  • The Rapala Jigging Rap is possibly one of the best fall walleye lures of all time. The two most popular sizes for open water walleye fishing are the W9 & W7 Jigging Rap.
Today we went fall walleye fishing to see if we could hunt down walleye on a new lake.
We found fish running a steep break adjacent to the main lake basin in 25-30ft. Then by loading up with the Rapala Jigging Rap W7 it didn’t take long to confirm it was the lure of choice.
This lake had stained water paired with a cloudy day so we choose bright colours. This turned out to be key as we slung endless colours & sizes at them.
It was a good day on the water catching walleye.
If you are interested in walleye care & want to learn / practice Fizzing Walleye. I use BD Percision Glide Sterilized Needles, 20 G x 1 1/2. Remember if you are learning & practicing please Fizz retention fish to make sure you are having success.
Walleye will be belly up because the swim blatter is inflated due to pressure differences. You will notice this within minutes of retaining a walleye in your livewell. Fizz walleye & relieve pressure. Then the walleye will live.

Jigging Raps changed the scene of walleye fishing, now every lure manufacturer wants a piece of that market.
Rip Jigging is a great technique & absolutely crushes walleye if that’s what they’re into that day.
Just gotta get on top of fish & away ya go.

Northern Saskatchewan, I don’t want to say which lake unfortunately because some people get crusty about revealing names. It’s a bigger body of water but heavily pressured.
Lots of Great Lakes in Northern Saskatchewan that everyone has driving access to. Just sometimes they are at the end of a gravel road lol

Nice job! I almost never catch them vertically. Like once, lol. I always catch them casting them out etc.

      Thanks
It’s an interesting thing because when you water footage y see a lot from the Great Lakes or Minnesota / Wisconsin where it’s a pitch/cast game. But out here in western Canada, Saskatchewan & Alberta it a vertical bite. Casting can work but vertical crushes fish.
      Different fish & different bites.

@@surgeoutdoorsangling dude that is very cool! So stoked you’re tuning into the channel. I subscribed to yours awhile ago!! And I also went out and tried bottom bouncing floating rapala crankbaits. That was fun man. Loads of multi species fishing and caught my PB Trophy freshwater drum.
      Have a great day

I’ve never been. I’m basically central Sask to North West then into North East Alta. Tons of lakes.
