Jigging Rap Walleye

The Rapala Jigging Rap is possibly one of the best fall walleye lures of all time. The two most popular sizes for open water walleye fishing are the W9 & W7 Jigging Rap. Trolling Death Jigs For Walleye Have you seen or used a Death jig for walleye? The Walleye Nation Creations Death Jig fits right into the slow death technique. Bottom Bouncing PK Wobblers For Walleye PK Lures Wobbler is a triangular float that is flat on one side & rounded on the other. Jigging Swimbaits For Lake Trout

Jigging Swim Baits For Lake Trout When the waves & currents push against under water structure lake trout can be found congregating on steep breaks. Im in Detroit river Erie and st.clair and would love to try this technique
Definitely give it a go. I’ve tried it on multiple bodies of water. Reservoirs, northern lakes, clear water to murky. It catches walleye.
Were are u located again?
Saskatchewan
You ever bottom bounce a senko wacky style?
Nope, I never have but I’ll guarantee ya that a senko worm will work .
So are you watching the line? Or do you feel the bite?
Feel the bite, let them take it & smok’em.
So when would you fish with this system over a slip bobber setup?
Deeper water is easier, also different presentation. Stays stationary.
I have some glow in the dark beads. I wonder how that might help the fish hone in on the rig.
They’ll work good, just like on a Lindy rig.
@@surgeoutdoorsangling So why a drop shot instead of a dropper loop? Seems to me that the dropper loop would get the bait out away from the main line.
It’s just what I tied. That’s all.
@@surgeoutdoorsangling You said "down south". Are you talking southern Canada? lol
Southern Saskatchewan
VERY GOOD video! You even figured in transducer to surface offset!! 👍👍 (lol,, we don't re-set the counter till we're 2' down! ;>) Now, when, after that spool is filled to proper capacity, get a permanent sharpy, & MARK the insides of your spool. Then, you'll have a quicker, easier way to replace those worn lines!? LOL,,, As long as you use the same OD lines? RIGHT? Just for the fun of it, next time, fill your spool with FAT OD 80# mono, & calibrate your counter. Note how full your spool is. Then, take it back off, (or use another reel) & fill that same spool with 10# super thin BRAID. Run them both out to 300' & show everyone the difference in counter read-out depth it would make!! OBTW,,,, FYI everyone,,, always run your baits 3'- 5' ABOVE those fish marks,,,, feeding fish don't look down,,, specially when they are flat on the bottom. ;<)
What lake in Sask??
A bigger lake up North, gravel roads.
I love catching pike when walleye fishing. You get used to just light bites and fish that do not fight that much and then a pike hits it and wham.
Nice Video. I will say that by hooking your worm to the treble, you are restricting the rotation of the worm on the slow death hook. It would be better to hook the worm through the very tip of the worm on the slow death hook and run it up to just below the swivel.
Good video. I make and sell fin clips. I knew lotta tournaments. I never use G juice I use Gatorade, I find it better.
Always good info. Thanks. Good to see ya...tight lines

Sup Travis excited for camping this summer
Yes sir 👍
I have done this since sassy shads have been out lol...old school trick but great video ..
It’s a deadly technique for sure 👍
Hi Travis this is sawyer
What’s happening?
@@surgeoutdoorsangling not much excited for camping
WOW, thanks for this info!! How much line between the lure and bouncer? AND how far back are you trolling the lure? Thanks a heap. I figure the saugeye will clobber this rig too. :)
Bouncing Swim Baits I tie 32” leaders, a little shorter than if I’m pulling spinners. Same as bottom bouncing any other Spinner rig, bouncer touches bottom & let out 3 more feet. That’s about it. They will crush it. It’s a deadly technique!
How deep where you , and kets say if you where in 8 ft of water whay weigh of a hook would you sue or in 15 ft please fill me in im tired of using crankbaits
25 ft on / around a mid lake hump. I would literally use the exact same rig in 10ft - 40ft with exception being a different weighted bottom bouncer. 8-10 ft likely 1.5 oz, 10-15ft 2oz ect. With the paddle tail I’d probably stay a bit heavier on the bouncer than I would if I was running spinner rigs. Check out the video description for other details. This technique will catch fish.
So if you get hung up and have to cut and retie, you're not going to be accurate anymore. Well, that sucks.
By having the leader at the end of the line you will always be accurate. If it gets chewed up all you do is replace you leader length. Whether you go with 5-8 ft leader. Easy. Correct if you break off 50 ft of main line depending on crankbait you can be out a lot.
Love this, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks for tuning in, hope you have success using the technique. Tight lines
@@surgeoutdoorsangling Just made some purchases and am looking forward to giving it a go!
They’ll crush it!
I like the Elwood specials from Elwood nebraska made in USA i lots of great colors
Can I ask what particular jack plate that the the Vantage is attached too?
It’s mounted on a Panther Marine Static Motor Mount Plate Model 405 .
Thanks, I have a vantage on my small 17' Aumacraft Lunker that I use for walleyes in WI, with a Suzki tiller, and the boat is just a bit too narrow to support both. This looks like a very good solution to the tight quarters. Thanks P
Glad I could help. It’s a good small motor mount plate. Has a clean look & well molded. Tight lines 🎣

Just found your channel congrats just watching you now great video and rainbow. The flood water gets bad on those lakes
Thanks! I feel like an idiot now.
Just simple things we don’t look at until we need to, then we can’t remember how the heck they work. Lol
A better way to weigh big fish is in a water bag so you dont hang the fish by the head.
Man trust me I know. Let’s lay it down, ya pick out a random lake off a map… throw your stuff in a truck… punch some holes and mess around / film… know one in their right mind would of thought or been prepared for two monsters like that, I don’t care who you are. I sure as hell wasn’t, throw in excited as hell to even do that then add caught on film for a life time… we’re not talking about a picture here. Pictures are easy. Try film, cold, dead battery’s, camera gear, angles to show & not show, fog or water on the lens, connection issues, man… If people only knew the 1/2 of it. A picture… I always say if it ain’t on film it don’t count. I’ve lost lots of fish that would have made a picture. Try timing and getting that moment on film. If someone wants to try & replicate two hogs like that on the same day outta the same hole then have at it & best of luck. It’s very hard if not impossible to replicate someone’s angling experience. I don’t even weigh fish unless there’s a holy shit reaction for curiosity. Only reason there’s scale with ice fishing is because one time I didn’t have one and wish I did. Those fish live forever on film. Cheers
Clayton is just hating cause he's jealous
“haters goona hate & ain’ters goona ain’t” Am I right? lol
Bad idea to go stand on that crack where overflow is coming out that ice will be garbage in a day.
Looks really good. I do know that walleye love a crankbait. I used to catch them on shore in the evening throwing cranks. I have heard that bottom bouncing a jerk bait can be dynamite and you demonstrated that. Gotta do it.
It’s a great technique. One to definitely throw at them especially when we get past that mid summer point & swinging towards fall. Another one that’s great is “ bottom bouncing Swimbaits”. If you haven’t seen that technique I made this past fall then definitely check that one out. Basically showing walleye a more realistic bait vs a crank.. it’s also dynamite. Thanks for tuning in.

@@markpowell62403mm rattle chamber
Would a person be able to use a jerkbaits ?
Yes, I’ve used Rapala husky jerks before.
Nice fish & seems you mean well but it's a studied fact that fish to be released should be kept out of water a VERY short time , like hold for quick photo & back in water ( 20-30 seconds ). This beautiful specimen odds of surviving the prolonged time of getting tape, scale, weighing, pics etc is slim to none , & thats a shame. Not to mention it should never be left on ice like that , so hard on their organs flopping around on super hard ground when they are designed to be buoyant with little pressure. Pls in future think about better handling, as catch & release is only sporting if they survive!
Don’t worry, everything in that lake is dying this year. Gov is winter killing it. So how’s that future looking? They are Saskatchewan secluded trout lakes, meaning they get restocked every year. Essentially renewable meat fish.
Sweet video! I’m new to cranking for walleye and this might be a dumb question, but do you use your outboard to go 2-2.2 mph or do you just troll quickly with your trolling motor?
On my boat I use the bow mount trolling motor in conjunction with the MinnKota vantage transom mount. I have two separate battery systems @ 24v. My outboard trolls @ 2.5 mph so I don’t really use it, I’d rather have the ability to adjust speed. 1.8-2.5 mph. Depending on the duration of the fishing & waves pushing, a bow mount can do the job on its own. Something to consider is battery capacity. Type 27 vs 31 & a high reserve capacity rating or going to lithium battery’s to help achieve the goal. I felt like having the MinnKota vantage was an asset for numerous situations so I choose it over a kicker outboard motor. Basically just an incase I need it motor.
Hey Travis how’s it going
Good & you?
Pretty good
It's too bad that lake winter kills so often. I think P.A wildlife was talking about aerating it at one point.
Interesting, that would be a good idea. It’s a nice little lake. I was quite surprised with it. Had quite a bit of action there, however some I never got on camera.
Dude stop fingering their gills.. they don’t enjoy it and they 100% didn’t survive. Also idk if you know this but they can’t breathe out of water.
Fingers are not in the gills, one inch of my fore finger is holding the jaw skin & not touching any gill plate. Want to know how I know that? I was there. No one can say any fish lives or dies after release because they aren’t tracked via gps. Mother Nature is stronger than you think.
How did you get that net to fit that swimming pool pole?
Lucky Strike 48-72 Telescopic, the one I have is pretty old like 2014 model. It’s the best net I’ve ever owned …B46T6 BASKET NET 48-72″ TELESCOPIC FIBREGLASS HANDLE
@@surgeoutdoorsangling Oh, okay. I see, they are already made that way. I thought you bought a net and connect it to a pool pole because that pole folds up just like a pool pole! I'm looking for a net that has at least a 10' handle on it so that I can scoop up the fish on a high wall where I fish at that is located just downstream from a dam.
Ah, that makes sense.
Nice fish bud, though I think they were over manhandled to be released, but maybe they weren't as shocked/stunned as they appeared in your video. Other than that I really enjoyed the adventure.
Thanks. Trust me, if I go back there I’ll be better prepared for the monsters.
Nice job! I almost never catch them vertically. Like once, lol. I always catch them casting them out etc.
Thanks It’s an interesting thing because when you water footage y see a lot from the Great Lakes or Minnesota / Wisconsin where it’s a pitch/cast game. But out here in western Canada, Saskatchewan & Alberta it a vertical bite. Casting can work but vertical crushes fish. Different fish & different bites.
