So since finding your channel I’ve really had an easier time utilizing samples by mimicking your workflow and I’ve really gained a better understanding of how to chop samples through watching your vids, do you have any deep dive videos on your chopping techniques and how you find a rhythm in your chops?
Thank you so much brother glad I could inspire, I don’t think I have any particular DEEP dives for chopping, but I do cover my technique in almost all my videos even if it’s briefly, some longer and more in depth then others. Generally I’ll chop on the kick of the sample and the snare of the sample because boom bap is so heavily dependent on both those elements. Or if I’m chopping Jazz I’ll listen for the bass note so I’ll add my chops wherever it hits. That way my beat already has a baseline as I rearrange the chops to my liking. There’s not one catch all technique but after a while you do start getting almost “Sample vision” when you start listening to music, you’ll hear the sample chop as you improve before you even actually chop it

Hi Bird Boss, which iPad model would you recommend for using Koala?
I use an iPad Air 4 and it more then gets the job done for koala. However I also edit video on it and it’s starting to show its age a bit so I’m in the market for the new Air 6. Have always wanted to try iPad mini with Koaka which feels like a perfect size.
Would say get an Air 4 refurbished off eBay, they have great buyer protection so if something goes wrong the seller has to do a LOT to make things right.
Yo bro, question; after finding all the samples I want in a beat, do I have to get the samples cleared before I sell the beat? Or does the artist take care of that?
I don’t want to give wrong or false information but I will say even major label artists release music without clearing the sample beforehand. Also depends on is the release commercial or promotional?
Personally I’m going to sell the beat and let the artist deal with clearance if they want to have it be released without issue. Either way as a producer you get paid
