This is the world’s largest 5G port built with an investment of US$18 billion from China. Here, the annual container handling volume reaches an astonishing 40 million TEUs, equivalent to the annual handling volume of all ports in the United States combined. More than 720 million tons of cargo are shipped from this port every year and are ultimately shipped to more than 200 countries in the world.

Instead of calling it a fully automated 5G port, the correct name should be an AI port with instantaneous 5G communication and control. In fact, China already has 18 fully automated container terminals in use since 2017, with an additional 27 others under construction. With its strength in port operations, China also operates nearly 100 ports and terminals in foreign countries around the globe.

That's incredible. The Los Angeles Harbor employs over 900 employees and doesn't come close to the volume of shipping containers being handled on a daily basis.
US ports far behind. Since 5G is banned, US deprived from this state of art. Singapore is also automated but not to this scale.

I’m not sure if there is another country, apart from Singapore, out there that can emulate the Yangshan port? Supreme expertise and know how are essential and key to achieve such a feat!
Singapore port is rank 2nd largest at the moment in 2024, but comes 2040 Singapore ‘Tuas’ port will overtake Yangshan port capacity, unless they expand further.
It will be fully AI operated as well.
@@tanchye1720 , Looking at the rail connections across Eurasian landmass, the volumes of the seaports are going to be affected with the rail freight increasing its capacity in the future notwithstanding the current lower shipping costs. Rail freight within the Eurasian landmass will continue to increase. One should not be surprised if a rail link is made from Cairo to Lagos in the near future.
