Building An AR15? Watch This First! Part Selection Considerations

This is my opinion of what parts you should use, when building your AR15. This is for a serious use AR, but your needs may vary. I am not an expert but I have learned a lot of useful info over the past few years, in classes and at the range. I hope this helps you build a rifle correctly the first time, saving you money. My short term review of the CVlife 1-6x BDC LPVO. This is my favorite reticle that I have used on an LPVO to date. The Best Optic Combo - Why It’s Not An LPVO

I go over my long term (7-8 years) testing of which optic choice I think is best for a serious use rifle. This is my opinion, but I give examples and explanation as to why I have come to this conclusion. Im not saying LPVO’s do not have their place, but I do not believe they are durable enough for a gun that will be abused in a “duty” style role. Nor do I think affordable options are as “user f...

Interesting take, I think the ring reticles distract too much and it seems not very many active good trainers/comp shooters use the ring reticle as opposed to a simple dot .

That light assembly thing that's the plastic cone... That's what acts as the reflector. It's called a TIR optic and is quite common in lights where you need less apilland more of a Hotspot. This light definitely isn't as good as a real tlr-1, but for the price, I bet it's as good as anything else I thr price bracket. It looks to be using a Cree emitter too.. Which name brand.. And seems like it's direct drive off the batteries.. Should be simple two wire solder job to swap it out with a true 1000lm led too
Have to say, Condor products are slept on. Used several products and zero fails in combat zones, tactical training rages, CQB ops. Civilian utilization, recommend black. Civilians are NOT direct-action and will most likely be shot on sight. Think about it. Recommend Nam era keepers as they are metal.
Anyone know if there are models for the wolf nl1 by chance ?

@@thegump6215 Thanks! Holosun is my favorite red dot brand, but I wish they would make their circle reticle bigger than 30 moa. Their EPS and EPS carry are the best ccw optics in my opinion. Have a great Thanksgiving!

I was able to get them in the British DDPM which is the desert color of the disruptive patern since ww2. Holosun used to have a 8MOA ring reticle that I love to this day. You can still see what you're shooting at even at distance and upclose, it just works like a ghost ring sight and lets me get on target quickly.

Great video and I agree. I am a stickler for durability. Acog is my favorite optic although unfortunately, in the past couple of years, people have been reporting issues with internal prisms coming loose. I like the aimpoint Comp m4s. Thats what I run. For Lpvo’s I like the Atacr 1-8. Thats the only one I would trust. I wonder if the atacr is an exception to the lpvo rule and it eauals acog durability? Not sure i havent dropped mine yet thankfully. My atacr 4-16 has survived some drops though
@@willl4219 at some point I want to do this to an expensive LPVO. They could perform better if the material is thicker/stronger 👍 thanks for watching! Acogs are definitely battle proven

Looking into these, since I too am a poor. The DF models use 2x CE123 or an 18650 though, correct? Because I have a bunch of flat-top 18650s & no WML on an AR or my Mav88.
@@CarlPapa88 One reviewer said they got theirs to work with 18650’s by removing a O ring from inside the battery compartment. I haven’t tried it yet though. But in theory, the DF versions work with either battery type. Mine wouldnt screw down all the way with the 18650 I had. but I havent looked inside mine to see if there is an oring I can take out.
@@poortac5568For the price, worth a try then. The ones you're reviewing are the Wadsn brand?
@ The Wadsn brand ones have been the best in quality. The other “no name” ones seems slightly cheaper feeling. but that could just be the ones I got
Yeah. After looking into some other brands (Wurkkos, Sofirn, Armytek,Weltool, Acebeam...) ...if I can pop an O ring out to run the stack of batteries I have, the WADSN is good enough for me. And the eBay seller your link goes to has sold 23 of 'em with good reviews. 👍 Got the WADSN ModButton for $21 on there too.
Is it anywhere close to true 1x?
@@micham1714 nope, none of the budget LPVOs I have used feel/look like a true 1x. Mainly because one eye is seeing an image through various lenses, while the other sees things normally. It could be a training issue, but Im left eye dominant and right handed, so red dots are way better for me. My brain cant cope with seeing two slightly different images. Thats why I put my NVGs over my left eye
Best video I saw in long time
Great video! I'm a new subscriber. I just switched to a Holosun 510C with a 3x magnifier. I don't have any desire to shoot 556 more than a 100 yards. My gun is just set up for SHTF and not sniper work. I have a 308 bolt action and that is what I would use for anything longer than 100 yards. I have always used an LPVO and I don't see any advantage using that setup. With 62 grain, green tip, I am getting groups of a fist size at 100 yards. Plenty accurate for what I need.

I have to disagree with the forward assist. If weight is a problem, I wouldnt add and eotech with a massive magnifier. For the price of those you can get an lpvo thats lighter. Just my opinion.
@@SlickPlayss An LPVO with a tall mount, and piggy back red dot tends to weigh more. The point of this rifle isn’t to be light weight, but I do save weight where I can. An eotech is non negotiable for me. If I were going for light weight, Id go with a T2 or similar optic 👍

Many years ago, Mike was teaching an armorers class and went pretty deep into the A5 system and that really sold me on it, it does make a difference and makes tuning an AR15 much easier! As much as people say AR 15s are Legos, they are not, there is a LOT of wiggle room with tolerances and if you never shoot full auto or more than a few hundred rounds you'll never really notice, BUT, if you want a rifle that can be used HARD then what parts/material and proper building really matter.

Chinese LPVOs definitely are on the bendy side, but a good quality LPVO like a U.S. made one, you’re gonna get a chonky boy. Like a Razor HD-E 1-6x that thing is solid. Or an NF ATACR. 1 $1500 to $2500 though. USO has the TS-8X in their Chinese line and they are super durable too but the glass is not as good. Pretty decent just tighter eye box and they have a slightly brown tint.
@@definitelynotthea.t.f.8813 Im waiting to get my hands on a nice LPVO so I can test them 👍
So the only reason is durability
@@moderngunguy3666 durability is the first requirement, everything else is still important though. I prefer a red dot/holographic for inside 100 yards.

@@Chuckinglead Thats the bad thing about Chinese clones. There are a lot more lemons. At least it still works without the tape switch.
I have a Condor Battle Belt as my primary system. After a few years its been holding up perfectly fine. Courses, range days, plinking and tactical games its been solid. flawless.
@@DesertTactical Ive retired mine, but it has held up very well and is my backup 👍
Alright buddy if you buy quality LPVO they are tough and reliable quit buying the ones from Walmart. Also the better quality you buy it will be lighter and they weigh the same as red dot with magnification lol do better research man. Holosun magnification is garbage
@@ultraspank8479 I guess I will see, my buddy is buying a NF 1-8x that ill try out
1. If the red dot still displayed a red dot you are supposed to use both eyes for that to overlay a proper picture so it still works 2. If the red dot took all the damage and the lpvo is completely fine then it did it’s secondary function in keeping your main sighting system safe so this exactly why you should put a red dot on top and that instead of buying one expensive one you should buy 2 of the cheaper most durable ones and keep a back up in your kit
