in this video I open up one of my rock tumblers to see what is done with the medium grit stage and what needs to run longer. some of these rocks got returned to medium grit after being damaged during polishing. I give the ones ready to move ahead a cleanup in the ultrasonic tank. I also add some more rocks into put in the barrel and start them on pre-polish grit tumbling. Good to see the damaged rocks getting smooth again. Suprised to hear Lortone is closing their doors. I might have to splurge and get one while they are still available. Looking forward to the next episode.

Hi Mike, Don't feel bad about removing a bad rock! Not everything tumbles perfectly! One suggestion - if you're going to use the same media from one grit to the next - put it thru the ultrasonic, too! Great update! Thumbs up! Jim

I thought about that. The mesh in the basket is too big for the media. I guess I can try just dumping it in without the basket. Watched a Theo Kelson video last night where he tumbled obsidian. He had a terrible time with it. Then the owner of the Rock Shed gave him some advice and it made a world of difference. I think the same techniques could help me with the softer stuff I've been having problems with, and maybe even eventually labradorite.

Mike how many Tumblers do you have Bro? I only have 2 but only one works; I need to get a seal for my little yellow one for the lid.then I'll have 2; ROCK TUMBLERS 👍🤣👍

Does your ultrasonic cleaner have a heater? If so what temperature do you set it to?

It doesn't specifically have a heater, but the water does get warm over time. I think it's just heat from the transducers.
