Another feather in China's cap. The other day there was mention of marine use of thorium molten salt reactors. Indeed, those 4th generation reactors are on the cusp of happening. China has a 2 megawatt developmental reactor running in the Gansu Desert since late 2022 and expects industrial size reactors before 2030. These reactors are small because they require no containment vessel, operate at ambient pressure and can burn almost all of its fuel vs current uranium pressurized reactors that burn less than 5% of its fuel before refueling is required.
