    Queenslink needs to b done, well it’s already done halfway because structure and right of way is already there, they jus need to pay to clean up the right of way and get new tracks. Run that line to Rockaway Park as it’s branch, leave the A as Far Rockaway’s main stay and they should consider making the C the Ozone Park branch.

    The RBB should b rebuilt with 4 tracks all the way to Rego Park. QBL local trains run express and Superexpress trains run local. Parkside, Aqueduct Racetrack, and Broad Channel become express stops, Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn Manor, Atlantic Ave, Ozone Park, and Howard Beach remain local. Hamilton Beach gets rebuilt so the residents can save their gas money and reduce their long walking trips to the current nearest station.

    Queenslink would be the perfect time to renovate the Rockaway and Fulton St El Lines for de-interlining and putting unused trackways to use. -The Fulton St El can be renovated from a 3-track line into a 4-track line until Rockaway Blvd. All stations remain local except for Rockaway Blvd which will be express. As for Grant Ave, the express tracks can run under the platform level, just like at Fort Hamilton Pkwy on the Culver Line. -The Lefferts branch can continue as the local tracks and remain a 3-track line since the center track would become usable as a peak-direction express track during rush hours (even though the odds would be very slim). While most riders from Lefferts want an express service and most riders would transfer to express trains if local trains ran there instead, the whole point of this is to de-interline, eliminate service designations with more than one branch and transferring at Rockaway Blvd would be easy since there would be cross-platform transfers. -The express tracks can curve down onto the Rockaway Line and continue as its express tracks which have been left inactive for years. Queenslink can split up from the Queens Blvd Line’s local tracks at Rego Pk as provisioned and Woodhaven Blvd can be converted to an express station as provisioned for convenient transfers. -Queenslink would be running on a 2-track line which is the case until slightly before the Fulton St El runs perpendicular and from there, it becomes a 4-track line which is the perfect layout change at the perfect location. Because when it reaches where it runs perpendicular under the Fulton St El, there can be a station called Liberty Ave with a free transfer to Rockaway Blvd, therefore making the station a station complex. It can then continue as the Rockaway Line’s local tracks. -Aqueduct Racetrack can add a new southbound platform so that it doesn’t have to be a one-way station. -Howard Beach-JFK Airport can be demolished and rebuilt as an express station due to its connection to JFK Airport. -Further south, make room for a 4-track line by widening the bridges and demolish Broad Channel and replace it by a local station due to exceptionally low ridership. -Widen the remaining bridges in the same way after that and add an elevated express infill station called Hammels just before the line splits up. It can have the same layout as Crown Hts-Utica Ave, that being stacked island platforms with the express tracks on one side and the local tracks on the other, except this one is elevated instead of underground. -Finally, the express tracks can continue as the Far Rockaway Branch and the local tracks can continue as the Rockaway Park Branch.

    • @harrykatsos
      @harrykatsos 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Idk I think the M train should occupy the middle tracks of the Rockaway Beach Branch while the A stays on the outer local tracks. Aqueduct N Conduit Ave or Racetrack Station should be demolished and rebuilt into an express station cuz they look more dead and they need to be revived. Howard Beach Station is too alive and modern looking to be demolished, and I feel like it works more as a local station. Hamilton Beach is a station that should be resurrected. There r ppl who live there that could use the subway station. It may add wait times for ppl in the Rockaways but if the RBB had an express service, the Hamilton Beach station addition would not be an issue. I agree with adding room for 4 tracks south before and after Broad Channel. I think to make this a better service, the line after Aqueduct N Conduit Ave needs to be risen up onto a concrete elevated viaduct looking like the other LIRR viaducts or the Smith 9th Viaduct or the Rockaways' subway viaducts. Also the line needs higher bridges over Jamaica Bay's waters, bridges that don't reduce the subways' speeds, bridges that don't need to detach and turn to let boats thru but instead let boats pass under them.

    Great work! I grew up in West Hempstead in the 1940s-1950s, and remember these lines well. Was on a steam powered rail excursion in the mid '50s which came up from Valley Stream, through West Hempstead, up through the Crossing to Mineola and on to Oyster Bay. There was a wye around Nassau Tower, so northbound trains from the Hempstead line could go east or west on the Main Line. Also from the line between the Crossing and Mineola, there was a spur that went west along the golf course to an old part of Garden City. This was where coal was delivered for a heating plant which heated 12 old mansions in the area called the "Twelve Apostles." Was once in the family car with my parents headed north on Franklin Avenue and had to stop for a steam engine that crossed Franklin Avenue to deliver the coal. The old West Hempstead station was originally on a concrete pad between Hempstead Turnpike and Hempstead Avenue., but was moved to it's current location on the south side of Hempstead Avenue. It was a grand building in the classic LIRR style, but unfortunately torn down and replaced by the present cinderblock shack. A station master who sold tickets lived on the second floor. The area west of the West Hempstead station tracks had freight "team" tracks. A freight train with a switcher locomotive and caboose would come down from Mineola to West Hempstead three times a week to set off and pick up cars. The freight train originated at Holban Yard (betwen Hollis and St. Albans). The Hollis station on the Main Line in Queens no longer exists. One of the team tracks at West Hempstead was electrified for MU storage. To the west of the yard was the Railway Express Agency office and Hempstead Seed Company, which had a separate freight loading spur. Pre-World War 2, there was a lot of agriculture in Nassau County, hence the seed company. In the 1950's, would ride my bike up to Mineola to railfan. Electrification on the Main Line at Mineola terminated at the Oyster Bay junction. This meant that trains for Hicksville, Port Jefferson, and points east on the Main Line had to be steam or diesel powered. So I got to see some steam, including #35. One of the morning commuter trains from Oyster Bay had a private lounge car for the wealthy commuter set who could enjoy their morning coffee and cigar with their friends. Presumably the lounge car in the evening had an active bar!

    The NSB could be reactivated and St. George can be converted to a through-station by replacing all the excessive number of platforms with a single wide island platform being laid sideways. Then, HBLR’s Blue line can be extended from 8th St to Tower Hill to provide a convenient transit link.

    The Nostrand Avenue Line extension and the Utica Avenue Line should be built at the same time. For the Nostrand extension it would be a four station extension with stations at Avenue K, Kings Highway, Avenue S, and Voorhies Avenue, with all stations being built 100 to 140 feet deep underground. The area could also be served by a cable car system running from Flatbush Avenue station to Emmons Avenue with six stops, but a cable car system would become overloaded really fast and cable cars have low capacity despite being able to move people more frequently than subways. I originally suggested a three station underground extension of the line to Kings Plaza, however I concluded that extending the line would put Flatbush Avenue station way over capacity and overload the B44 bus, as the Nostrand corridor has higher bus ridership than the Flatbush corridor (serves by B41).

    7 train extension, I agree with, but not as the 7 train. It is EXTREMELY overcrowded and adding more trains will reduce capacity. I think they should cut and cover Roosevelt Ave and build a track highway underneath. I also believe that they should take the N&W and extend them all the way to Flushing Main Street, with a stop at Laguardia Airport, finally giving the airport the subway connection it so desperately needs. I also propose converting Main Street in Flushing into a massive connection hub, In this way, you will then permit the N or the W to run into College Point after Main Street. Going further, I believe that the Q train should become a large loop, turning East at 125st and 2nd Ave, going underneath the East River to link up with the N&W at Ditmars Blvd before going to Main Street. In this way, we relieve the capacity problems on the 7 train and increase access and flexbility in northern queens. I also believe that the C train should be extended all the way to Jamaica, eliminating the stub section on the A train. Train service to the Rockaways should simply become shuttle trains rather than full regular service due to cost. The R train should be extended to Staten Island, as the tunnels and space have already been left for it decades ago. The L train should go to Hudson Yards/Penn Station on the west side, increasing connectivity. Many bus routes in Manhattan that have dedicated bus lanes should instead be converted into protected tram lines due to capacity.

      I prefer the LIRR Port Washington conversion to regional rail, which parallels and reliefs the 7.

    Greetings Urban Man. There was talk many years ago of extending the 7 train to New Jersey, and it never happen. If there is an intrest in it again, for the 7 train, MTA should extend the L train to New Jersey. Would like to the North Shore of the Stane Island Rapid transit be activated, for the North Shore, and send it to the Staten Island Mall and parts of New Jersey. Including Six Flags amusement park in New Jersey. Great video by the way.

    It's a nice parkway now and a vast improvement over what was there before. I'm old enough to actually see the old West Side Express Highway after it was shut down during a junior high (middle) school class field trip to visit the United Nations.
