    Much like the other models in the Minn Kota line up, the Minn Kota Vantage is a valuable tool for boat control.
    It’s a highly popular accessory on walleye boats in Western Canada 🇨🇦. With our wide range of water bodies from southern reservoirs, river systems & boreal forrest lakes it helps us fish effectively with great boat control.
    It comes in two models
    24v power source, 80 lb thrust - two 12v batteries
    36v power source, 101 lb thrust - three 12v batteries
    Can be linked to your existing bow mount battery’s by splitting the usage or depending on layout add what you need for your configuration.
    Main Attributes
    stow & deploy, 4-1 steering ratio, extendable handle, variable speed control, multi directional, breakaway mounting system protects from accidental take off & other hazards.
    The main techniques it is used for are:
    Back Trolling - Lindy Rigs / Jigs / Bouncing Blades
    Working Up & Down Contour Ledges - Lindy Rigs / Jigs
    Assisting Bow Mount Pushing- Jigging / Rip Jigging / Slip Bobbing
    Speed Adjustments - Bouncing Blades / Crankbaits
    Side Drifting Rear Speed Control - Lindy
    Rigs / Jigs
    Boat Control In Tight Areas - Rear Control

    Can I ask what particular jack plate that the the Vantage is attached too?

      It’s mounted on a Panther Marine Static Motor Mount Plate Model 405 .

      Thanks, I have a vantage on my small 17' Aumacraft Lunker that I use for walleyes in WI, with a Suzki tiller, and the boat is just a bit too narrow to support both. This looks like a very good solution to the tight quarters. Thanks P

      Glad I could help. It’s a good small motor mount plate. Has a clean look & well molded.

    Awesome info....I took my 9.9 kicker off because you was making by boat lean ....had it mounted on the Panther bracket you are using....didn't know if the Vantage would have enough shift length... now I do.Thanks from cowtown

      The Vantage has helped me tremendously with boat control walleye fishing. Just have to set things up for your rig & how you plan on using it.

    Do you tilt the vantage up when running from spot to spot

    • @surgeoutdoorsangling
      @surgeoutdoorsangling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don’t have to tilt it at all, That tilt is just incase you take off with it fully lowered or hit something so it has give to swing up.
      Just have to suck it back up all the way into the motor leg before running to another spot.
      If you follow the channel on Instagram I’ll make a post & story the next few days running spot to spot with a visual. 👍

    How about showing us how fast It can move your boat….

    • @surgeoutdoorsangling
      @surgeoutdoorsangling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coulda done that I guess but there’s lots of things that will affect that number from boat to boat & what ever the wind / wave conditions are.
      Fiberglass boats are heavier than aluminum, 17 vs 18 vs 20 ft boats, 24 v - vs 36 v MinnKota vantage thrust differences.
      Just wanted to show the different ways it can be used & how to use it. It’s one heck of a tool to use for boat control especially if your fishing in rough weather conditions.
      Mine is a 24v on a separate battery system than the bow mount so it adds a lot more power and capabilities. In a smaller let’s say 17 ft boat you probably go with a 36 v system bow mount and a vantage off the same battery set up for space purposes.
      Each boat has its own layout & has to be planned for its own purposes. Some boats don’t have room for a 36 v system, other do.

    Great video. I noticed that u didnt have trim tabs. I wonder if u can still fit a vantage with tabs?

    • @surgeoutdoorsangling
      @surgeoutdoorsangling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have trim tabs nope. I don’t think you’d have the room to fit a vantage with traditional trim tabs. But if you had Zip Wake Trim tabs you could. There a fairly new Auto trim tab system.
      Not very many boats in Alberta & Saskatchewan Canada have trim tabs. But a fair amount of tournament boats run a vantage. Either to back troll, help push, follow contours slower ect. Some guys on a 36 v system shared with bow mount, others 24v with one or two sets of batteries depending on boat layout. I have two sets of batteries one for bow mount, other for vantage just cuz of layout.
      But for side drifting Lindy rigs man… what a dream in the wind… throw away the drift socks..
      Helps with a lot of techniques & boat control. We don’t have a very big crankbait trolling community because of only allowed one line by regulations so there isn’t a crazy amount of boats with kicker motors unless guys are trolling for lake trout. That’s where a vantage gives a guy a few more options to use it in scenarios.

    I can't wait till they make a remote for it

    • @surgeoutdoorsangling
      @surgeoutdoorsangling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be pretty slick if they did actually, with a remote head unit like the bow mounts but could also throw it in manual mode with the handle.
      I’ve side drifted some pretty rank days lindy rigging with two people, one on bow & other on the back… man is it slick. First thing I did was get rid of the drift socks. The vantage just makes a boat that much more versatile.

      @@surgeoutdoorsangling I want to use it as a break for crappie fishing with livescope

    • @surgeoutdoorsangling
      @surgeoutdoorsangling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kirkmartin2223 oh ya I got you, you can stop the boat asap, slow it down or spin on a dime with back boat control.
      I use it as a break if I’m pulling spinner blades for walleye. If your in a big wind, steer with the bow mount with low speed then control your speed of the drift with the vantage. So if the wind is pushing you 1.8-2 mph you can put the vantage in reverse and control speed to 1.2-1.5 mph. It works good. I had to do that in the Spinner Rig Walleye video. I also use it in the same manner when I pull crankbaits.

      @@surgeoutdoorsangling down here in Texas. Come on down and bring some of yalls whitetails with you 😉
      In the past 2 years crappie have figured out livescope OR fishermen are just seeing fish they have never seen before on different types of structure. 3 years ago to could bump into standing timber with your boat and still catch fish. Now they will spook when you are 20ft away if you are not very very careful and quiet. Having a quiet reverse/break means you can run on level 10 between trees then hit the stop button when you are 30ft away instead of poking along on level 2 hoping you don't coast into and spook fish. Kinda like being a mailman that can go 45mph between mailboxes and stop on a dime......you can really haul the mail like that.
