 2 year old lol
is this channel from Robert downey junior
I think it's a blatant mistruth that Dune 2 stays true to the book. Dune 1 did a great job of introducing new fans to the universe, while providing intricate details to reward those who read the books. Dune 2 goes so far off script that readers can't even compare it to the book.
I love how defeated Paul sounds saying that line. He has become emperor but still loses.
The absolute anti-hero.
It works so well in a blockbuster setting too. I don't think a spectacle like this have ever felt so wrong before.
@@Clavel688 In Dune Paul is not an anti hero but a villian, written in a way that we all will cheer for ,meant as a warning.
He’s not defeated…he’s reluctant
i love that after paul drinks the water of life, timothee goes into much deeper tones of his voice throughout the rest of the movie, but he goes back to his much quieter lighter tone when he says that final line. dropping the facade making the line so much more somber and devastating.
He seems so dazed by the end it feels so real.
Chani immediately sensed he's forever changed.
Add the little hasitation before he delivers the line. He knows what needs to be done, but also knows just how many lives will his Holy War consume.
I took it to mean that he adopted the role laid out for him to achieve his goals, but now that those goals have been achieved he knows he must live with the horrific consequences. A truly bitter moment of reflection.
I never thought Timothy could act like a fucking badass, but he nails it.
The twink-off caught me off guard 😂
My favorite part was when he said, "it's better to have a crack in the sand than sand in your crack."
“They don’t seek to tame the desert, but instead become one with it” is debatable. They ultimately want to transform it into a Paradise, which adds another layer of meaning to Paul’s last line.
What I mean by that was that their motivations were rooted in the planet itself and their relationship to it. By Dune Messiah, they’ve taken the planet for granted and the transformation is now just a symbol of their gluttony. I should’ve clarified that a little more but I didn’t know how to say that without mentioning Messiah.
"He wins the twink-off" is my favorite thing said in relation to this movie lmao
Feyd Rautha is no twink. We saw him without a shirt off when he was introduced. Dude had a six pack and like 20 pounds of muscle on Paul.
wow your vocal recreation was amazing
The Han’s Zimmer pipe is a recreation of THIS video 😂
@@DaveKatague lol
Had to pause the video because I laughed throughout that section
@@JesseJongbloets I laughed, but then I heard the real thing in my head, and I got sad again.
Nice singing dude. Very well done for someone who doesn't have Hanz Zimmer to score his videos for him.
Thank you! I try my best
Ok I was really liking the video and so on, and then you fucking sang the score, and now I'm in love with this video :D
That's why I really, really hope we get Dune: Messiah. That line by Farok about how seeing a sea made him disillusioned just fits this so well
I believe they did confirm that it is officially happening. Very excited to see who they cast for Farok, Edric, and Scytale!
"our elders pointed at second moon and said: look, for there is his soul, and thus they called him Muad'dib. I did not understand all this... "
“Here I am, here I remain” also goes unimaginably hard
Did he really just say "Twink-off"?😮
Definitely agree with that line being the perfect one-line description of Dune movie; it mirrors what Herbert himself stated of Dune - "charismatic leaders ought to come with a warning label on their forehead: May be dangerous to your health."
Amazing. Singing was hilarious, made my night. 👌
I get these songs stuck in my head so I hope my impressions are decent enough lol.
You're right.
Paul is an outsider created for control by the bene geserit witches.
The prophecy was made as a form of control.
Yeah man well said. That stuff is impactful. He almost whispers it because he can't wholeheartedly shout it in good concience
He's just completely surrendered.
I love how the Sardaukar priest is doing the macarena while going bim-bom-bolo throat singing...
You also nailed the throat singing pitch 😅
lol thank you!
That's an incredible smart analyses. Thanks for inspiring my lunch break.
My personal favourite line is when LeAngryBaldMan goes "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHHAH"
Also, excellent cover btw
I like when the bald man goes “YUEK” like a cat
Mouth noises doing the score is on point lmfao 😂
My favourite line from Dune: I hate sand. It's coarse and irritating, and it gets everywhere
Came for the ideology, stayed for the singing
lmao thank you!
Also Paul says Fremen had no technology or resources. By this he acknowledges that all the houses or governments depend on spice and left alone the Fremen do not have the capacity to harvest the spice. So sooner or later the strongest will come to kill the Fremen and take over Arrakis. To me Paul does not create the war. The houses do because each of them covets the spice and see the opportunity to take control. We are left with the idea that Paul is really intending to lead the Fremen to paradise, whatever that means, at any cost. Our world, this science fiction book, is far more complicated than we think.
Great thinking
Awesome 👏 😊
nice singing noodling
That shot of the burning bodies @2:57, are those really Harkonnens? I've only see Dune 2 twice.
Rule or be ruled
I thought it's not the vengeance but the only way for Paul and his family to survive, as he has seen in his visions and said so as soon as he woke up from the poison. But I didn't read the books.
It’s a bit of both! It’s about survival but Paul is definitely guided by a mixture of self preservation and vengeance.
Most people did not seem to get before the knife fight, Paul says to Chani, I will love you as long as I breathe. Then he walks up and dictates to Emperor, he will Marry his daughter, whut it is when the Emperor steps tO TELL PAUL why he killed Leto Paul’s father… He says because your father wanted the heart to rule… the heart cannot rule… did anyone recognize that is what Paul just did… he knew he he would lose Chani by drinking the water of life… but more importantly his actions proved the Emperor correct, because unlike his father… Paul chose power, and put the heart on the back burner. and the closing shots of this powerful film is Chani alone waiting for the most powerful symbol of the desert… the worm… you cannot tell me Paul and Chani and the Princess are not the central players in Dune 3
Chani said he would never lose her as long as he remained the same Paul. I think he was lost in drinking the water of life, or at least was buried by the omniscience of knowing all past and future, much like Jessica was changed. Paul knows (and says) that Chani will end up understanding why he did it, but the movie interpretation makes reconciliation a bit more difficult than the book Chani would be.
Damn. Take my like and subscribe!
the Fremen, Arrakis and Lisan Al-Gaib - The Aiel, The Three-fold land and the Car'a'carn ('He who comes with the dawn')
Either coincidence or Jordan borrowed a few ideas from the Dune series.
Sounds better than Hans Zimmer
I wouldn’t go that far
2:45 this was hilarious!!! pleasse try to do this with epic themes that you obvs cant play on their entierety on videos
I did it with my Tenet video as well lol. I’ll probably do it more in the future as long as it doesn’t detract from what I am saying too much if that makes sense.
Lynch film got way more awesome lines partly because Herbert was involved and from books but it had some good ones
If I’m being honest, the only line I remember from Lynch’s Dune is “The sleeper has awakened.” Such a strange movie but there are things I like about it.
2:29 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"The Messiah is supposed to be a being without flaw" That is completely incorrect, the Messiah is supposed to encourage people to be better despite their flaws as they are a representation OF the people, in spirit. Live amongst in body, understand in mind and nurture in spirit.
Like the video and leave a subscription NOW or I'll keep on singing 😇
fleeby.......
I couldn’t have said it better myself
2:48 Find someone who loves you as much as Stilgar loves jihad.
In the name of God ... or whatever ...
too many can finally do what they want.
Kill, destroy, torture, rule.
Who stands with Earth?
The Fremen are in a better place as they are able to fight for their own freedom and are no longer oppressed by the Emperor, Harkonnen, or Aetredies (no idea how to spell them lol). I fully get that Paul is a false messiah. But I think, If i'm a slave, i'd rather fight than have the status quo of oppression continue. "Death is better than bondage." So false messiah or not, If I'm Fremen, I'm happy to fight all oppressors, with or without Paul. And should Paul become oppressor I'd be happy to fight him. And be clear. They want a "green paradise" they do NOT want a desert of no water. They don't want the current culture where they are oppressed an in the rocks to continue.
I’m not saying they want a desert. I’m saying that they lose sight of their green paradise by bringing their fight off world. Arrakis will transform into a “paradise” but the Fremen will have lost the connection they had with their world and in turn lose the respect they had for it. If they burn bodies, no longer having any respect for humans, how will they be able to respect themselves and their world?
You are wrong. Fremen are no innocent. They use Paul as Paul uses them. It's a deal even if it's shrouded in messianic terms
L take.... smh

I am completely disconnected from popular filmmaking
I despise the love it receives
okay man
You are weak
You despise humanity more than popular filmmaking. Be careful with bitterness. You can lose years of your life to the warmth of that small fire. You do not need to keep kindling it.
You have a point but Dune is okay. It's watchable. Try it.
@@magonus195 i reject your kindness 👺
doowoooooooooo ooooooooowahoooooo
This isn't true at all. The whole premise of the books is that there is a golden path in which humanity would be able to flourish and Paul is leading them down that path. Otherwise, humanity would extinguish itself with infighting as was seen with what was going on with the great houses.
That single line is one of the dumbest lines in the whole movie. He threatened to destroy the spice. If they didn't back off. They didn't. Was he bluffing? Apparently. The line should have been destroy the spice fields . The Spacing Guild has been a bigger part of every other version of Dune. This version didn't really emphasize the importance of spice. The Spacing Guild allowed everything to happen. They wanted Paul dead cuz they could foresee this possibility. Once he was in charge they stopped the war because they were terrified of losing the spice.
