I’d like to think of myself as a walleye angler but.... something is happening. There has been a shift in the tide to target Trout in the winter months lately.
Ice Fishing Brown Trout & Tiger Trout was on the list & it didn’t disappoint. I did my research & homework which lead me to a small stocked trout lake in search of a moment to create a memory.
This is what I consider a Huge Tiger Trout & a Big Brown Trout especially for a stocked trout lake.
Here is that memory caught on film.

Yea it was a Tank! Just an awesome shape, Usually just catch smaller ones with the halos & not that sheen look.. Definitely going to remember those fish.

12-12-20 East Allen lake by Medicine Bow Wyoming is catching 5 to 7 Lb average cuts and bows through the ice. I saw 1 other person there that day. The lake has had little pressure lately and the fish size show it as well as the numbers. got 10 over 5 lb on Sat and 12 Sunday biggest 7.45 lb

Amazing first fish! I’m from Utah born and raised never ice fished going Sunday. Would you mint telling me the lake or reservoir you where at. I’m so excited!

That was a small stocked trout lake in Saskatchewan Canada 🇨🇦, There’s a decent trout stocking program here that puts fish in a lot of small body’s of water that aren’t connected to a main river system.
For stocked trout I like small jigs 5mm or small spoons with bait & light line 6-8lb flourocarbon leader. Have to check your local regulations but Maggots, Mealworms & shrimp work. Sometimes a set line on a Jaw Jacker works really well, other times small movement with a rod.

I wouldn’t, I was Informed last week there is indeed aeration & it has been running. If your watching backgrounds where I was you’d need a boat 🚣‍♀️ from what I was told.

Maybe if you know the lake you consistently fish.
No fish is worth dropping a vehicle through the ice. Have it happen once & pay that bill.. you won’t be as comfortable driving on.
Ice is never consistent throughout a body of water & that one is aerated.

That Lake I choose not to reveal location, there’s a helpful link in the description info of the video that shows every lake in Saskatchewan, Stocked Trout Lakes are highlighted within that with species & stocking info.
I thought that would be a better tool for others to use to plan their angling adventures.
