Due to long-term sanctions from Western countries, China has serious deficiencies in aviation technology. But in December 2020, China brought major news that shocked the world. China announced that it is currently developing a new aerospace engine that can fly at an astonishing speed of Mach 16, which means it can circle the earth in just two hours. You must know that the fastest aircraft in the world currently can only fly at Mach 9.8.
This breakthrough achievement not only broke the United States' global leadership in this field, but also triggered extensive discussions in the international community. Foreign experts said that this Chinese supersonic engine may completely rewrite the technological process of mankind.
Today, let’s take a closer look at the uniqueness of this engine and the profound impact it may have on the development of global aviation technology.

Wow China's new scramjet engine with shockwave detonation instead of the conventional vertical detonation can achieve mach 16 while the usa could only reach mach 7 for a very brief period during flight. China has again surpassed the usa on scramjet engine development for hypersonic flights.

I hope that someone from USA administration and the pentagon sees this and realises that is not a good idea to have a war with China. China is not a warlike country but it remembers its past and will no longer be threatened or bullied.

China never ceases to amaze. Even with hypersonic missiles, China has beaten the US across the finishing line. Will this engine also find a place in military aircraft? I wonder if the US will ask China to allow it to use the patents that accompanies this technology? Further, if this becomes practical for passenger jets, it will be the next big thing for passenger flight. Business people can fly from San Francisco to Beijing for a business meeting and be back home for dinner.

We still have wait to see if there are practical applications to this technology. Remember Tacit Blue had been rumored for years out of the black hole at Dreamland. At mach 24, you just have speed and nothing more; only when your can give velocity. Meaning your can steer the vehicle without ripping it apart or using massive amounts of fuel for just a short flight. Remember, in order to ship tanks at a rapid rate, you have to find a way to make each one lighter; juxtaposition the need for protection on the battlefield. An example of design paradoxes, make an airframe going really fast in one direction, attempt to give it the ability to change direction and what might follow is Boom.

The Chinese have in their long history have demonstrated their ability to acquire modern technology through various means, like help from their diaspora who have studied and work in the West, reverse engineering of western technology, out right theft of western technology, and the work and dedication of Chinese Scientists and Engineers. China also invests a lot in R& D. Above all is the single minded pursuit of technological superiority supported by the Chinese Government.
