- in this video I open up one of my rock tumblers in the rough stage and have a look at the rocks inside to see if any are ready to move on to medium grit. Plus we'll look at rocks to add to the tumbler to top it off before restarting it. How did the petrified wood, banded iron, agate and jasper look? Mike how do you tell how big a Rock Tumbler is? Wish I could get a 12lb Rock Tumbler
I'm going by the sizes Lortone rates their barrels by. They sell 3, 4.5, 6 and 12 lb models. I've got all four sizes. I suppose that means they can hold that weight of rock. I think they'd all be pretty darn full if filled to their max weight. They also sell tumbler motor units for all their barrel sizes, but I built my own that can handle the 4.5-12 lb barrels.
