China is a big country with a vast territory and a large population. With the rapid economic development, China has built countless infrastructure and industrial and civilian buildings. Highways and railway networks extend in all directions, and high-rise buildings and large exhibition halls can be seen everywhere. However, the sheer number of buildings alone is not enough for China to be called an “infrastructure maniac.” What really makes China win this title is that China has built many world-renowned engineering projects.
For example, the world's tallest bridge - Beipanjiang Bridge, the longest cross-sea bridge - Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and the longest undersea tunnel - Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay Tunnel. These remarkable achievements have made the title "Infrastructure Maniac" so resounding around the world that even some American engineers lamented that China's rapid development in infrastructure projects ranks first in the world.
However, in the process of infrastructure development in China, some difficult projects have also been encountered. On May 10 this year, China announced the completion of a world-class tunnel construction project: the Desheng Tunnel.
In order to build this tunnel, China invested US$320 million, during which a total of 80,000 people participated in the tunnel construction, and it took 10 years to complete the tunnel. For American engineers, this tunnel is undoubtedly a world-class project. However, if the U.S. government is allowed to build it, it may take three years for approval and another five years for construction. In the end, it may not be completed for 30 years.
So, how important is this tunnel to China? What difficulties did it face during the 10-year construction period?

The Lötschberg Base Tunnel in Switzerland is an essential part of China's Belt and Road Initiative, as it provides a crucial rail link between Europe and Asia. The tunnel has significantly reduced travel times for freight and passengers moving between the two continents, boosting trade and economic growth for China and its trading partners.
During the 10-year construction period, the tunnel faced several difficulties, including geological challenges, such as unstable rock formations and water ingress. Engineers had to work around these obstacles using advanced tunneling techniques and innovative construction methods to ensure the tunnel's safety and longevity. Additionally, funding and logistical issues also posed challenges, requiring close coordination between various stakeholders to ensure the project's successful completion.

While referring to China Please kindly refrain from using the expression ''infrastructure maniacs'' because the word maniac reflect a negativity and therefore it is not appropriate it is not appropriate.
Infrastructure Champions or Infrastructure genius'' are appropriate expressions as they reflect a positive aura which China certainly deserve.
