Interesting development of energy creation through chemical reactions with hydrogen. I'd like to hear more about that. Usually the water atom is split & hydrogen is burned as fuel. No emission other than water is produced. Kudos to Chinese engineers for thinking outside the box & using hydrogen energy technology innovatively!

This achievement is plainly awesome. The BRI will benefit of an hybrid vehicle such as this, because some countries do not have a power grid that extends to remote regions such as like Saudi Arabia deserts of Pakistan or Afghanistan. The train can switch to its own clean electricity supply to travel the extended miles before swapping it's Hydrogen tank or continue on grid.. Moreover the feasibility of such project will help developing other transitional transportation means such at heavy trucks, airplanes and agricultural or industrial machineries. Perhaps the more important aspect of this pioneering implementation is that battery is not the only way to store the extra energy that intermittent sources such as wind and solar can provide during their peak. Japanese Mirai have proven that this EV mode works and works great, but what Japanese did not, or could not develop is the massive green hydrogen infrastructure needed to promote and sustain this advanced technology to the forefront. The Chinese however can, because they have invested heavily in the transitionto generation of clean hydrogen for a while now. Actually this mass urban transportation with H2 trains makes a lot of sense because the pollution is concentrated around large agglomerations and is where the fight against it must start. Additionally it relieves their grid to have H2 charging stations in strategic locations of their network were a field of solar panels or wind turbines is not desired nor acceptable. The very high speed of 360 km/h is not really required in urban area, so the range of 1000 km is more than acceptable before the train needs recharging. And like I said, it can always use the grid if the H2 fuel is getting too low. Anyways that is definitely a progress to watch.
