I don’t want to give wrong or false information but I will say even major label artists release music without clearing the sample beforehand. Also depends on is the release commercial or promotional? Personally I’m going to sell the beat and let the artist deal with clearance if they want to have it be released without issue. Either way as a producer you get paid

I use an iPad Air 4 and it more then gets the job done for koala. However I also edit video on it and it’s starting to show its age a bit so I’m in the market for the new Air 6. Have always wanted to try iPad mini with Koaka which feels like a perfect size. Would say get an Air 4 refurbished off eBay, they have great buyer protection so if something goes wrong the seller has to do a LOT to make things right.

Thank you so much brother glad I could inspire, I don’t think I have any particular DEEP dives for chopping, but I do cover my technique in almost all my videos even if it’s briefly, some longer and more in depth then others. Generally I’ll chop on the kick of the sample and the snare of the sample because boom bap is so heavily dependent on both those elements. Or if I’m chopping Jazz I’ll listen for the bass note so I’ll add my chops wherever it hits. That way my beat already has a baseline as I rearrange the chops to my liking. There’s not one catch all technique but after a while you do start getting almost “Sample vision” when you start listening to music, you’ll hear the sample chop as you improve before you even actually chop it

Zoom R4 parce! I like it’s built in mic, 4 track mixer, built in effects and compressor, etc I used to use a focusrite interface but I like the recorder I’m now using because I don’t need a phone or laptop what so ever, and it runs on batteries. It’s great for my videos because I have my camera, I have my sampler, and the audio for my vocals (and my sampler) are recorded into the Zoom R4. When I’m done I pull out the SD card and can start working with the files on my iPad

Check out my video on how I sample off Spotify, same techniques also work for sampling from TH-cam. An easy answer is search on TH-cam “Soul 45 mix” and go down the rabbit hole. I also sample off vinyl and for that a big thing is just the cover speaking to me

All I can say is find your people. Find artists you genuinely find interesting, not so big that you can’t actually reach them via dm, and reach out and attempt to connect in a real way. Build relationships with these people, send music back and forth and long term you’re setting yourself up. Going from beat to beat sale is a LONG grind better off actually building something with people and as you all grow, the attention brings $$ opportunities. Work an easy, creative job to fund your art so you don’t have to rely on sales for income. Use something like docusign to make the paper work easy and legal, and that way you don’t have an artist wanting 50 revisions of a beat, you can put it in writing like you get 3 revisions max. And don’t be afraid to shoot your shot, someone gives you interest in something you made don’t be afraid to start stupid high, you can always lower the price and you never know they may just say yes especially if it’s attached in any way shape or form to film, television, someone who has a label deal in place with an actual budget, etc

@lordrassoull6216 yeah you can export the song itself and send it as a wav, or you can also export it as an Ableton set which will give them your drums, bass, sample, and anything else you used to mess around with in Ableton. Or you can manually mute everything except bass, everything except sample, everything except drums and export it and make your own stems. You send that to the artist and their engineer can put it back together so they can mix your beat with their vocals. There’s several ways to go about it
