Oh my goodness everywhere I go. I watch for rocks Taco Bell the other day I walked out of their parking lot was six yeah great place to find rocks unexpected.

Me and my daughter look at all rocks. I admit it's an obsession.❤

My daughter picks up rocks every where we go. I always have rocks in my car, but now I have a bag of rocks that we use to replace what she takes. Lol

I have just washed them off like you normally would between grits if you are concerned with any grit drying in any cracks. I left the rocks in the strainer and the barrels open (i.e, didn't put the lids on and seal them. But, your method should keep them from getting dusty while gone.

Well, I see cherts and quartzites so I guess some would.

Hi Mike, You are 100% correct to clean out the barrels before your trip! Slurry cement at the bottom of an idle barrel is terrible to clean up! All the rocks are looking really nice! Looking forward to seeing the jasper & Turritella all polished! Thumbs up! Jim

Hi Mike, You're right! I do watch ALL of your videos...and enjoy all of them, too! The Tepee Canyon agate from South Dakota looked great! The Chert & pet wood looked awesome, too! Those 3 green rocks are Bloodstone/Fancy Jasper from India. Bloodstone is all green with the little red dots (the 'blood') & the multi-colored pieces are the fancy jasper. The material comes out of the same vein - just 2 different names depending on color. Looking forward to seeing what you find at the rock shops in South Dakota. Hopefully more Tepee Canyon. Just got a nice collection of agates with some Lake Superior agates for you to tumble. Safe travels! Good Luck fossil collection! Thumbs up - as always! Jim

My boyfriend gives me hell for doing this.

We were poor growing up. Our minister had many hobbies one of which was rock polishing. Other was fixing and selling mowers. He gave me a bike with a canister that rode over the back tire. I had to let him check it every week or two. He also sold me my first mower that I would tie behind the bike and go out looking for yards to mow to pay for it. I had the strongest legs of my life back then pulling a mower and a wagon with the string trimmer and gas while polishing his rocks.

No Rock is safe around me I will snatch it up the wife said Iam not aloud to bring any more home yeah fuck that my pockets always full

Looking forward to seeing how those look after the 220 grit. Best of luck on the fossil hunt and rock hounding. Hope you find many fossils, but make sure to leave room in the truck for all the rocks for tumbling!

Mike this may be a crazy question but I am not learned on the rock hounding subject. But I grew up in the land of gravel pits. The land I grew up on is now a huge pit. The neighbors had a small pit that hasn't been worked in 50 years. My question is is how deep the nice stones go. I know there are piles of rocks but they look the same to me.

About that dop station. I've been looking into making cabochons lately, and I came across the video in the link. About dopping with hot glue. I haven't tried it because I don't have all the equipment yet, but you might give it a go. NEVER put ya hands in the liquid whilst it's on. My late father found that out when he lost a couple of fingernails from doing it too often. Just use food tongs or something.

Mike there is a new kids toy called diamond mining. Is like a block of clay with a polished stone or possibly a diamond inside. Thanks to your channel I've been able to tell him several of the stones he has "mined" just saying at $5 a piece I should be shining up some stones too. He did get a pretty tigers eye that I like. They have rose quartz and a few other stones to find.

Hi Mike, The Tepee Canyon agate was a nice surprise! That material actually comes from Hells Canyon about a mile from Tepee Canyon. I mined & collected there in the early 1980's. Some 'newer' material became available when the state highway department did some road repair work near the canyon. The outer tan material is a softer rhyolite. Great update! I need to tumble some rocks and i made the mistake of giving away a tumbler in a storage give away. To get rid of everything.. 😢. Now i dont have a complete tumbler. I have the base but no drum.
