- Fall Perch Fishing can be a lot of fun with good eats afterward.
The trick is to find Perch big enough for a nice fillet which sometimes means moving & weeding through the numbers. I brought two techniques Drop Shot & Slip Bobbing. I started with the Drop Shot Rig then stayed the course. I saw results immediately with small perch & knew I just had to bounce around to find the bigger ones.
Later In the day I put It all together refining the technique, bait colour and location. Everything started to click & I was hammering good sized perch.
I was using 10lb braid, a swivel, 8lb Flourocarbon Leader, #6 gamakatsu octopus hook baited with a 1 1/6 plastic grub & a 3/8 oz weight.
The Grubs I make & use are 1 1/16 inch in length, can be solid or split colour, sparkles or not. They work great for this technique & under a slip bobber on a tungsten jig. They are also dynamite for ice fishing where they are the perfect size for 5mm tungsten jigs.🎣

As soon as there’s 3-4 inches of ice… we gone & you know where I’m going lol
We hit up the strap last weekend. Did runs in front of Thode, there’s a bunch of points that come out. We were going from 22-17 feet and couldn’t keep them off the hook. Also got a couple nice eater eyes.
